- On Monday, June 3rd, Redwood City Firefighters Responded to middlefield road in the north fair oaks area of unincorporated Redwood City, to reports of a large fire to the rear of the fair oaks medical facility within scaffolding. Upon arrival, a second alarm was requested, quickly followed by a third. Due to spread to neighboring houses, alarms continued to be requested until it was an 8th alarm balance. Multiple type 1 out of county strike teams were requested. Firefighters battled the fire in the main structure as well as several houses for hours before finally getting it under control. A countywide law enforcement tac alert was requested code 3 to assist with evacuations and scene control, which is why so many law enforcement agencies responded. Per a press release, ATF agents also responded to assist with the investigation due to the scale of the fire.

Tac alert or not, that's an insane amount of PD.
Definitely a big response but necessary
@@AnthonyG13EmergencyVideos”neceserry” the fire trucks didint appear until 2:07, that is a very long wait time, they should have been on scene already
@@emergencyresponsevideosand4423 I didnt get there for the first part. There was already 3 alarms at scene. I arrived, caught the law enforcement evacuation tac alert, and then the rest of the alarms
Wow. As a past firefighter I can honestly say I've never seen an 8 alarm in my life. Amazing how they all came together this one day and did an awesome job containing and keeping everyone safe. Ty guys for all that you do.
agreed. I think its the most alarms they struck in this counties history. It was extremely well coordinated and they did a great job protecting the surrounding neighborhood from the several spot fires that came up. Definitely one for the books.
Cop blocking the way for an Engine at 7:33 XD
I was on the county scanner radio channel and I heard county dispatchers transmitting a “all hands on deck fire” for a similar situation. It was orginally dispatched as a church on fire but quickly became worse following an explosion. Turned out the cause was from a welding job gone horribly wrong. Thankfully no injuries were found.
At least church gone
@@OffendingTheOffendable It was not a church. It was a affordable housing project.
1:28 No way that could be a undercover police Prius
Right 😂
Yup
Likely a detective unit, not a u/c.
Cannot say for sure, but probably a US Marshall, they utilize a lot of foreign vehicles as undercover units.
@@seattlesam12 all of the unmarked vehicles were sheriff detectives.

@@jays106 Vintage photos of the 1985 PEPCON explosion showed yellow trucks.
In Germany, first responders' vehicles have uniform colours: silver/ blue for the Police, bright orange for Fire Brigades, olive/ brown/ black camouflage for Bundeswehr vehicles.
I reckon the PEPCON explosion still is the biggest one in US history, together with the Texas Refinery Fire and the West Fertilizer catastrophe. The latter caused severe casualties among the firefighters, as they had already got close to the blaze when the explosion happened.

Amazing catches! 8 alarms is crazy!
Great catch. San Jose & Milpitas are quite a ways away.
agreed! They were part of the 2 type 1 strike teams requested after the 8th alarm. I believe Fremont had some apparatus out there as well as south san Fransisco that I didn't catch.
Crazy
San Jose Engine 1 is stationed downtown. Fremont Bat. 6 was mentioned in the audio. SCCFD: Engine 77 is from Cupertino, Engine 73 is from Saratoga, Engine 82 is from Los Gatos.
Reminds me of the Santana Row fire in San Jose in 2003. The main fire there went to 8 alarms, with embers causing a nearby apartment complex to ignite, causing a 5 alarm fire there. I know there was at least 1 strike team from San Mateo County came in on that mess.
There definitely was some similarities. Good ears and eyes noticing all the strike teams.
It seems Mountain View engine 52 and Milpitas Engine 68 showed up for support.
@@Lolitzi13 correct, they were part of the 2 type 1 strike teams requested from Santa clara counry
Amazing catches of all the different units that were arriving and on scene!!
Wow, that's a large response. Spectacular catches! I hope everyone was safe

@@AnthonyG13EmergencyVideos I am really surprised the California Highway Patrol didn't step in.

The more Chrome you see on a firetruck, the higher its vintage. Seems to be a rule of thumb. Best example is that Seagrave truck at the very beginning of the video! As to the fire, it's really massive, a whole block fully involved. If I were one of the firemen having to combat this, it would make me feel very humble! All the best from Germany!
Lots of seageaves! Didn’t realize California had nice trucks
For now at least. Most of san mateos are getting replaced with pierces

definitely biggest response I have ever seen

That’s a lot of police for a structure fire
Awesome lots of police responded US Marshals undercover units did SWAT responded too
No, US marshals didn’t respond. Neither did swat as this was a fire.
I don't see why US Marshals or the SWAT team would respond unless there was an armed individual or some sort of terrorist attack going on in this case it was just a fire
@@Maizefireyou would be surprised. Fact is there probably was swat there, not in full tac gear, but it was a county wide tac. That means a lot of units go that are not otherwise tied up. People are called in on units that are subject to call in, like swat. That may have a full time swat that works shift work, but they also have spare teams that are swat but not the full time team, they would get called in too.
As for the Marshals, any county that is large has joint units with the Feds. They have deputies that are assigned to the task force with Feds and unless they have something major going on, whatever team was on, probably went. It could have been a team consisting of officers from every city in the county, CHP, USMS, FBI, county SO, DHSI.
They will still go if needed.
Manpower is manpower. There doesn’t have a be a terrorist attack or someone armed for swat or marshals to be at a location.
@@PTRRanger951 in this county we dont have any full time SWAT operators, we do have lots of patrol officers who are on the SWAT team though. The only reason I could see any federal agencies is if our gang task force like you said was on, which has some federal agents on it.

The traffic on the street is aggravating. Shut that block down completely intersection to intersection

Never mind. I found out when I finally saw a firetruck from San Jose. I hope that everyone got out of the building and that no one was hurt. God bless the first responders 🙏.
Incredible catches!!! What a response! Those flames were huge!! What were all the unmarked police units? Amazing video as always!!

Why isn't the guy directing traffic not wearing a traffic vest? Is it not required?
There was a lot of people directing traffic. It was chaos. A lot of Detectives and higher ups were helping out with traffic control and i guess not everyone had/put on a vest. I agree that they should be wearing one though.
Was The Building Under Construction?
Yes
Who / which agency operates the light blue truck, shown at 1:47? What is its purpose?
Gas and electric. Deals with that kind of stuff.
Tankers as well. That's a lot of water.
yes, a water tender group of 4 water tenders was requested tp supplement the assignment.
The dodge charger hellcat purple☠️💀
8 alarm wow. Remember Santan Row which was only 5alarm and multiple fires burned homes a mile away. Think That fire wall larger. Crazy how many cops
8 alarm? What's that like 400 firefighters over 100 pieces of apparatus?
Probably. They had at least 70 apparatus just from this county as well as several out of county strike teams
Super catches!
Please tell me why those streets were not closed down. Back in 2011 there was a fire in downtown Portland Oregon on the 6th floor of an 8 story building, they closed 8 blocks in all directions. They were not even people walk on those blocks.
No idea. Once they struck the 4th alarm traffic was shut down in both directions. I moved a few blocks down later to film the responses
Some construction workers are losing their jobs
Heard about that. Great catch!
Hazmat unit that responded to this scene at all?
surprisingly not.
Awesome catch
Thank God there were no other fires anywhere else. Everyone is at this fire. I do mean everyone!!
As said in the description, the fire did spread to several other homes and a tree.
8 alarm??? Iv'e only heard upto a 5th alarm... How high and severity does it go?
Not sure. I think 8 alarms is a record for this county
Really cool catch! 🎉

I live near Middlefield road
Who was that all blue-lit black SUV near the end?
sheriff detective
nice video but why was ATf on scene
I actually have no idea. I noticed that in the press release ATF was one of the agencies listed. It would explain a few of the weird unmarked units that weren't sheriff detectives but I am still not certain why they responded.

That guy directing traffic, should have high vis vest on at least and I would say some gloves and a cap. First responder safety first!
Nice footage!
thanks!
Maybe you could get a police officer on a power wheels car to respond to this fire as well, they responded in practically every other type of vehicle So far I've only seen one fire vehicle heading towards the fire and that was a Ford F-150 pickup truck with a camper shell. That's the one thing I always hated when I arrived at a fire scene I could never get the engine in the first time because of all the police officers parked everywhere. It finally got to the point we complain so much that the city finally told the police officers unless requested by fire or EMS only two officers could show up at a structure fire, because the last time I checked structure fires didn't care if they got arrested or not
the police were called in for evacuations. as per description
It is California so that's a possibility
INSANE!
I know dude!
Epic video!
thank you!
Lots of cops for a fire. Must have had a lot of hydrants to block and apparatus to get in the way of! 🤣
Read the description
What camera do you use?
I use a canon vixia G50
1:43 utility truck code 3 😮
just being escorted
In Japan, gas companies indeed roll code 3. With the density in the big cities, a gas leak could wipe out a city block really fast.
That many cops for a fire? What was on fire lol?
as per description, a tac alert was requested for law enforcement countywide, mainly for evacuations.
bro got GOOD ASS catches
thanks dude
that 2 Steady burn light setup on the Unmarked cars is pretty stupid...
also 15 Firetrucks 300 Cop cars xD
Wtf is prius doing here???????? 1:28 😂😂😂😂
I know right! There was actually a second one i missed. Sheriff detectives
@@AnthonyG13EmergencyVideos yeah i saw the 2nd Prius with out police lights, it was following the unmarked police car with speed on that time i understand.
In Azerbaijan all Prius have a nickname: Godfather of Azerbaijan roads 😂😂 bcz of the speed and bad driving they always crash to everything 😂😂
Four wheelers blocking fire rigs🤨
Why so many cops?
As per description, a tac alert was requested for extensive evacuations
Please explain to this stupidity of the steady burn emergency lights. I know it’s Cali and they do some weird stuff but this is realistically just stupid and unsafe. I know the walkers in Cali will disagree but as a nationally certified evoc instructor it actually is very!
WICKED!!! Bomb squad was there correct?
Crazy
No need for all them cops lmaooo
There was extensive evacuations. They were needed to evacuate nearly an entire neighborhood and help people and their pets evacuate.
Why were there so many cops?! It was an empty building under construction that was on fire, all the construction workers got out. There's not that many streets there to close
Well looking at the video there was a lot of traffic and a lot of pedestrians around so that's why they need it all the help from other police agencies
Plus also there was a lot of houses that were nearby and they needed to evacuate the people
exactly. saw stated in the description, a tac alert was requested because the fire was spreading to other houses and extensive evacuations were needed.
All the cops rushed in and I guarantee they took all the prime parking. The fire trucks will have to park farther away.
Actually no, fire all came into the main lot. PD rushed into the neighborhood and helped several people out of their houses, conducted evacuations and rescued pets. They each had their own assignments.
YESSSSS
Seems a bit excessive to me. Especially all the police cars. There gets a point when the scene is just too crowded and causes chaos. Sometimes less is better. I bet 3/4 of those fire trucks were just sitting on standby with no assignment at all. I mean the fire looks big in the video, but not that big. This would be a second or third alarm in my city with 10-20 fire trucks and a handful of police cars which would be enough.
m.ruclips.net/video/gfcxzBMBkUo/видео.html
This video also shows a comparable fire in my area. The difference is that it was only a second alarm with three ladder trucks, two rescues, and about 6 pumpers. 11 trucks is all that’s necessary. No chaos on the scene. And not taking away all the first responders from other calls in the city.
The police response, as per description was part of a tac alert for extensive evacuations, animal rescues, and traffic control
Im sorry to say but that fire you just showed is no where in comparison to the fire in this video. There is a difference between a single story commercial building with no structures around it to a 6 story residential building still in construction fully involved with several residential buildings and patches of grass around it catching on fire due to high winds and horrible conditions.
@@Lolitzi13 if you read through description, you would know that this fire extended to other rooftops and vegetation
