    • @Rikuzki
      @Rikuzki 3 года назад +60

      @@justjulian872 But that's not how it works. Kimi lost three 100% victories because of unreliable car + 1 win because he got a puncture right after leaving the pitstop. So he lost total of 4 wins not because of his driving mistakes. Alonso's only retirement came from driving mistake and every single one of Raikkonen's lost wins led to Alonso's wins.
      So if Kimi didn't have the reliability issues, he would have had 11 wins compared to Alonso's 3. Ofc I am a bit biased because I'm a fan of Kimi but he would and should have won 2005 like he should have won 2003. Unfortunately for Kimi, his car couldn't handle the Iceman.

    • @justjulian872
      @justjulian872 3 года назад +10

      @@Rikuzki he didn't lose three 100% victories. In Imola he retired in lap 9 and at the German GP in the middle of the race. The puncture at the European GP was probably caused by a driver error in lap 30. McLarens reliability issues were probably part of their tactics. They gave Kimi more power resulting in Wins and Podiums, knowing that it may cause technical failures. I think Alonso deserves his title but so would Kimi.
      I don't know about 2003 on the one hand he would deserve it cuz he finished only 2 points behind Micheal having 2 DNFs more but on the other hand it would be strange to see someone winning the championship with just one race win whereas his main rival has 6.
      I'm glad that both of them are champions of the world. His title in 2007 was epic.

      +McLarenFan They could, but only on extreme cases (see Kimi Räikkönen, Europe 2005). For all intents and purposes, tyre changes were banned.
      Most idiotic rule ever, it was probably there just to stop Michael Schumacher from winning.

    • @Aunini
      @Aunini 8 лет назад +12

      Now refuel is banned, but tyre change is ok.

    • @TheRomanRuler
      @TheRomanRuler 7 лет назад +27

      Actually it was not most idiotic rule. It created racing where you were punished for your mistakes. If you lock up, that is going to hurt you. And it was not just enough to make tires last 20 laps, you had to be fast for same set of tires for 60 laps. We had some really good races back in 2005.
      Granted i like to see as much action in pit stops as possible with as little arbitary "you must do pit stop" as possible. If somebody managed to design a car that does not have to do a single pit stop, they should be allowed to. It should be made so difficult to design that kind of car that fuel would be extremely limited, but it should be allowed.
      As much variety between teams as possible without putting smaller teams at disadvantage is great in my opinion.

    • @DeinAliasIstSchonVergeben
      @DeinAliasIstSchonVergeben 6 лет назад +5

      they had times were they didn't refuel and they had times were they didn't change tires.
      there is no "IF anyone manage to designe a car ... " if fia would allowe it they could build cars that will run 100 laps on spa without pitstops needed. they can build cars that sound good look good and could run way more the 400 kmH. the fia just doesn't allowes it.

    Kimi was and always will be a cracking race driver, he will always fight for position...Even if all hope of a win is very unlikely....He will fight till the very end, and it has won him many races, like this great race!!!

      In 2008 Kimi was the best at the beginning of the season, but Ferrari had to kick him out... gave him an old suspension and so on. They screwed their last champion.

    God damn this is the real formula 1. Im not talking about the sound or the looks but about racing, pure racing, refuling, sprint stints with amazing camber for grip not tire saving small cars with a lot of downforce large rear wing and smaller front for better overtaking possibilities, amazing top speeds. I don't know where f1 is going but it almost feels like it needs a revolution. Im no expert but the only thing f1 needs to again be like this is:
    1. cheap, easy to make engines so there is no big power difference between different engines and small teams can actualy make their own instead of relying on some -50hp mercedes engine because lets be real mercedes doesn't give the same engine they use to williams.
    2. refuling. Just do it... Don't make drivers save fuel because that makes racing dull. Have enough fuel so they can run full race 100% or have refuling. Your choice.
    3. more aggressive aerodynamics like the ones from 2005 and more freedom in designing.
    4. get rid of the drs, make rear wings big again and smaller front ones so drivers can drive closer plus there will be less rear wheel punctures.
    5. Please for gods sake get rid of so much team controled cars and electronics, telemetry and that bullshit make drivers work/drive their cars.
    And finally make f1 more fan friendly. What I mean by that is make it accessible to everyone via social networks especially youtube. Not everybody can see race on television so why not post the race or just the highlights on youtube or let somebody else do it. Now you take down everything that fans upload. For fucks sake this is free publicity and you take it down because of copyright.

      Agree on all points. About #4, have you seen that double stack in the late 70's Gilles Villeneuve Ferrari had? That was the most ridiculous amount of wing since the Spruce Goose, or maybe a Pterodactyl family outing, but I loved it. :D

      +GhostsKuriboh FIA ruled out refueling at the world council meeting. Which in a way is good. 1. safety. 2. without it more overtakes. (provided shitteli) don't get the tyre contract

    • @HighFlyingOwlOfMinerva
      @HighFlyingOwlOfMinerva 8 лет назад +5

      +Dylan Cotton That's a load of shit. Refueling should've returned.
      Also the whole "safety" argument is an even bigger crock of shit. IndyCar uses refueling for years and they never had any accident in the recent years.
      Mayble F1 drivers need to learn not to speed away so incredibly fast and then we won't have any fuel hose related incidents like in Singapore 08 with Massa.

    • @dylancotton2061
      @dylancotton2061 8 лет назад +4

      +Matthew Panini Well if you look at the stars from the refueling era you will see overtaking was much much lower than in other years

      Or sunday just couple of days ago at Hungary when he was faster than Sebastian for most of the race.
      Granted Sebastian had technical issues so we don´t know his true perfomance. Kimi has always been better at race than in qualifying, so Vettel`s faster pace on quali might not mean he was faster. But Kimi certainly was in harder position, being behind his team mate who had to slow him down and being in front of charging Mercedes cars.

      +Ciaron Smith - in 2005 the tyres were way harder because michelin and bridgestone had to develop the tyres in that they could last a whole grand prix distance.

    • @ciaronsmith4995
      @ciaronsmith4995 8 лет назад

      Mark FormulaRacer In 2005 the sidewalls were WAY thinner than in previous years. That is the key. They were easy to warm up. And the downforce the cars generated was far more than anything today. Hard should not mean, hard to warm up and slide for 3 laps. Any high performance tyre should be easy to warmup, provide a ton of grip over the lap. Pirelli finds these two mutually exclusive and incompatible. Michelin did not. If Pirelli brings a hard tyre it is durable but has 0 grip.

    • @Mformularacer
      @Mformularacer 8 лет назад

      Ciaron Smith so kimi is only good with pirelli supersofts ?
