I've always wanted to go but we live in Riverside, CA. So we always went to The Ren Pleasure Faire when it was in Devore (videos on my channel) from 1989 - 2002. But that looks amazing....great video 💖☮
I love going to TX Ren Faire. Always a fun time with the shows and the jousting plus the food. Plenty of things to see or do for every taste. My favorite theme is Celtic Christmas!
I love this renaissance festival. I met my husband there and married him there in one of the chapels. This place will always have a special place in my heart.
I’ve gone 3 times but my favorite experience was the first. I went with my middle school orchestra and got to play on the stage. So many good memories. I bought a tiara on my first visit and have made it a tradition to buy one every time I go.
That's my wife and I with the viking Shields, built em myself. Super cool to be in this video. It's truly lots of fun, we decided to make it our "thing" instead of comicon. This video is great and shows how much there is to do, well done 😊
I didn't know this place existed. Thanks for taking us along. Me & my kids (both in college) still enjoy going to the Bristol Renaissance Faire on the Illinois Wisconsin border during the summer
I went to Bristol last year!! It was my first time and i enjoyed it. I took a cat nap to the left of the gate under a few trees and no one bothered me. Lol.
Great video! Thank you so much for coming and enjoy the food and our performance (That’s me dancing on the drum 16:06) We are Shunyata belly dance, at the Red Lion Tavern 🥰
The "Greek Ampitheater" (my name for it...(haven't been in a few years) is the best as is the "Sea Dragon" ....the ampitheater has great dancing and great music with a LOT of seating area to enjoy the gyro's , kababs and, my favorite, the Baklava! To the left of the entrance (first road, outer edge) will take you to the (pirate's cove"...i think is name) where you can find a LOT of accessories/weaponry while the back most road...to the right of the jousting arena and past the "May Pole" (FOOD...LOTS OF FOOD) will take you to the backside where there are more entertaining rides and games (for kids)......GOD I MISS THIS PLACE!
The theatre of Fools is always amazing! They pulled me on stage once and it was hilarious. The man and wife who run the show are amazing performers and great people.
As someone who has gone since she was 3 and worked since she was 16 (this year will be my 12th year working!!!) I so appreciate the work and love you put into this. Also seeing my own personal friends and loved ones bring me so much joy
Seconded on Sherwood. Not as big, but far more of an artisan's faire, and is much like the Texas Renaissance Festival used to be in the 80s and very early 90s
Pro Tip: go Halloween weekend and camp Fri-Sun. If you like to party and revel in debauchery after hours…it is Legendary! Prepare to stay up really late and come up with a strategy to find your camp spot when walking is a slight challenge. I go 2 or 3 times a year and it is my absolute favorite thing!!
omg YES YES YES. Its like you know me. I plan to go back to camp but damn! doing it around my favorite holiday would be the best time!! Definitely going to do this. Thanks for the tip 🥰🥰
I have been going to this festival every year for about 14-16 years ( I don't remember what year I start). I love this faire and camp as well. Such a friendly and welcoming vibe.
This great faire is open from early October until the weekend after Thanksgiving. It is an amazing place. Food, fights, falcons, and fun! I go two or three times each fall. People watching is fantastic! I find costume pieces and treasures a plenty! I love it!
We live 30 minutes away from TRF and we go every year. Sometimes multiple times in a season. We've camped a lot out there and even camped all weekends in order to attend every weekend. We love that place. You missed the fire show at the arena along with the fireworks at the end of the night. It super cool as well.
I definitely want to camp next year. I imagine It would be a blast with everyone in costume 🫠 I would simply pass away from joy. You are the second person to tell me about the firework show, I can’t believe I missed😭
They have a fairly easy life but they have to work just like many of us do. They work four month a year and there are weight restrictions on riders. They are very friendly and sociable elephants and have it much better than zoo captives or of wild elephants facing habitat destruction and poachers.
They're actually cared for very well. They rotate so no one gets tired and they close the rides an hour before the fire show to remove them from the property so the fireworks don't scare them. I worked the TRF and hung out with the animal handlers.
@@tinabeanajustabean they're raised in captivity. They're treated better than most of all the vendors, patrons, staff and stage. They don't work all day and they're cared for very well. I've been dragging my 3 sons to Ren Faires their whole entire lives. My oldest makes his own weapons. My youngest is a full armour knight fighter, weapons and all. My middle is a business man that watches and tries to be a grown up about it.😉 I love it so much.
He started making knives from rebar from Dads concrete truck when he was probably 12. Build a fire and hammer it out. He just kept going. He is now 40. Amazing to watch. Stop and watch at the faire sometime. Fascinating.
We go every year I never knew it was the biggest. It’s a lot of fun and I am so proud it’s in Houston area. We have so much to offer and Houston is so welcoming to everyone.
I looked forward to fall every year because of the Renaissance Fair. The first time my family and I went, we rented costumes that was at the front gate after we realized we could wear costumes at the fair. After that, it became my family's tradtion to go every year and it was a must to go in costume. I loved going every year and seeing all the costumes and stores. It was also customary for me and my family to find an item or piece of clothing to add on to our costumes. The food is great, especially the turkey legs! 🤤 The entertainment was everywhere! You can even have your birthday and a wedding there where you get escorted by the king's guard! And around noon, you get to see the parade of the stores, groups, and others you see around the fair! Each weekend that it's open has a theme from fairies to pirates to barbarians to knights. It even runs trough Halloween so the stores and staff walking around have candy to give out to trick or treaters. And the last weekend it's open is christmas themed to welcome the holiday. As the years went by it grew in popularity which unfortunately meant more drunkards, so if you plan to take children with you, beware! Because you will see and hear things that are adult themed.
I've been going here since I was a wee lad and I'm so glad you showcased it and enjoyed yourself. I even worked here one year and got to be a Tomato Guy! It was fun. If you and anyone else wants a bit of advice on what is the best weekend to go if you aren't drawn to any one weekend in particular, the last weekend, Celtic Christmas, is by far the best. Not only do they put out a bunch of great Christmas decorations, but the weekend is 3 days instead of 2, you have the best chance of it being cool (or even cold), and lots of stores have stuff on sale. Hope you come back for another go!
Heart's Delight started as a vendor at the original Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Southern California and have expanded to multiple festivals around the country. They are an historic Ren Faire vendor, and I'm pleased you found them and love them so much! Huzzah! Thanks for the lovely video. I still need to visit this faire in TX. Cheers.
Great video! It got so cold that weekend! It's impossible to do everything there but the Pirate areas and the greek agora are fun spots. The Pride of Bedlam is the other best band there. There's also a lot of activities and revelry after the fair in the campgrounds!
My mother used to be a vendor at the Renaissance Fest in Sterling NY. They used to have the camel and the Elephant. Riding the elephant was one of my fondest memories there!
I agree Barbarian weekend is usually a bit chilly and that is the one when some people wear the least amount of garb. This last year especially. But as always was a fun season. And I hope you had a great time while you were there.
I’ve only been to one, but elves and mushrooms galore. I was a hobbit. I think most generally interpret it as medieval fantasy at this point, which I prefer
I've been to TRF every year since 2009. If you're able to do it, camp. The campground once the faire closes is like half the experience. Nice food choice btw. The beef stew breadbowl is my go-to hangover meal on Sunday morning.
The first time I went to TRF was in 1984 and love going. The King's Feast is a must in my book to attend. Sherwood is about to start and the Scarborough in which I used to work at
Living in Texas for many years, TRF and nearby Scarborough Faire and nearby Sherwood Forest Faire have totally spoiled me against smaller faires...especially up in here in Washington where we only have a fledgling little faire that has had to shift locations.
I worked this fair in my first year traveling! I was in the German district of the Faire near where the outdoor wedding halls were at the time. I saw some familiar stuff! I'm gearing up for PA's last Renaissance Faire weekend and then stock up on suncatchers for my aunt to take with her to the next Faire. She doesn't participate at TX's Faire anymore. I worked her and her business partner's kid's costumes back then, and she sold her handmade messenger bags nearby. I do not miss working in a tent on a hill! PA has a booth =)
Love the Steampunk Emporium shoutout!! I got one of their leather hip bags (in a style they no longer sell, actually) 10 years ago and it's held up amazingly! I wear it every day in place of a purse since it fits my phone, wallet, and keys and I'm not the type to carry a lot with me. Despite daily wear it only has needed a few minor repairs - replacing some rivets that bent after 6 years and redoing some stitching this year that had begun to unravel. So if you want a bag that gets you plenty of compliments and lasts a decade, I highly recommend them! That said, always fun to see someone new to permanent structure ren fests visit one - part of the reason they aren't open year-round is because the vendors travel to fests all over the country! in fact, the texas ren fest overlaps entirely with the carolinas ren fest, and it starts just after the second-biggest (by attendance size), the minnesota fest, which is also my home fest!
You have to check out the Kaltenberger Ritterturnier knights festival in Germany. By far the coolest mideval festival I have ever seen. Been twice now and its well worth a visit if you enjoyed this one in Texas.
I loved this place.... It's like leaving through a portal for a while. I liked it better 20 years ago...was wide open... lots of extra space so people were not so crowded... all the extra buildings and such have taken some of the charm away for me. I don't go as much as I use too... but, always love the TexRenFest!!! Still lots of fun.
Michigan Renaissance Festival, In Holly Grove. I have been going since 1981. I love it! Water Wenches, Tartanic, Ded Bob, so many good acts. The Queen there is awesome too and the food is great. Lots of stage acts, to many for me to count and lots of land there to walk and paths to follow. I have seen Hey Nunny Nunny on u-tube but not at our fair yet not sure why they keep missing us. :(
You showed that one doesn't have to break the bank for a great look. Thrift items and pieces you already owned worked perfectly! One can always add high-end pieces over time. Well done fair maiden! We are planning to be there in 2024!
What a lovely experience! Thanks for showing it all off! Love your ears. Heheh! Strange to see African elephants & a camel in Texas, but there you are nothing is too far from where it originated.
Went back in 2021. We had a great time. I wish the garden didnt smell bad. The morning was the most enjoyable time for us. It had fewer people. By 2 pm it was a zoo of bodies and dust clouds.
As someone who lives in Mi and attends that Ren Fest every year, it’s so cool to see others! I’ve noticed a lot of similarities , and same acts, that travel from faire to faire. But instead of the coconut cart, we have the pickle cart. With huge fresh pickles. I’d love to travel to other states fairs/festivals someday!
I remember going to this every year as a kid as I grew up not too far from here in a suburb north of Houston. I also tend to remember earlier on, there was a lot more drunks in the earlier days, I think they've kinda made it more family-friendly, but it's been a few years since I've been.
We have a yearly ren faire called the Nor Cal Renaissance Faire and Hearts Delight has been there for as long as I've gone. I bought an outfit from them over 20 years ago and everything is still in amazing condition. Worth the price for the quality!!
I used to go to the Maryland renfest every year. I miss it so much. We now live in Yexas but haven’t been able to go to this renfest yet. It’s a bit of a drive for us. I really hope to go someday. ❤️
I don't know if they still do it, or if you stayed long enough to see, but the end-of-night firedancing and firework celebration at the jousting arena is definitely something to experience.
I've been there 6-7 times over the past decades and it's never been cold. You were lucky. You should have shown the firelight festival at the end. I never knew it was the biggest.
Unless youve been its hard to really explain how big this place is. Their parking lot is the size of other faires entire venues. You can just walk around without stopping for hours and not make it through the entire park.
This year, please don't miss the biggest show of all. It's the Fire Show in the Arena, starting at 7:20pm. It's free and proceeds the fireworks. The audience count is something over (way over) 8,000. Hugely popular.
OK, Ive seen several Ren Fair videos lately and each is very similar. However Im sure you are aware, that your production quality is so much better! Good for you! Very impressive, that its the first thing you notice when your intro to the video rolls. Wishing you all the best !
If you ever make it to Sherwood Faire, ask for the Bee Sting, it's not on the menu but most places serve it. It's half mead and half cider, tastes incredible and is the most alcohol you can get for the price in the faire. Not sure if TXRF offers it...?
It’s so cool to see your video I’ve been going to this renaissance Festival ever sense I was a kid. If you have the chance to come back this year you definitely should, it appears you missed the best show hands down (Solar rain, which happens after sunset, and is a literal fire show with choreographed dance and fights.) and what I consider to be the second best show, full armor combat.
Tks. for posting well done. I love Renn fairs. I started out as a Musketeer because I was trained as a Fencer while going thru college. Problem was at many Renn Fairs most go as a Pirate. As a Musketeer I was sort of the odd man out being one of the Kings Guard. I then acquired enough wardrobe and armor to transform to the famous explorer Capt. Cortez. My next purchases will be to become the Wizard Merlin from the Excalibur movie. The two major pieces I need to have hand made are the Merlin's Silver Skull cap, and then Merlins Staff will have some high tech abilities to appear like I am magic casting. Hazar!!!!!!!
I've been going to the Texas Renfest for almost 50 years. Going again this weekend for Opening day 23'. The best period in my opinion was in the 1990s. It's gotten way to busy and crowded with to many shops. Food is outrageously priced now. $18 for a turkey leg ???? I used to buy them there for $6-7. Don't care for the "themed" weekends they do now. "Pirate" weekend, " Super Hero" weekend ??? What does that have to do with Renaissance ??? Not saying it isn't interesting to go if you've never been but it isn't the same anymore and very commercialized now. I only go once every couple years just to have a few food items I can only get there once a year and to see what's changed. I've always wanted to go to Scarborough Fair near Dallas. Maybe try next year .
The whole point of the faires if you are not shopping is to watch the entertainment; bands, comedy troupes, acrobats...these guys travel from faire to faire and honestly make their living as entertainers. My local faire in Georgia is smaller than this one, though one of the largest in the southeast, and in 2 days we could not manage to see all the shows on the schedule.
Just checking the background to see if I can find me and my group 😂 I’ll be there next weekend!!! Learned how to 3d print to so it’s gonna be a good one
I just got finished going to Norman’s Medieval Fair in Oklahoma, where it cost $10.00 for parking, free admission, free maps, same prices for food, drinks, clothes, jewelry, $10.00 for rides, and there used to be elephant rides, but they’ve phased that out in recent years. It’s always a fun experience I look forward to every year! I’m glad to check out Ren Faires in other states through your videos!
Our Colorado Ren Fest used to have elephants, camels, llamas and a big cat show with cats from a wildlife rescue (the shows helped them earn money for their organization) but our Governor outlawed out-of-state animal shows, so the animals that were part of the faire for decades are now gone. Guess I'll have to go to the Texas Faire to see them!
This is very similar to the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Bristol, WI, though apparently over twice the acreage. But does that equate to more events, or just more spread out over a larger area. I suspect the latter. Though it would definitely be fun to compare the two. Maybe Texas has more food options? That would be nice to have at Bristol as the lines are always excessively long.
It's certainly spread out but if there isn't a shop or theater then there is a garden or chapel or chessboard, there is stuff everywhere and as you saw with the jousting, the venues are enormous. Yes, there are a ton of food and drink options and the lines are usually reasonable.
I didn't know it was 70 acres. I wonder if its always been that big or if they added to it. I've been at least 3 or 4 times. Last time I was there was mid 2000s. Every time was a good time and it's very easy to get lost or separated from your party. I live in Germany now so at least every month there is a medieval festival. For anyone who is doubting the authenticity of the renaissance festival in Texas....its legit with any thing I've been to here in Germany and much much larger.
Hope you enjoyed my take on the faire. Have you been to the Texas Renaissance Festival before?

I do appreciate you sharing some of the mum and pup company's thank you
The staek on a stink stand up at the entrance is literally the best staek ive ever had.
Looks like a fun place to do some liberty caps, walking through my local natire reserve is enchanting already.
one thing's for sure... ur the cutest elf this side of Rivendell !
ily
I worked this fair in my first year traveling! I was in the German district of the Faire near where the outdoor wedding halls were at the time. I saw some familiar stuff!
I'm gearing up for PA's last Renaissance Faire weekend and then stock up on suncatchers for my aunt to take with her to the next Faire. She doesn't participate at TX's Faire anymore. I worked her and her business partner's kid's costumes back then, and she sold her handmade messenger bags nearby. I do not miss working in a tent on a hill! PA has a booth =)
This really looks so cool! And I love your outfit! 😍
Thank you so much love
I always enjoy visiting TRF. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I'm glad you got to experience one of my favorite places!
You have to check out the Kaltenberger Ritterturnier knights festival in Germany. By far the coolest mideval festival I have ever seen. Been twice now and its well worth a visit if you enjoyed this one in Texas.
I appreciate you telling me about this one, I’ll definitely look it up!!! I think I read it’s one of Europe largest?
Oh wow! Heart's Delight is where my corset is from. I got it at the Minneapolis ren faire. I love it
The name of the band is Saxon Moon and the song may have been called Pathfinder.
Looking it up now!
The name of the band is above the drummer’s head on a wood plaque.
I have worked at Fair for years thank you for loving it as much as I do

I grew up in Houston and went to uni about an hour away from the RenFest. Worked there two years in a row. What a party after all the guests left.
yup, I go every year for my birthday, and I never get tired of it!
I have fond memories of visiting this faire a lot back in the early 2000s. I need to go back someday soon...
You must go back!!! It’s so fun🥰🥰🥰
You showed that one doesn't have to break the bank for a great look. Thrift items and pieces you already owned worked perfectly! One can always add high-end pieces over time. Well done fair maiden! We are planning to be there in 2024!
Thank you so much! Appreciate you saying that!!!🤍🤍
Nice necklace, too!
The Texas Ren Fest has both! I’ve avoided the pickle men ever since one of them threw pickle juice on me
The Texas renaissance festival is amazing, i try to go every year and this year will be my first time camping on the campgrounds. It can't come sooner
I was at barbarian invasion last year! The crowd was awesome that day!
I am a renaissance vendor and I love hearts delight!
RIGHT! I love basic staples in a fantasy wardrobe because there is so much you can do with them
lmao i love the angry chorus of "hey!"s when he threw his bag at the wench
You are so right. I’m confused by the person In The comments who said they’ve been here and got through it in 30 mins, I’m like huh?!
I’ve been here so many times never knowing that it was the biggest in the world lol I thought they were all like this
This year, please don't miss the biggest show of all. It's the Fire Show in the Arena, starting at 7:20pm. It's free and proceeds the fireworks. The audience count is something over (way over) 8,000. Hugely popular.
I'm not sure where you got Pathfinder for the band @ 4:38 when the band's name is on the sign behind them: Saxon Moon.
Yep. Came to the comments to say that, you beat me to it.
"Pathfinder"? That's Saxon Moon. I love them!
OK, Ive seen several Ren Fair videos lately and each is very similar. However Im sure you are aware, that your production quality is so much better! Good for you! Very impressive, that its the first thing you notice when your intro to the video rolls. Wishing you all the best !
The mead is pretty great there as well!
It’s strange to see the faire I’ve went to my whole life in a RUclips video- I love it
It’s a cosplay fair. They tossed the renaissance away long ago.
Tks. for posting well done.
The band at 4:44 is Saxon Moon!!
Hearts Deliiiiight! I got my outfit from their shop at my local Faire years ago lol.
I've been here multiple times and had no idea that it was the biggest in the world, that's crazy
RIGHT! It’s pretty cool to say you’ve been
I've only ever made it to GA, VA, and MD RenFests
hope to make TX one someday
The whole point of the faires if you are not shopping is to watch the entertainment; bands, comedy troupes, acrobats...these guys travel from faire to faire and honestly make their living as entertainers. My local faire in Georgia is smaller than this one, though one of the largest in the southeast, and in 2 days we could not manage to see all the shows on the schedule.
Just checking the background to see if I can find me and my group 😂 I’ll be there next weekend!!! Learned how to 3d print to so it’s gonna be a good one
I would love to visit TRF. But alas, I dont know how I'd get my costume through the TSA (New Jersey here)
you might just need to buy some new weapons at TRF 🥰
Incredible. Thank you for sharing
I was surprised when comparing the faires on how large the one up here in MA is. I've always thought it small but it isn't.
I didn’t know it was the biggest but it’s the only one I’ve ever gone to and I love it. Thank you for the video.
I really want to go but I live in a whole other country, which doesn't do these things. I wished they did 😢
I just got finished going to Norman’s Medieval Fair in Oklahoma, where it cost $10.00 for parking, free admission, free maps, same prices for food, drinks, clothes, jewelry, $10.00 for rides, and there used to be elephant rides, but they’ve phased that out in recent years. It’s always a fun experience I look forward to every year! I’m glad to check out Ren Faires in other states through your videos!
Free admission!! Woah that’s a new one
I live in Fort Worth but went to Houston several times, never heard of this place. Now I know where my next weekend trip will be!
My Dear you look absolutely stunning. I just stumbled on this guy and I'm hooked
