- Documentary about seven remaining inhabitants of the remote village of Hattarvík on the island of Fugloy, Faroes, North Atlantic ocean.
Faroese language with English subtitles.
Produced by Teitur Árnason Dahl in 2001
A hauntingly beautiful film. Loved watching it and will watch it again.
There exists no other place as beautiful and bleak.
Very sad, and there are thousands of communities around the world that struggle - like Kirkja and Hattarvík - to keep their population. The remoteness of Fugloy creates additional challenges.
It would be very interesting to see a follow-up to this film.
I will visit next year
Sounds kinda like Northern Norwegian. If I heard Faroese on the street I’d think they were Norwegians
It sounds like the Myre dialect.

How many people live there now?
3-4 live permanently but many (possibly 20?) have their address registred there.
@Farerets Hola, Farerets! ¿Qué conección tienes con las Islas Faroe? ¿Es que eres Urugayo pero aprendiste feroés, o tienes alguien en la famila quien es feroés?
It kinda sounds like Dutch spoken with a Scottish accent.
It sounds more like a northern Norwegian accent.
