goku doesn't really seem to care what clothes he wears as long as they have good freedom of movement. there is a long established precedent throughout dragon ball of goku wearing out his clothes and his friends treating him to new ones. he'd probably wear anything he could fight in no matter what it said on it.
I think it makes more sense for the comfort/ease kanji, on Yamcha, to symbolize his goal of wanting to be comfortable around girls. It would also be a reference, and play on words, to his “cool-guy” attitude.

Mercenary Tao's symbol indeed means "satsu", but "assassination" means "ansatsu" in Japanese. Hence, Tao is essentially wearing his life description on his back, or at least the latter part of the word. Thought I should point that out.
You can find other Kanji Characters in the dragonball games. such as 怒, 必, 惑, 造. 怒 usually associated with Chichi because it means rage. 必 - usually associated with characters using special abilities like Kamehameha, can mean "hisatsu waza" or "Deadly technique". 惑 - usually associated with freeza and his men because they are space pirates, so likely the character has a meaning of "space". 造 - means build so it is associated with the Androids.
Let’s not forget that master Roshi gets his wisdom from a 1000 year old turtle.

I always wondered why Goku never had a symbol on his Gi in the Cell and buu saga. The symbols he wore were always like a representation of his character and it bothered me to see it gone. Glad they brought it back in Super.

You can find other Kanji Characters in the dragonball games. such as 怒, 必, 惑, 造. 怒 usually associated with Chichi because it means rage. 必 - usually associated with characters using special abilities like Kamehameha, can mean "hisatsu waza" or "Deadly technique". 惑 - usually associated with freeza and his men because they are space pirates, so likely the character has a meaning of "space". 造 - means build so it is associated with the Androids.
