I met Chris back in 1990 at Universal studios.I don't have a single bad thing to say about him.Genuine, unpretentious, engaging,honest, affable.As an up and coming kid in a metal band...he had no reason to care about me,and still talked with me for hours about music.

Chris Isaak is the best live performer I've ever seen. During the songs he brings Elvis energy, between songs he is a hilarious standup comic.
I saw him in like '87 at a punk club in Atlanta called The Metroplex for $7. He was fierce. Even when a couple of beer bottles got hurled.
When I met him at Universal studios,he was talking to a bunch of rich,old mummies.I was there to break into the LA metal scene and was dressed the part.The rich people looked at me like garbage.Once he found out I was a guitar player, and I learned from Bob Welch...he went on to ignore the people who really weren't music fans and talked with me for a few hours.Had he taken himself too serious,he probably would have stayed rubbing elbows with the money.Before anything else,he's a music fan first.But he is hilarious, you're right

Saw Chris in concert back in the 90's and he was wearing a mirror suit! Lights flashing off it like a disco ball. The mirrors were small waffle pattern so he could move freely.

Women definitely went crazy for him back then! Probably still do. As a fellow guitarist, I always give him props - he's super tasteful as a player and always has great guitar tones.
A Gretsch and some reverb are all you need for the sweetest tones... tasteful is a great word for his style.
He always had an exceptional band.
His tv show on Showtime was very funny. Like a sitcom, but he played himself. I think he performed on most episodes. I know some are available on RUclips.

I remember going to see him with some friends when he came to the UK in London... It was like... WOWWWW... We were sitting, in the upper section of the venue feeling really envious of the people who managed to get tickets downstairs & closer to the stage because everyone in the upstairs area was just sitting there calmly as if they were watching a play in a theatre... How boring... Then, at one point, he left the stage during the performance of a song, (I can't remember). We wondered what had happened... It was then he reappeared upstairs in our section...😍That night, three adult women became screaming, lovesick teenagers again as if Elvis himself had been reborn... It took us a while to calm down..🤣 Wonderful memory of an amazing man & artist...😁

I've always waited and hoped for reruns but it never happens, so I assume there must be some contractual or legal issue with it? That is my favourite song of all time! I saw them perform it live in Liverpool, England (the full Trinity Sessions album) and it was spine tingling. 200 More Miles is a great track off that album too.

Yes... to feel blue is to feel lonely. He is saying that life has not worked for him in the past, so he is resigned to accepting a lonely fate. The metaphor of the Blue Hotel is that he is settling in to a place of emptiness rather than growing and learning from his mistakes... he could look for love and joy in new places, but the place in his mind that is like an empty hotel on a deserted highway has become a comfortable place to dwell. The irony is that there is room to spare for others that feel like him, but they would not be alone anymore.

Chris Isaak is great talent - always a bit out of time. This was from 1986, but was rooted in the early 60's, with his Roy Orbison/Elvis style. But he was/is a great singer, songwriter and entertainer. This was a minor hit from his second album. His next album had his biggest hit - "Wicked Game"
