Spirit's looking at Jackie's talons as if they make fish appear "magically". Poor thing had it made in her first almost 100 days. Now comes the "Tough Love".
I figured Spirit should have fledged by now on her own journey. Apparently she's a daddy and momma's girl and love everything brought to her
Yes, it will come - the tough love. Hard for us humans to watch the natural world, and it’s hard life for beings we care about, such as dear Spirit. We love her so.

That was so adorable. I get the feeling since Spirit missed breakfast, she didn’t eat all day. My guess is Jackie and Shadow are trying to get her to observe them hunting for prey and when you’re hungry, you’re more motivated to learn. They are both so disciplined. You can tell Jackie was very patient and sympathetic to Spirit’s grievance. Their natural instincts and communication are amazing as well. It was as if Jackie told Shadow not to bring dinner to the nest and to let her handle this. Lol.
I’m watching live, after 10:00pm PT and wondering if spirit ate at all🤷♀️? Hope so?

Pretty sure she ate off the nest during the day - she has been doing crop drops on the nest overnight

I think she was hungry & very, very tired. Poor kid. Took it out on mom & fell asleep 😴. Happy tho cuz she had company 🥰 🦅

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw spirit on the nest after 8pm. I thought I was watching an old video. Love to see spirit on the nest. Spirit is such a girly girl, talkative and sassy - just like her mama! Ty for the video!

In the end, Spirit threw herself down on the nest bed in a huff, pouting. Just like a child after a tantrum. 😄 I do feel bad for her, but life is for learning, and Spirit is learning from 2 amazing eagle parents. ❤

Spirit has spirit and spunk and tenacity! Reminded me of my son! He was also spoiled. Ha ha! I was my Daddy's little girl, so I'm partial to Shadow and his precious time with Spirit. 🦅💜🦅
I’m so amazed by Jackie and Shadow’s patience with their baby girl. Jackie just patiently listens to her complaints and occasionally touches her with her beak as if to say, “It’ll get better, Youngster, I promise,”
Spirit was happy to be back in her nest. At about 4:52 she put her beak into Jackie's mouth (I think it was Jackie). She was hungry. - Stephanie
Apparently, poor hungry Spirit isn't able to be catching her own fish just yet. When she does catch her first fish, I'm sure we all hope that she brings it back to the nest so that we are able to appreciate her achievement.

Poor Spirit was hangry and ended up going to bed exhausted. Such patience from Jackie and this too was a learning experience for our dear eagle family ❤️

Seeing Jackie arrive and 20 seconds later Spirit screeching and flying in to the nest made my day. Appears hungry and looking for fish dinner. Snuggle up with mom tonight on the tree limb.Tomorrow is another fish day. Love our 🦅 eagle family 🦅
At 10:20 when Spirit picks herself up, wipes the tears, sniffles, and goes to sit next to Mommy.

My cat loved this and I put it full screen so he could enjoy it- He's completely fascinated by it. It's funny to think my cat and I enjoying the same show so much. I'm going to leave the live feeds on for him when i go to work.
OMG! My cats FREAK out when they hear the eagles make any kind of noise. I have to turn the volume DOWN and watch as quietly as I can! Lol. Its as if my cats are afraid that one of these eagles will come grab them up and haul them off! And eagle like Jackie certainly could! But then again, my cats are a good 20+ pounds. So funny that your cat loves it. 😂
Watching this eagle family is some of the best reality show entertainment around. Many human parents could learn a lot about patience and tolerance from these eagle parents. Despite the tantrums, ankle biting, squealing in their face, biting tail feathers and claiming her territory in their face with wings outstretched as she stands over them from the branch above, they just take it all in stride. It is not only comical but endearing to see how they patiently put up with it as part of the job. I love nothing more than hearing Spirit announcing her grand entrance before she actually comes in for the landing. Yesterday she came in fast and loud assuming there was food and parent(s) waiting at the nest, and the second she landed and realized nobody was there she immediately stopped carrying on. It was kind of sad tho to then see her go to her front porch perch and hear her calling for them again and again (for the better part of an hour or more) until she gave up and flew off to the Simba tree, so I was happy to see them here later in the eve even if without food. She does seem hungry as if maybe she hasn’t eaten in a long time, and sounds like she’s scolding them/demanding to know where they’ve been haha. They know what they’re doing. And the parents’ constant OCD-rearranging of the sticks around the nest bed even now is hilarious to watch, and something I can relate to.
Had to revisit this "Squee Tantrum". Hasn't even been two days since Spirit left for her life journey. Miss her already!! Soar High!!
Poor baby spirit she is so hungry she thought mom had food in her moitj. Jackie is like hush child your giving me a migraine.
Spirit is the worldwide "SQUEE Queen" of all Eaglets, bar none.. and I just love her so much.. She has been my favorite of all favorites of all the baby eaglets that I have watched grow from eggshell to fleggers.. I think her tantrums can be heard all across the lake.. and mom Jackie is so very patient with her too.. and we will all be crying our eyes out when she leaves the nest for good to find her new life where ever it may be.. The world will just most likely come to an end immediately after she leaves.
Thank you Cali Condor for posting so quickly. Perfect timing, they show up 1 min. after chat closes...Spirit very upset there is no food🐟. Then rearranges the nest an plops down for the night.😴 Jackie is such a great mom! ❤Probably doesn't want to miss breakfast.
I was thinking the same. At one point, it sounded like Spirit was sobbing.😥 Another lesson about how life on her own in the wild will often be. Jackie is an amazing eagle mother.
I think Jackie wanted her on the nest last night. The wind was high and maybe Spirit wouldn't have been able to hang onto the tree branch all night.

Jackie & Shadow keep changing the nest around & it seems like the area for Spirit to lie down is getting smaller & smaller? Is that part of pushing Spirit to leave home? Most eaglets never make it to adulthood. It's very sad. It's usually starvation that kills them.
