The cormorant can represent almost anything from insect, to fry, to small bait fish. Almost unlimited in variations of colour, drab, gaudy, bling, flash, boobie eyes, even added legs. With exceptions due to rules of fishery, or competition. As in size, added weight, a trailing stinger, spoon or other blade accessory. So as long as it is a legal, ethical, and permitted method. That method works. Without causing distress, harm, damage to a fish then use it.
Lindsay Simpson Never caught anything with this fly but caught two big rainbows with the claret dabbler you showed us a few weeks ago. Now looking to tie daddies for Menteith in a fortnight.
Great pattern Lyndsay. I’ll try my hand at this one. Just a thought..... I don’t get to fishing much at all but enjoy tying and don’t do ANY competitions. I don’t get how you are restricted on tail length but you can have 4 flies in a line like mackerel fishing. Me, I’m old school. One man, one rod, one fly. Job done.....
It's always a pleasure watching your videos because are very interesting and instructive for improving my tying capacity. I'd like to tie some different flies for fishing trouts in my local lake. Can you tell me some videos of your fly tying to start my fly box for fishing trout in the lake? Thank you and sorry for the long question

Nice cormorant Lindsay. Lovin' the tapered body effect. I have all those materials so I think I'll tie up a dozen or so for my box and some spares for my friends. Ive seen a few videos online now where people use either varnish or UV resins to finish off their bodies. Can you explain what difference is between the two please? Thanks for the tips 🎣👏👍
Hi Clark, the main difference to me is drying time. The resin dries in seconds with varnish it takes much longer. Folk that use varnish say it gives you a better finish. I'm not convinced myself, though I do still use hard as nails varnish on some flies.
A nice clean looking fly , thanx again, do you think it would work for sea trout, I'm headed for Alabama , n some of the best sea trout fishin , maybe in a lil brighter colors , what ya think ?
Hi - really enjoying your fly tying videos, the detail and explanations are appreciated. Curious as to which UV resin applicator you are using? Thanks, Duncan
Another nice one Lindsay!, I don't use the jungle cock either because it's too expensive and I'm just stingy. Finally getting over for a few weeks fishing, starting in Hampshire next weekend and ending in Gairloch 5 weeks later. That'll kill them on Menteith!!. Keep em coming!! ATB Chris.

Comp fishing is not for everyone pal as long as you are enjoying being out there, that's what's important.

Lindsay? Can you use black flexi one this flie.
I use black, red and white. 👍
@lindsayiflyfish Thanks Lindsay, love your vids. Just made four with black. Two hothead orange and two hothead red.
Hi. I note you use a narrow brush to apply UV solution. Far better than nozzle. What make is it?
Yes, it is much easier, I use Slolarez Bone Dry.
A nice clean looking fly , thanx again, do you think it would work for sea trout, I'm headed for Alabama , n some of the best sea trout fishin , maybe in a lil brighter colors , what ya think ?
Not sure, not a traditional sea trout fly. Maybe with a pink wing. Would love to know how it goes though.
nice
Thanks
@@lindsayiflyfish your welcome
Cracking fly, do you think the glo brite works better than jungle cock also do you use them in a size 12?
I do tie these with JC but don't add the hot head. I think the fish much better in #12. I just used the #8 for the video really.
Hi Lindsay I like that fly I got no brown flexi floss but plenty of black that would not make too much of a difference do you think. Cheers Nigel
Black will work just fine pal.
Hi - really enjoying your fly tying videos, the detail and explanations are appreciated.

Hi Duncan, the resin is Solarez Bone Dry. I love the wee brush that it comes with.
Thanks Lindsay - yes the wee brush tip is great also seems to dry very fast.

Hi Lindsay, what uv resin do you use? I find with mine that flies go sticky in the sun
I use Solarez Bone Dry, its great stuff.
@@lindsayiflyfish thank you
@@lindsayiflyfish Hi Lindsay, nice fly. What UV torch do you use?
What vice have you got please
It's a Jan Tvrdek Rotary vice they are no longer available sadly.
@@lindsayiflyfish ok thanks for that appreciated 👍
