I find this show to be very good. It’s stupid that people are now hating on everything Suicide Squad related just because the trash game Kill the Justice League left a sour taste in their mouths. Like they got war flashbacks now

Don’t know why people are not liking Suicide Squad Isekai. The cast of villains are great. The only thing that comes to mind is people are against anything Suicide Squad because of the awful video game; and honestly that’s a ridiculous reason if it is.
I think the people who actually aren't vibing with it and not simply following other people's opinions, is many aren't used to simplistic super hero stories.
Or people just don't like it? Its not that deep
those same people have praised other isekai with far less going on, it's more to do with the superhero tie in
I think they have too high expectations for the plot because of Tappei. They may think this show may have more dramatic scenes as ReZero did in the first few episodes. But for me, the plot may be a bit generic. But at least we can guarantee to have good art and animation made by Wit Studio. I will be more afraid they try to make crazy plot twists but eventually mess it up. It may be better to have a normal story with good art and animation just like Vivy did.
That’s true. The WB game is definitely one of the worst games of all time and it left a very sour taste in everyone’s mouth. But yeah it’s stupid that too many people are now hating on anything Suicide Squad related because of that one game, as if they got war flashbacks now
Tappei's writing was really starting to show itself in this episode, that flashback with Harley was genuinely unsettling the way she stared at the Joker.
That was the thought I had watching this episode. The queen in this world doesn't want this war to end for one reason or another. I'm sure we'll get into the reason going forward. The princess needs to find her voice though. Now I'm invested in this.
i imagine the war keeps her in power as well as an excuse to hord all the resources from the civilians

SSI episode 4 was so good actually! I think people easily get influenced by what "big" youtubers or trusted reactors say. I have come to the realization that reactors are just like us. People with their own biases and I shouldn't just take their word for it.
I love it so far :D episodes 1 through 3 were good. solid 7/10 which isnt too bad. But episode 4 was definitely a jump to an 8.5 easily. I would say the quality went up for sure. I hope people start to realize the series is actually pretty good

I like how Deadshot didn't manage to figure out why Ratcatcher was mad at him, even at the very end.
I am not a suicide squid fan, never liked it, always thought it was a dumb idea
But in this anime it just works, also they really captured how an anime joker would act like
I don't get why people hate it sure the plot is typical isekai fair but the characterization animation ost are all really good its definitely better then the vast majority of generic isekai that air every season

I don't get why people don't like it, cause I love it. The Queen's face when it was over already shows more than wanting to end a war. I think she killed that boy who the princess's friend.

Ppl didnt love the movies as much, and a lot of anime watchers are often gamers as well. So it's likely a lot of them just assume this is a cashgrab, and with not so great game recently, anime fans look at it with an already clouded biased opinion

yup each year i have a few anime that I think 100 people enjoy but they are usually some of my favs of that year.
When I started watching ep.1 I was on the other side of the fence, because I did not enjoy Suicide Squad before. But this anime changed that. Now, this is one of the series that I look forward to.
I can see why they dropped 3 episodes to begin with. If this were going week by week until now, I reckon so many more people would be hating on it. I don't care one way or the other. I'm just gonna keep on vibing. 10 episodes just isn't gonna be enough. Love all these characters. Especially the shine through of Harleys psychologist background, comparing her past self to the princess and stuff. I actually love this so far

It’s never a good sign when a character is shown in front face view at an upward angle with a thousand yard stare.
I genuinely don't understand people saying it is boring. I can get having issues with the writing (it's been pretty basic so far). Aside from some of the Harley vs Katana fight, the rest of the action has been good. Maybe it's because I have seen the actually trash Isekai stuff? There is way worse stuff that people praise for some reason.
one more thing first ep were setup,and i don't know what kind of ridiculous expectation had going in, and most importantly this anime is bridge between dc fans who haven't seen anime let alone isekai so they needed that setup to explain it and set up without making it too dragged out and exposition heavy.

I have been going through this situation for more then a decade with Gintama. Nobody, in my anime watching circle of friends like it try not to push my opinions down their throat.
It's a simple show where you don't need to really think, do why's Harley look like a teen in this?
I think the queen is actually Enchantress in disguise. The real queen is either dead or captured before the big fight.

It was amusing to see Rick so frustrated when Cecil questioned him about working for the squad, Cecil and Rick are probably more alike then they realise. It was also nice to see the squad interact with the orges again and they can understand each other this time
I'm not a fan of suicide squad or isekai really, but I'm enjoying seeing DC characters - esp Harley and Joker - reimagined based on anime style.
One thing I do find interesting is that Harley has twice referred to her past self as being pathetic but then having been liberated. It's common to see Harley talk like that in stories where she's over the Joker - but here she's still obsessed with him as ever.
So basically, they seem to have inverted her traditional arc to be about the Joker helping her discover herself - rather than abusing her until she escapes from him.
Leave it to Japan to take one of the most abusive couples in fiction and reimagine them as a manic pixie dream couple eh?
The alternative possibility is that Harley is being an unreliable narrator, but that would be quite disappointing if so.
And here i was thinking randos who aint even seen shows but hating on them anyway would be limited to Invincible lmao, at least in the superhero sphere.
It aint no Ojisan (peak isekai) but I got no problem with this one, it's aight
I have been loving this show. The cast is great! This world feels like it was made for the suicide squad! Maybe it’s because audiences aren’t used to seeing their comic book characters in an anime?
True words, Brandon. And My Home Hero is a masterpiece.
Super hero comics were 99% of the time pure pulp. Their stories never really went beyond the "villain of the day" gig, and the few times they did was only for a volume or two at most.
The only real examples of super hero stories (that I read or remember) going beyond their usual fodder are:
From DC
The Death of Superman Saga, complete with its final "Doomsday" comic (my favorite of the series, where we learn about the past of Doomsday). And Superman got revived in the end, as it always happens in comics.
Batman - The Animated Series, and its sequel Batman of the Future (I miss Terry and Bruce's interactions).
From Marvel
Days of the Future Past
The Infinity War
Period.
There are likely more, but those are the ones that stuck in my brain. Because they didn't have more... depth.
Which is why, this series, this Suicide Squad iteration is so fun to watch. There's a tale, the cast is colorful, both the known villains and those yet to reveal their true colors, the plot is interesting, and the world is attractive.
Plus, Harley, Clayface, Deathshot, King Shark and Peacemaker make me laugh. I just wish the Joker were voiced by the one and only true voice of the Joker: Mark Hamil, and Arleen Sorkin as Harley. Interestingly enough Anna Nagase (Harley's Japanese VA) has a voice that sounds similar to Sorkin: Playful, bubbly, deranged when needed.
Nice nostalgia.
Long as super heroes are fun I'm happy and the odd time they pull a masterpiece I'm pleasantly surprised. Super hero comics typically stay in the realm of fun first and foremost which many media fail to forget what media is supposed to be at the end of the day. Tbh super hero comics are similar to Nintendo philosophy of games should be fun and that's how I view most comics outside a few dozen stories that went above and beyond

Now that I analyze it with that idea in mind, that's the feeling this series gives me. It's the same as those 90s series. It's fun, and it has depth. All we can ask for.
It's a fun show. Why can't people just agree that not every story has to be this masterpiece 10/10 would recommend to everyone under the sun. Most of the hate and discourse that's aimed towards this show is probably because of the shitty video game that bombed hard. That... And also what they've been doing with the superhero genre in the west and that the suicide squad is generally hated now because of all the politics they have been putting into those characters. Not the anime's fault but that's just how people do be these days. When one thing was bad immediately everything after is bad too.
But I digress, I know I said on the last video that I saw Chibi and a few others giving mixed messages and saying they'd drop it if it wasn't for Tapei writing the script. I didn't share their feelings because I hadn't seen the episodes but even other people on RUclips and twitter are calling this 'okay' and 'boring'. Okay and? If they don't like it so what. I will not let it affect my viewing experience.
Is this the best show of the season? No. Is it fun though? Absolutely. It's the same feeling as with yesterday's show of the demon lord's army strongest Magician is a human. Although this has more animation quality than that show.
So far, I like it. I don't love it yet as I need something more but so far it's fun. I love Clayface and Harley. I think they make the show for me for now because of their personality and quirks. Like we even see flashbacks of her and the joker constantly and they're building that relationship in this. Totally wouldn't be shocked if he somehow slipped into the portal and is sitting on the throne somewhere.
But Rat guy got what he deserved. Kinda feel bad for him considering deadshot has been a really shitty friend to him and doing things that he thought was nice but it was not.
It's funny how they censor the curse words and it comes out funny asf.
Also really had a large smile when their commander was talking to the commander of the isekai world and they were sharing the same thoughts about how it's difficult being a soldier 🤣
This show is pure fun and enjoyment and I don't mind watching this weekly at all. Honestly, the haters can hate but this series and the creators don't deserve the hate.
Great work Brandon and keep doing what you're doing. I wouldn't be a subscriber if I knew that you weren't honest with us and that's the truth. There are many accounts and channels out there who will just tow the party line and fake their reactions just for the clicks, views and likes but you don't care about that as long as you get to enjoy what you want to enjoy.

This show is pretty solid. It’s a fun series. It reminds me of Those Who Hunt Elves.
IMO this is a good watch, admittedly not personally my favorite but still a good watch honestly. Like I was slightly raised on DC because of Cartoon Network so it’s not like I dislike it and I quite love the suicide squad. But for me it doesn’t have that hook feel I get when I find a show I really love. But regardless of that yeah imo this is a good watch, nobody should say that “you shouldn’t watch it”, because I know for even for me I’m still gonna watch it because it’s a good watch. Now my opinion of this episode I liked seeing the world building of what this whole war has, especially at the end when you see the queen’s face, she clearly didn’t like the fact they won. My personal favorite was just Harley honestly, I love her personality and I actually like that it seems she’s tough on the princess because she reminds of her of how she used to be. I can’t wait to just see her probably take the princess under her wing in some way and change her, that’s gonna be fun.
People connect with stories for a wide range of reasons. No one should feel they have to prove why they should be allowed to like something. But this is the internet and sometimes the idea of the 'wisdom of the crowd' can be relied on to a stupid degree. For what it's worth, I'm enjoying Suicide Squad Isekai, too.
I saw another youtuber call it boring and while i haven't started it yet it's obvious that they're over thinking things since it's obviously just trying to be fun and it's not that deep.
I see the potential for a few twists and turns but like with most super hero stories they are fun and most arcs dont stretch your brain
Personally I want to see more DC villains appear in the show, including more obscure Batman villains. Overall the anime is really good and I’m excited to see more seasons

Huh. I thought the friend died from either starvation due to mentioning he can't find work and the cost or bread was rising or died from whatever diseases his little brother had. Though from the ending, it would seem the possibility the Queen had him killed is likely... Or the Royal Knight Captain did out of jealousy. Episode was definitely better than eps 1 - 3, especially the Joker scenes

For the people saying they dont understand the hate for suicide squad, Its obvious because of the really bad track record suicide squad has in media and the recent horrible game, but the anime is actually interesting, i wouldnt say I like it but it is something i can sit down and watch when i have nothing to do. But if the plot goes where i think it is going then i am sure i will enjoy it more in the future episodes.
I don't get any criticism about this show just because it's a comic and anime mix. I think the series is amazing and the fact that the US and Jap production was finally brought together is a dream come true for me. Even though i never watch anything where there is no clear single MC yet here I am worshipping this. I suppose you could say the only expection to my rule is when the heroes (MCs) are brought together in one show. (Now it makes sense why I am okay with this.)

Possibly Harley only become the crazy girl she is now because of the Joker in at least most if not all the continuitys but before that she was a good girl that had a job helping the mentally ill so it she haven't been expose to this world Joker if it has one but besides that i wonder whan Harley going to swap places with the princess and/or act as her body double because two very similar looking people that they even made note of and have the tendency of sneaking out to see the world in a situation like this it seem like a natural thing to happen all they need is some make up and redoing of there hair

I can give an honest first episode review. The subtitle was a mess. Idk if it was just me but it was wrongly timed, either lagging or swapped position. Like for example a character said 2 sentences, the translation for second sentence get pulled first then the first sentence. It's not a problem because I can understand 70% of the japanese but still it's annoying.

Is it really so good ? I am not into superhero/supervilain kind of shit and suicide squad commics and movies are nothing for me, so I naturally opted out of the anime. But if you are hyping it so much maybe I give it a shot.
I think it's insanely fun
You should go into it with low expectations. It just fun and entertaining. Not the most serious story ever. It's not the next big anime of the year. But it's still a lot of fun. If you go into it thinking just assuming it will be a quirky silly good time, then you'll enjoy it. If you go into it hoping for A+ storytelling, it's gonna disappoint you.
Low expectations and leaving your biases out of it, you'll enjoy it 😌
For me, The Suicide Squad Isekai is the trashiest DC superhero isekai anime I've never watched it in 2024, but, I just can't wait to see Grendizer U, for tomorrow night, yeah!? And I'll say Have a Happy Independence Day from The Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses, AHBrandonReviews!
