It's ironic that she can see the future but starts to forget her past
There are a lot ironies in Twilight, biggest one for me is Carlisle, who is a vampire is also a doctor who saves lives.
It's a way of mind to cope and recover. To forget and live happily
It makes sense in an ironic way though coz the brain can only remember so much.
Even though she forgets the trauma of her past it shows that even immortal creatures have vulnerabilities and in a way are still attached to their human sense of self. I find that kind of beautiful.
If you notice closely this is exactly what meyers intended to do. The super abilities of a vampire are usually based on their human life. Say Bella as a human was the only one to shield her thoughts from edward, hence her ability. Emmet was killed while fighting a boar so as a vampire he was extremely strong. Since Alice doesn't remembers her past she get the ability to see future. Get the patern?
Alice her back story, could be a whole movie itself.

That would be an amazing movie trilogy. Each movie is each back story of the main characters and how they met together. Would be amazing. They'd make some bank. That and harry potter stories too. They talk alottt about them but only.briefy like there is a whole "world" that we know little about.

The whole twilight saga had so much potential honestly, but it was wasted as it solely focused on Bella and Edward.
But the story was Fully Bella's vision and her Narration right from the begining......if each and every character is focussed then the books will be in thousands 🤣🤣
@@arin7981 I think she meant that everyone else's story could have been expanded upon- especially considering that Smeyer is still writing. Unfortunately, instead of tapping in the goldmine she has in the backstories of all the Cullen's and the vampire world, she just keeps giving all her attention to Bella and Edward. I mean, did we really need Life & Death?

@@diraylacroix4172 The point she's trying to make is that Smeyer obviously had way better potential stories in the backgrounds of the background and side characters, but decided to write an entire series on one of the most boring couples with the most cringe inducing love story and then wrote two more books which were just revamps of the series when she could've written a book or two on several of the other characters.
cool fact: real pearl necklaces are strung with a knot between each pearl, so if the necklace broke they wouldnt all take a tumble. a pearl necklace falling to complete pieces is a sure mark of a fake.

The most upsetting part about the Twilight universe is that the focus is on an angsty teenager who can’t decide who she wants to date, instead of really deep and important stories like these.
The movies annoy me bc in the books she never once considered dating anyone but Edward except for one scene when she thought he was never coming back. Even then, she described it as kind of settling
The good thing is at least we got the short second life of Bree tanner to glimpse at the darker and more twisted side of vanpires

Im sorry but Bella, even if she was an angsty teenager, knew exactly what she wanted to do.
It was never a question as to who Bella wanted to date. Bella and Edward were endgame from the start. Hollywood made it a team vs team thing.
That said,i really missed back stories of the rest of the Cullens,and the Volturi. I would love a Jane and Alec movie

I hated that they excluded Alice Backstory from the first movie. Her connection too James was way to important to be just dismissed. Especially because they went on and told the Backstory of the rest of the cullens at least to some degree.

Payton Johnson James started talking about Alice while alone with Bella. He said something along the lines of “only once have I smelled blood like yours, and she escaped. Have you ever wondered who turned your dear Alice?”... definetely paraphrasing there, but he kinda told bits of her story while trying to murder Bella

@@paytonjohnson5964 If I remember correctly James didn't turn Alice, but he hunted and injured her quite badly. In order to save her life an older vampire, that worked in the asylum turned her into a vampire, to save her from James further attacks. She escaped the asylum in the process. Because of all the "treatment" inflicted on her in the asylum and because of the trauma James caused, Alice didn't remember him anymore. But I could be wrong. I read these books at least 13 years ago.
MiamiSunrise24 almost. The old vampire had taken a liking to her. When James came to hunt her, the vampire turned her to save her from James. James killed the old vampire in retaliation but lost his desire to harm Alice
Alice is one of my favorite characters. 😭 She was done so dirty in her human life. The fact that she went through all the suffering but then is just the happiest sweetest kindest person to Bella and everyone….I want to be more like that. ❤

🙌🏻same! I think a lot of people feel this way. I tend to find stories more interesting when they distribute their focus a bit more equally between the characters. I know it’s Bella’s story but the movies really snubbed us of a substantial amount of time with the other Cullens. They’re all over 100 years old, that makes for some interesting stories

No wonder Rosalie was jealous of Bella. All the female characters had tragic backstories were they didn’t choose to become vampires, because they were trapped in a life or death situation.

According to Midnight Sun, that’s not why Rosalie actually hates Bella. The real reason is because Edward didn’t find her attractive but found Bella attractive.
rosalie was brought home to be cullens partner but he didn’t like her he liked bella instead that’s why she didn’t like bella because he choose a human over her

karen sandoval Yes! It comes out on the new book! Called Midnight Sun. It’s from Edwards perspective. He hears her thoughts. So she’s basically thinking that she expected Edward to be attracted to her since she’s described as gorgeous. Edward isn’t attracted to her so she assumed that Edward just wasn’t interested in anyone. Then come to find out he’s interested in someone like a human that is so “plain”. That’s how Rosalie describes Bella.
I’m honestly interested in Leah having a story. Imagine how cool it would be if she imprinted on a vampire.

Alice was turned to protect her from james once she was a vampire he had no interest in her so he killed the groundskeeper (the vampire who turned her) she woke up thirsty, in pain, alone, and had no memories she went on living alone for years until she had a vision of jasper in a bar when she found him she told him "let's go home" and showed up at the cullens house and moved into edwards room (this is from memory of the books btw so some of it might be incorrect )

Wait...she had the powers, probably a less powerful version, before she was a vampire. 😲 So vampires have these weaker abilities as humans and the vampirism enhances it along with their other senses 🤔 interesting. (Okay 😄, stop telling me it was in the books 😅 it's kinda condescending when you see the 10+ other people telling the same thing and decide to comment it anyway, I read the books and watched the movie when I was younger and haven't looked at either of them for years. 😅 I can't even remember what I did yesterday, my memory is so bad. This isn't for the people who are genuinely trying to be helpful tho 😉)
This is described in books. Jasper was very charismatic and moved up the ranks in the war quickly due to his ability to manipulate people to see things his way.
We don't hear about Edward but my guess was he was always sensitive to people's body language/internal monologue
@@Anastasiyax I just realized that Bella had her power as well before she was turned. After becoming a vampire she was able to share it with others after the montage in the forest.

Why is this only recommended to me now??? This is MASTERFUL. It's not like most cheap, fanmade films, the editing is perfect, the casting is solid, the production design is beautiful, the script is amazing, and I fricking love the color grading ughhh. An unknown vampire who was a groundskeeper at the asylum, Alice had a vision of James the moment he caught her scent. She told her only friend the groundskeeper, and he got her out of the asylum and changed her. I got all this from " The Twilight saga, the official illustrated guide", it has all the backstories of all the characters.

Lots of people didn't know (if they only saw the movies) that James (the vamp that went after bella) is actually who turned Alice 😳 That was a reason why he went for Bella. Because he found it interesting that Alice was protecting a human. There's more to why he did it too. Not mainly because of Edward at all.
James didnt turn Alice. He wanted to feed on/hunt her and an old vampire turned her and he lost interest because of that
James was hunting her. Grounds man changed her to save her. James killed him

Funnily enough, my boyfriend and I decided to day drink the other day and rewatch the Twilight series. We kept taking about how Twilight had/has the potential to be a richly creative story. The perspectives of Bella & Edward were targeted at preteen girls (hence the angst, melodrama, and hyper focused perspective on the Bella+Edward relationship). A more mature exploration of perhaps the prequels could be interesting.
Kudos, never got my hubby to watch the movies with me. He's always suddenly super busy with something unexpected whenever I ask 😂

I agree, I've read the last book before the movie came out, about a year ago I decided to read the host, and because of it I decided to read twilight from the beginning, and to be honest, the first book was kind of a disappointment and I started to understand the lack of personality that Bella has in the movies
