Actually, that 'fishing lure' is actually polymerized fuel. It's diesel that's come in contact with RTV silicone sealant. The RTV sealant causes the diesel fuel to polymerize into a rubbery thick jell at the point of contact. I recommend checking if your fuel system has had any gaskets installed with silicone sealant on either side of the gasket. If that's the case, then this episode will be a recurring problem.

The good part of this trip is it helps identify all the things that are important to change for future intended use. A short trip in better conditions would have left you hanging for future preps.
Someone can soften up that suspension for you if you're not going to need the full capability for cargo or towing.
The heater cable looked kinked up but can be repaired or replaced. Plus the defroster open/off damper could be fitted with a hard plastic seal to shut off the heat.
A good cleaning of the entire fuel system wouldn't hurt just to prevent more junk from clogging injectors, etc.
Looks like you need either a larger or an auxiliary air-conditioner because the cab is huge. And you can replace the air wipers with electric ones.
    Have fun.

In the old days we would close them in the summertime just in case the heater control valve leaked a little and kept the heater core warm and the A/C would have to work harder fighting the warm heater core. Also please don't pull off on the side of the Interstate if you are not broke down and can't move, find a ramp. That's a good way to get killed.

Even with Abel's help, it's a dang good thing you know mechanics as much as you do, Matt. I foresee one of those storage boxes under the doors being turned into a tool box!.
Speaking as a woman, I can tell you that as ticked as your wives may seem, they are more concerned that you get home safely than "on time". Look at it this way, the kids won't know when you are going to get home, so you can pick them up in the truck! I cannot WAIT to see Lincoln's face when he sees, let alone gets into the new truck (if you can call it that? Is tank more appropriate, lol? (btw, I know it's not a tank, so no need to correct me!)).

Nick Mango no. I’m pretty positive this is not why he has red diesel.
If you notice he was in a united rentals work truck. If you don’t know what that is; it’s a company that rents out equipment. Forklifts and cranes and such. Which have Diesel engines which need repaired by this man. And they use red diesel. That’s why he has it on his truck.

Well, in the guys eyes the truck was mechanically fine, the fuel however could have a microbial contamination which kinda looks like the shit he pulled out of that orifice. Which can happen if a truck sits for a long time sometimes.

The bridge that they are on at 7:53 is known locally as the “Dolly Parton Bridge”. Because the two big humps at the top of the tallest part resemble a pair of boobies lol. The actual name of the bridge is “General W.K. Wilson Jr. Bridge”, This is the bridge that crosses the beautiful Mobile-Tensaw River Delta. It’s probably the prettiest swamp in the State of Alabama with plenty of rivers, creeks, and lakes to explore. Also home to many different species of animals being one of, if not the most, diverse eco-system in the world. This bridge is part of the I-65 interstate, so most people are just passing thru, they just see a bridge with mud and water underneath but it is truly amazing.

I grew up crossing that bridge. Dad used to work a papper mill not far from it, you can see from there. Just crossed it not two weeks ago going to a job site. It was hilarious trying to explain the name of that bridge to a 5yr me lol.
P.s. Glad he corrected himself on the pronunciation of Mobile, good job.

Even the news stations call it the "Dolly Parton Bridge" when reporting on it.
