Biden didn't have any accomplishments the entire 8 years he was VP. Didn't stop him from clinching the nomination. He on the other hand did have more than 100 days to make the case and 4 years of Trump so clearly doing jack and bombing the pandemic response that even the Trump campaign couldn't lie their way out of it.

Other countries have shorter election cycles as well. In just two years we will start up with the next presidential election for 2028. It is just craziness . And all the unsolicited political texts and emails are beyond annoying as is the constant asking for money. Democrats should have had a short primary (like Clooney suggested), but they didn't because this time they had a good excuse not to have any primary and to just anoint their favourite. Harris was party elite's bingo card candidate: half black, half Asian, and a woman with tough on crime work history. That didn't sell, because those are not important things for the people. DNC has had three times in row a party elite's favourite as the candidate and two of those have lost, and Biden made it only because of covid. Party elite does not really know what they are doing. This wasn't her point, but small dollar donors should keep their money and spend it on something else. These candidates already have more than enough money coming from big donors to fund anything they want to do when campaigning.
I suspect that the main goal of attracting small dollar donors is not their money but to get them to become mentally invested in in the campaign. No matter how little they donate, by giving money, they now believe that they have a stake in that campaign and will be more receptive to voting and talking to others.

I would like to add a memory of mine regarding Mr. Douglas's dad and his character Spartacus. Being born in the early 60s me and my brother fashioned wooden swords to do battle; after secretly watching Spartacus reruns on KVOS TV.
Most often we would battle who was going to be Spartacus.
After that we joined forces to battle the Romans (our older sister) a few years older than us, who would run away to get the Roman Army (our mom) to rescue her. It seems we could never win against the army (mom), we always got enslaved (more chores like actually washing dishes while standing on stools) as punishment.
Or battles were real sometimes mom had taken me and my brother in for stitches. Dad would roll his eyes and shake his head and wave his finger at us and say there is enough war in the world without you two going at it.
The oldest of us four, our much older brother, was our Secret Amour, made swords out of plywood and gave us old hockey helmets and gloves to wear that were too big. I wonder if the folks ever figured out how we made such good swords?
I found out decades later our armourer put razor thin saw kerfs in the plywood swords so they would break so we could not beat each other to death, so I am told, I thought we were just too strong, like superman that's another story.
The swords that did not break in a timely fashion we ended up with stitches.
The Potato Gun wars were brutal; another story. We wore dads old scratch up safety goggles in the Potato Wars - the Irish vs the English. This VERY much frowned upon as dad was English with roots going back to King Edward the III time frame and mom was half Irish and half Finnish. We often formed a Irish gang to shoot dad with our potato guns, then hid them, then the potato guns disappeared never to return again soon after that.

I like your point - most especially with this episode. There were at least a handful of times I was asking myself "what the hell are they clapping about?" The comment wasn't funny, wasn't clear, offered absolutely nothing to the discussion, and fell completely flat, and yet still, a big round of applause.
I'm quite certain there's an orchestrated effort with a crew member and a "clap" or "applaud" message sign flashing at the studio crowd. However, I wonder if the guests are fed or offered set up jokes, or additional punch lines to BM's jokes to keep it light and funny, hence the instructions to the audience to react.
I wonder how far down the roster BM had to go for this week's guests. I'd guess well north of 15 others didn't return their call(s) request or simply "couldn't make it this week".
I'll add this thought as well: What would the panel have looked like this week if Kamala had secured the presidency. Wouldn't Rachel Maddow, Mark Cuban, and DeNiro be a funny collection?
BM wouldn't have needed to call ANYONE. There'd be a line at the studio on Wednesday morning that wrapped around the building four times.

Do you remember the line up that ran with him though. I’ve never in my life and I’m old , felt such humiliation for our country ( well till Harris)as the lot that was running- Pete B alone… they all looked like people that worked at Sears. If Kennedy hadn’t come into the picture and given us hope … I’ve never felt that frightened for my grandchildren’s future . And then it got even worse- Harris. Anyway, that’s why I voted Biden at the time - he was the least of all evils. At least he looked like presidential material

I'm so overstretched emotionally over our politics, not sure I can be coherent right now - but something f'ing needs to change - get the f'ing $$$ out - oh yea, we can't, the rich people like the system the way it is, and the supremely corrupt court already gave it to them a decade ago. Michael Douglas and then proceeds to ask him his views. Bill himself is a celebrity. News people and politicians (right and left) are now celebrities appearing on talk shows and shows like Entertainment Tonight. Hell, the one elected president was/is a celebrity himself appearing on all of those shows and even had his own. The line between the two blurred years ago.

Biden and Harris passed the American Rescue, Inflation Reduction, Chips and other acts. All of these acts took money from middle class taxpayers and gave it to the ultra rich to do green energy projects involving solar, wind , hydrogen , batteries , EVs . The bills pick winners and losers by choosing who gets subsidized. Instead let companies build their own factories and compete. Let companies build their own chip factories. The American Rescue act took trillions of dollars from taxpayers and gave it to state and local government so they could boost salaries, pensions and benefits and do some construction . Government employees already are overpaid and few private sector people have any pensions . Billions went to NGOs and Catholic "charities" to arrange for millions of people to cross our borders and give them free housing, cash, medical assistance and everything else. The people that ran these NGOs have made a fortune.
