Thank you .Just under 4 min and told me everything I needed to know . I came here after watching (only the start of ) two others ( 14 and16 min ) made by wannabe comedians . If I want to go to the theatre I will . If I need to get a job done I don't want my time wasting with theatre . . . Thanks again .

RepairClinic.com will the saw get damaged if you don't put in the soft start spring? Because I replaced my saw with the stihl elasto start. I have the exact same saw the echo cs 310.

This video says 4-5 full rotational twist in the spring, this made me fail every time. My string would get stuck at full extension. I finally played it by ear and only put 3 full twist in the spring. It now works.

Here is my advice: Make sure the white cover (on top of the recoil spring) is fully seated inside the recessed orange plastic. If the white piece comes up just a small bit, the recoil spring will expand and you will not get the white cover back in place. If this happens, the rope spool will not be able to sit low enough to completely grip the recoil spring.

Forget to mention the geniuses made this chain saw so you need a star wrench to remove the cover and you skipped the part where you threaded the rope into the handle prior to pulling it thru with the needle nose pliers.
