Jimmy and I were friends in the late 70’s and through the 80’s. I quit playing pool in the early nineties. Last time I saw him was at my father’s funeral. Wish I kept in touch with him. RIP friend.
I was introduced to Jimmy by way of a Bob fry cue. I was told that Jimmy played with one. I still have it. Then, I knew Jimmy by way of the US Open in Virginia. Came in with Swanee. It was like watching the queen walk into the arena. They were besties and you just couldn’t help but love them. Still do all these years later.
I love everything about this match, very entertaining and a great contrast in generations and styles. Billy and Buddy’s interactions and observations gelled really well together… wish there were more games with these two commentating together, more so than Billy and Danny Di IMHO.
Thank you accu stats. Do u have any videos with Greg Fix. He's kind of a local legend in our area. But I've only found one video playing 14:1 would like to find more if possible. Please and thank you
Billy correcting Buddy is funny. 33:02 Buddy was accurate. English will masse the ball. Billy wrongly said you need to hit 9 thin with outside English.
Thank you for the older 9 ball matches Accustats utube is tearing this production up with the commercials they are throwing in every 5 mins or so. Little do the product owners know but I'm not the only person who is listing the products advertised on utube ad a ni buy at all costs list of products. Too easy to open a spread sheet and list the products add to your shopping list very simple and effective hoping more people are doing this.
@@AccuStats I already pay for cable internet cost me $50 out in the sticks where I live and on SSDI I dont want to pay additional costs. Besides history on utube channel is free so why the need for dvd or dvr what ever you said. If it continues I'll find another out let for my television watching I'll never go back the cable TV in my life time.
🙏 Thank you sincerely Pat & Accu-Stats - And to everyone watching with me now ... At this moment in time - Life is just a little better now . May The Great Architect - The ruler and creator of the Alpha throughout eternity protect and bless everyone reading this comment infinity . So mote it be 🙏
Mike Howerton of AzBilliards now owns Accu-Stats (Pat sold it to him a few months ago). Mike is doing a fantastic job digitizing these classic videos and putting them out there for all to see!
I was a kid attending college in Upstate NY, this would have been around 1989 or 1990. I used to hang out (too often) at Classic Billiards on West Ridge Road in Greece (Rochester) NY. There was a straight pool tournament going on, with Hopkins, Sigel, Zuglan, Howey, Casanzio, etc. Pat Howey was the best straight pool player I had ever seen (with the slip-grip and all the powder on the butt of that blueish cue.... I'll never forget it). I watched part of Howey and Jimmy Fusco play straight pool after hours, I think it was $1,000 a game. If I remember correctly and the stories were accurate, Fusco beat Howey like 7 games in a row and Howey quit. May they both rest in peace. The years go by and my memory fades, but I'm blessed to have seen some amazing things over the years.
I lived in Dryden Ny when I was a contract Miner for for a mining contractor out of Montreal Canada sub contracted to Morton Salt the mine was 2600 ft below Lake Cayuga one of the three finger lakes.
Hello AccuStats! Hey, I recently read that you have in your archives a player-review match with Jimmy Fusco behind the mic. Is there any chance - PLEASE! - of posting this treasure? Many thanks for all you do for the sport!
People demeanor and just the common courtesy on display..everyone is settled down. They know to be quiet when players are shooting. The place isn't just, flooded with people. God this world would be SO MUCH more peaceful if their wasn't so damn many people. Anywhere near 8 Billion is just rediculous. Make no mistake about it, that is a major problem we are facing today. In 2023. And have been facing it for many years.. You don't let the world get heavily overpopulated and then try to kill everybody. You simply prevent them from having kids in the first place. It's like a loan from the bank..can you afford to have children? Are you married? How long have you been together? How do you intend to raise this child and give it a good home? If you can not answer these questions in a convincing manner then you are not allowed to have a child at this time. Or untill you can. Period.
The players back in this Era aren't as elegant as the players of today's time maybe it's just the evolution of the game maybe because these older generation players learn on slow nap cloth so their stroke isn't as smooth .. just my opinion don't beat up😁
The older players had alot to do with the refining of the hame today. RIP Grady Matthews was always thinking of rule changes to improve the games Nick Varner, Alan Hopkins and many more not mentioned they took alot of flak for the ideas and proposed rule changes to improve todays games. I remember hearing Grady say time and again maybe after his death they would consider his idea's...
The great breakers, Earl, Archer, Hall, Bustamante could all break! Although the equipment wasn't as good, the clothe was slower, they obviously didn't put new cloth for this tourney. And the break cues they make nowadays are magnificent! Many Ayers broke with an old sneaky Pete.

Bill and Buddy doing play-by-play are GOLD. Gotta love Buddy's laugh. These guys together are outstanding.
RIP Philly Flash. Great player and he was an even nicer guy.
Jimmy the gent.......knew him since I'm a kid. Class act......❤
Wow! I remember mail ordering this match on VHS from Pat Flemming after reading this matches recap in Billiards Digest. Thank you for the remaster!
My favorite match of accustats. Thanks Pat!
It was a great one, wasn't it?
Oh my. Thank you for uploading this. The best match in the history of matches.
Mine also! Never count out the underdog! What a match!
Do not know who is responsible for this video; one of the best matches ever! Thank you for taking us along!
I knew Jimmy in Philly and Atlantic City. Wonderful, happy guy. Gambler. A legend. Good dresser.
Couldn't agree more!
Great Match!!! Love the commentary with Buddy and Billy. Thank for uploading Accu Stats 👍

Best match I've seen in a long time!
That's what you call one hell of a match
Wonderful match! Thank you Pat!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for all these old matches
This was nice to watch. I used to play out Fusco's pool hall in Bucks, just outside of Philly back in the 1990s.
I love everything about this match, very entertaining and a great contrast in generations and styles. Billy and Buddy’s interactions and observations gelled really well together… wish there were more games with these two commentating together, more so than Billy and Danny Di IMHO.
Jimmy Fusco always had a smile on his face, he was a nice guy. RIP
Thank you pat.
Match is awesome. Great commentary
Glad you enjoyed it
California Kim... My favorite old skool player 🔥
2:04:30 is one of the best runouts you'll ever see!

Great game. Good shooting from Jimmy. Solid play!
that hill game made this a thriller!!!!!
Jimmy ain’t loosin to a dude named Kim.
A great match from beginning to end. I wonder what these guys are up to these days.
Jimmy fusco died almost 3 years ago.
One of if not the best match to ever see. A shame someone had to lose.
So you are the dork that thinks there should be a participation trophy?
Never seen Jimmy play seen his cousin Pete play looking forward to watching

Well said Gino.
Love watching Kim play monster
Fuscos the spot
Strickland vs davenport would be a treat!
Great footage... crazy how bad the equipment used to be in these tournys. That felt looks like any bar box in the worst dive bar in town 🤣
I know I love these old matches but damn Kim loved to scoop that cue ball because that sure as he'll isn't a jump shot lol
Kim shit racked Fusco every time but he inspects the rack on Fusco, no class there, Fusco didn't make anything on break early in match
Not to mention flinging balls down the table at Jimmy before the cb even stops

There was technical problems with that recording.
@@AccuStats Any more player-review stuff with Jimmy?
Sadly, no.
Is Jimmy Fusco Pete Fusco's father?

This is like watching old school NBA if they had 3' rims.
Incardona never shuts up

I think it’s because of all the continental Europeans at the top levels of the game. They’re all kind of “metrosexual”
