One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited.
What an outstanding place on earth, I’ve known about Faroe Islands recently, can’t wait to see with my own eyes. On the top of my bucket list now!
Incredible beautiful the young girl singing in the very beginning of this video...pure talent!!! Just a person that knows about Music can evaluate her perfomance,Congratulations to her and her Music teacher. I also appreciated what Mr. Hentze, the fisherman said very seiously "...but we must have always RESPECT FOR THE SEA ! A trully fisherman!!! (I wrote this lines exactly when my PORTUGAl with Cristiano Ronaldo & C0. are playing against Feroe Island in its National Stadium,in FI capital. All the best to the People of Feroe Island!!!
It is me and my daughter. She was 3 years old. :)
You're insane. That was unbearable. She can barely speak. And the pianist was terrible also. And neither of them are Faroese, either. Which makes me wonder wtf they're included.
@@Jensinaolsen I enjoyed your daughter's sweet singing very much.
@@bashkillszombies What a terrible excuse of human being you are..
The definition of authenticity
Really? You didn't notice the introduction featured a child who couldn't sing, singing, and a woman who couldn't play piano, playing piano? You didn't notice they weren't Faroese, or even European? They both share the same ancestry as the people who filmed this. Which begs the question; why were they included?
I wish I had had the opportunity to visit Faroe Islands and Shetland Islands when I was Young !! Love from the United States....
This is a place of inspirational tranquility.... inspirational beauty that is exemplified in every single corner in their life...Wish in one day the Faroe Island is nominated for Nobel Prize for creating genuine, simple, productive self-depedent, sustainable and inspirational life that preserves human dignity... far away from hypocrisy of politics...
Good people, stunningly beautiful place. One day i hope i can visit and maybe, who knows, even live there.I'm trying to learn as much as possible about the Nord culture.Greetings to all Nordic people, from Greece!
beautiful place and beautiful people
Most travel films seem to focus in on the landscape, landmarks, cities, towns etc. and leave out the people. I was so glad to come across this film clip which solely zeros in on the people. Okkara = we, us?
Okkara = ours
its the name of a beer... means "our"
What a beautiful place and what fascinating people. Thank you so much for sharing this video.
Such a touching movie. Thank you.
I wish they would speak Faroese with subtitles in English.
P
Ed Ram likewise. Language is important. 👍🏽
Yess
I wish they'd open with Faroese people instead of foreigners. Or at least a little girl who could sing and a pianist who could play. That was ear cancer.
I'll bet they'd wish you'd learn Faroese!
Great documentary, love from Orkney. x
loved the film. well put together thought I wished that they would include more perspective of the women on the islands.
great video! i love that faroe islands.
Great film! We can get an insight into the lives of the people of this far-away land. Interesting, engaging. Thank you.
Good grief. How does that artist NOT KNOW how good he is??? Wow.
you guys are awesome. amazing lifestyle , amazing people
I wish to visit the beautiful islands someday soon. It looks amazing.
Yeah it looks fantastic, definitely want to go there soon. Love from Scotland
Please beware your identity and culture, dont make the same mistakes as the rest of the western world did. You are good and pure, stay like that, and you will have a golden future !!
Agreed
They forget to mention how highly subsidized they are from their mainland mother country. Everyone there has a very high standard of living because of it. So they hardly need to kill entire families of whales every year to survive I think.
Ew, bigotry.

Beautiful and peaceful place. 😍

Bellísimos los paisajes hermosos!!!!!
We just came back from our first visit from Faeroe Island. Leaving, we had tears in our eyes. What a paradise! We wish honestly that this last paradise will not be spoiled from too much tourists! Please, please not!!!
We loved the nature, this wonderful air, this terrific water, we could drink everywhere. And last not least these lovely people!!! Thank you to all, we met!
Angelika & Jan Otten, Hamburg/ Germany
You would love Iceland as well!
I'm interested on this automatic fishing reel being use, 3:58 minutes of the video. Can someone please tell me what is the brand and where to buy it. Thank you.
Respect for the sea 🌊 !

A video on Shetlandic dialect brought me hear. Ashamed to say I always the Faroes were part of Scotland!!! Beautiful country and people. Apologies:)
I want to visit and perhaps even live in this beautiful and peaceful land.
Let's go, you & me. Leave it all behind,
faroe island is an pretty old island and england helped FO in WW2.
under WW2 the faroes lost alot of fishermen when sailing to England to sell fish. we where happy to have british soldiers here before nazis :D
ruclips.net/video/E0k1EVCHP2g/видео.html ruclips.net/video/SxWZz38p7ow/видео.html ww2
Winston cherished us during the WW2, because of the fish we brought that way.
50 % of the fish the britts was eating and wee lost around 200 fishermen outh of 29000 people
Hermod Olsen you will regret that sooner-or-later
i want to go there someday
Can someone explain what okkara means?
our.
Really enjoyed the video, beautiful lands and seas. Seems to be populated by a lot of men. Any women there apart from priests? If so, what cool stuff do they do?
Birgitta Bellman there's not that many women a lot of them aren't even originally faroe (places like Thailand) because a lot of the women move to Denmark
Here are a lot of women as well, but there are more men. About 1500 more men, and that is of the 50.000 people who live here
I am prying to GOD that someday I can live this place.
I met a guy called Kris Joensen. Was very Kind 😊
No one cares.
Aww thats so sweet @John Galt has no friends
I wish to live there, look very nice and relax.
There is one ‘t’ in Scotland not two.
Want to visit Faroe island

+asbjørn poulsen Takk fyrir!
The Faroe people remind me of the Amazon tribes in their wholesomeness and dedication. It's about the only place I'd risk traveling to besides Norway.
Takk fyri.
I really liked the song at the end of the video, it has a very nice melody! It would be nice if someone can translate the words into English.

Sunshine's quiet over us now
the air's soft embrace.
Lonely living me and you
the unsaid words tell me everything.
Earth our's heaven as well.
The dew vet grass laughs.
The river lures and wispier's of peace:
always be with me.
Drizzling mournful silky soft
cooling blushing skin.
Blessing us and of joy met.
Never was home as true as is now.
Earth our's heaven as well.
The dew vet grass laughs.
The river lures and wispier's of peace:
always be with me.
Day met sun seeks shot eye
clock softly ticks.
Dusk trolls set the peace conference
heard you the crag's humming answer?
Earth our's, heaven as well.
The dew vet grass laughs.
The river lures and wispier's of peace:
always be with me.
Moon bright light will be tonight.
Fog blanket's over you.
we climb through the dream's threshold
be spellbound home always as now.
Earth our's heaven as well.
The dew vet grass laughs.
The river lures and wispier's of peace:
always be with me.
Morning wait you can for a moment
rest up for the night.
Night nurse protects you he will
whispering in the silence: all wish you well.
all wish you well.

The river lures and wispier's of peace:

Fun fact the painter is the one singing

Title "Men in Faroe Islands"
What is the name of the song that the girl sung? So beautiful
Dukka Mín Er Blá (it means my doll is blue) ruclips.net/video/gRSJtR2ax4Y/видео.html
Nothing of any import. She can barely speak Faroese, as other people have pointed out - she isn't from there. Neither is the woman playing the piano. They're both from the same place the two men who made this documentary are from. Israel. Why were they included? Who knows. As others already pointed out she can't sing and the piano player can't play.
@@johngalt969 Guess it was cheaper to hire some locals in Israel doing the singing and playing, instead of traveling back to the Faroe Island and arrange things) Too most viewers, excluding locals and other knowing Faroese, this is tumbs up;) no big deal. It's a fine video, getting more people to learn and have interest about the islands, doing more good than harm I would think.
I do believe that the name Ragnar mean "Hairy", not "Harry".
... just returned from a visit there, including Mykines - loved everything about it (that I saw and heard). The video above is good, but why on earth does it not feature any women??!! I believe about half of the population is female.
Christopher Laughton it's less than half and more and more women (not saying a majority) are imported from places like thailand
@@johan3612n Still relatively very few women from Thailand. Finding Faroese women to interview is not difficult, although I have no opinion on whether this video should have included women or not.
Note: There IS a woman being interviewed around the 37 minute mark.
@@Hanshgm Yeah but she's not even Faroese! Just like the girl in the intro and the lady playing the piano in the intro. I guess the documentary wouldn't be a typical western RUclips documentary if it wasn't subversive by trying to pretend foreigners are Faroese now by wishful thinking.
She would only moan lol
What's up, Im a faroese woman. How may I help you? 😆
I thought the Priestess at the end was from Greenland... I was wrong.
most importantly do they have good wifi?
Yes we do
🤣 great wifi

Don't go there - they kill dolphins for fun and sport.
@@blueheart7987 I’m dissipoikyee in you
@@frenchsecurity3351 Interesting word whatever that means🤣
I do know that the men to women ratio is rather adverse in these islands. Still, I would have liked the documentary to have featured some women and not just one.
B Sridhar why
Dig Boss maybe because they make up half the population?
I'd have liked the show to feature more Faroese people. The woman interviewed isn't even Faroese.
Not sure why this is called “Okkara People” - it should be called “Okkara Men” - out of 44 minute there is only one woman interviewed for about 3 minutes, the rest of the film consists of men being interviewed. Are there no women living in the Faroe Islands?
I want to live there. I would not mind at all beginning from zero. Any tip for starting there someday?
Bettina del Castillo ...Wow! love to live this beautiful place Fareo island.
Faroe island's
You live there?
get a visa.
I wish i could meet a faroe man 😀
Me 2 looking good man im single .
Please, please don't. The Faroese are a rare time capsule, 50,000 people who have been isolated. They already have a few Jewish people there already subverting their genetics (they think the Germanic people are the Amalekites and seek to destroy them - even the holocaust memorial at the hague has the words "Remember what Amalek has done to you." (amalek is the tribe that must be destroyed for the Jewish messiah to come).
@@gaylieradtke1762 You mean you're looking for free citizenship.
Yes im looking faroe man old good man

I am so intrigued by the history and freshness of this island. One comment, please be more respectful to animals. If we humans raise them for consumption can we be grateful and treat them with respect instead of kicking them and pulling them almost breaking their necks!
hi I am looking for Sofrey Poulsen from Faroe Islands. can anybody help me there?
Do not let globalism destroy your beautiful culture.
Only one woman in the whole island to interview?
Only one t in Scotland!
Two O's though.

There is no forest in there not even 1 tree wowwww
too much humidity for trees in the faroes
There used to be. But the great beaver invasion of 1986 saw them all destroyed.
The priest Maria baptized my son 😊
Faroe People speak English with an accent like Dutch people speak English🤣
I beg to differ, they sound like a perfect mix of Icelandic speaking English and Norwegians who don’t speak English good «enough»
I was thinking the same thing! So different from the Icelandic accent.
I enjoyed this film except for one major detail - no women were interviewed. There was mention of how the women are 'clever' with wool but we never saw it nor heard a woman speak of it for herself. A bit unfortunate - especially in this day and age....
moss grey who the fuck cares
They interviewed the priest, which was a woman.
Yeah one old dude said “I have a woman at home” which just sounds horrible 😂
The word for woman and wife is the same in Faroese, which is probably why he made that mistake
Teal'c Saying you have a woman at home sounds like you own her.
Saying you have a wife at home just sounds like your wife is at home.
Teal'c Wicked? Tf
the Faroe Islands were and are Norwegian .... damnark has never had anything to do with the islands ... that the Faroe Islands have not applied to norway when we all know that they historically belong to norway is a riddle.
Why the misinformation:) Faroe Island is possible a bit more close to Norway (language, location naturally, culture) compared to Denmark, but some historical events made things the way they are. The Danes are fine people, so no big differences I guess. Looking back at it, I guess Norway is not to sad about they didn't had to follow up and support Greenland, Iceland and Faroe Islands all those years before independence. Faroe Islands has a exiting landscape, sure like to visit some day.
pure and good and they have brutal instincts killing sea's creatures???!!!
no woman there ? only men in this documentary
They needs women there... i wonder how big is population there
420 likes, don't give it anymore likes please.
I bet the crime is low in the
Faroes
XmOkEy
Do you live there?
here is almoste no crime.
there has been 1 murder since 1988 and the murder was committed by a croatian.
Hermod Olsen
what the hell was a murderous Croat doing in the Faroes? Don't you have immigration controls?
btw, your police and judiciary must be tiny
we mostly only allow people in if they are marrying someone in the faroes, and the croatian was marrying the ex-wife of the victime :P we have a population of 49,188 and we have about 50 police officers
Hermod Olsen
thank you for the information and insight.
what really intrigues me is how you live so far north. it must be freezing cold. fruit must be a delicacy.
fascinating
What a terrible introduction. The little girl cannot sing and the pianist cannot play. What was the point of that? That little girl is absolutely not Faroese, nor is the woman playing the piano.
How do you know?
Only men.
Is a Chinese woman a priest? That's very funny!😁
Did you watch the video? She was born in S-Korea, adopted and brought to Faroes.
How is that funny?
I would kill to live in the Faroes. The problem is, if you don't speak the language you're pretty much screwed unless you want to work a blue collar job, which I am overqualified for.
Actually, mostly everyone here speaks English, so that's not really a problem. Take the shipyard for example, most of the welders are Polish, and they get by fine with their half-assed broken English.
Yes I know, that's why I said Blue-collar job. I have a college degree, I don't want to weld or work in a fish factory lol.
protolexis Fair enough. What did you major in?
I am afraid you have to forget your degree and be prepared to start again from the bottom and once you have learned the language and assimilated, you will have a better chance to use your degree...voice of experience :-)
You're exactly right, I've spoken to countless ex-pats who live there and they all said that. However, I don't plan on moving for at least another 1-2 years (unless Trump wins; that would expedite my leaving) so if I can get a firm grasp of the language then I actually believe I can continue to work in my current profession. The real problem is, all the resource to learn Faroese are complete shit.
How are the LGBT rights for now?
Magni P. gay marriage is legal, and Tórshavn is very openminded, but as soon as you get closer to the smaller towns, people have a tendency to be homophobic/uneducated/ignorant, but they've got nowhere to look for education, so it's actually very sad!
good. but no marrying in churches
