- Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company is a 100% volunteer organization that has been serving North-Central Baltimore County since 1909. As volunteers, They are committed to the same vigorous training requirements and operate under the same expectations as our counterparts in the career service. Comprised of over 100 active members, their ranks are gleaned from across the occupational spectrum of the community; carpenters, doctors, plumbers, students, businessmen, and even career firefighters unite in service by protecting the people and property of their community. They are one of 35 volunteer fire companies working alongside 24 career stations to provide an integrated emergency response network for Baltimore County. Responding to emergencies in residences, businesses, and industrial sites, LVFC protects and serves 30,000 people over 45 square miles. Because they are one of few stations to be equipped for “Heavy Rescue” and our strategic location near the junction I-695 and I-83, They are often called to severe accidents throughout the area using our specialty truck, Squad 303, which You will see in a Station Rigs episode. This vehicle is equipped with heavy-duty cutting and spreading tools as well as a HYDRAULIC CRAIN at allows us to respond to severe accidents with people trapped involving a variety of vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, and tractor-trailers. LVFC strives to support and establish a positive presence in the community by participating in local events such as the Towson 4th of July parade, the Towson town Festival, and community block parties. The LVFC also continues educating their community about fire safety, holding fire safety education classes for the local schools, and opening the doors for special events like Blood Drives to give back to the communities.

Lutherville has basically had a Squad equipped with a crane since I was born. That's over 5 decades. Howard County Rescue Squad 5 had a Kenworth that was equipped with a crane as well. Maryland was always home to some monster squads. Gotta love the the Roto Ray's and twin Mars 888's on the suppression pieces.👍🇺🇸
Saturday we get to show off the crane too. STATION RIGS - make sure to check it out. Thanks for watching
I'm career at Clarksville. (Station 5).. It's still there
@@firefighterphi149 How many more years before they replace that rig?
@@happycommentator6773 That's a great question for the volunteers. We don't run it.
Yeah I got a photograph of the fire house hope he comes into Essex area etc be nice to learn more about the stations near me I’m next to 2 volunteer depts ones my buddies and the other is one I’m apart of
Not only an impressive station, the Doctor is very knowledgeable. The Dr. really knows the fire service, equipment, etc…
Did anyone catch the car driving in reverse in the background when they are going over the 1953 Mack?
@@turtle-ml5hl yeah we know…
And a mini van
@@ericdaniel7069 Something tells me that you would not qualify to join their team and if you managed to squeeze in you would not last. Grow up!
@@allen480 lol
I saw like three vehicles traveling in reverse
The 7-11 up the street from there is pretty great too
1000 gallons (3800 liters) would be a dream. Our smallest firetruck has 200 gallons (750 liters) and our biggest firetruck has 500 gallons (2000 liters).😅
There are also bigger ones, but not in our department.
Greetings from Germany
EVERY fire station in the U.S. should be like this !!!
This is one of my local stations where I live. From the outside this place is very inconspicuous, I never knew it was so large!
Thanks for watching
Nothing like seeing a doc on the front lines; major respect to Dr. Vitberg
Great To See You Guys Feature A Local Company, Great Work! If you’re ever in the area again another unique company would definitely be Chestnut Ridge Vol Fire Company which houses a Engine,Engine Tanker, Tanker Support Unit,Medic Unit, ATV And More. What Makes This Station Unique Is They Are The Only Volunteer Company That Typically Specializes In Mass Casualty Incidents. S.O.R.T. 50 (Special Operations Response Team) In Baltimore County. They Also Are One Of A Few Stations In The Area Who Utilize Drones For Search & Rescue Operations As Well As EMS Bikes 🚴 For Various Large Scale Events.
Send us the official invited to get that done. We don't do cold calls any longer. watchheroesnextdoor@gmail.com Maryland is easy for us to do too so we definitely could make that happen.
@@HeroesNextDoor I’ll see if I can get someone associated with the company to send out a invite via email!
@@codybussey1124 awesome thanks
This station is great, I live down the road from it and i've always wondered what some more of looks like. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching and stop by the station they would love to show you in person
A very nice video and an amazing station. Thank you for the awesome tour David Vitberg. In Addition, The Fire Museum of Maryland isn't that far away on York Road.
IN FLORIDA WE CALL THAT A "SUPER STATION"
This is a very well equipped and funded Department
It's amazing people still are able to volunteer so much of their free time to what is essentially a part time job.
That station is WICKED! :O Absolutely loved this episode!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fellow Mass. guy, love to see it! Also .. that B85 Thermodyne is absolutely gorgeous. B series Mack’s are one of the most beautiful trucks ever made (Superliners are a close second.)
Truly amazing as an all volunteer house. Very nice.
the county has 30 stations ( was 33 ) that are completely volunteer. The county also has about 20 stations that are paid ( career ) . interestingly enough, a fair amount of career members ( as is seen in this video ) are also volunteers in the county.
The Mack is the best. Yes I drove similar trucks from a Frederick Country company.
Nice keep up the great work!
Would love to see more Maryland departments featured here! (Station cribs etc)
May I also suggest Independent hose Co #1 in Frederick county. They are the Oldest fire company in Maryland
This volunteer firehouse is amazing especially that it has a fire pole I say that’s the crown jewel of a firehouse
Agreed but all volley stations should also have a high HP Federal Siren. (Mechanical, not electronic because of EMP). lol
I've always been impressed with the equipment and stations in the Northeast.
Sight-seeing pole slide,.........AWESOME!!!!
That outdoor patio is nuts! You could host some pretty nice parties there
For sure ! I’d be out there most of the time.
Hey mike you know what you should do is add the different fire tones at each station you go to when when they get called out tons call would be interesting seeing the difference across the country
Thats a great idea. We will try to remember when we film.
I’d sleep well at night living in this company’s first due area. If I took a job in the area I’d definitely want to live & possibly vol in Lutherville
WOW! LVFC, nice job!!
this is one of the VFCs near me, great work Mike, keep it up
Cool, thanks!
Brilliant, liked and shared 🧑🏻👍🏻
You should do a station rig on their resque I would love to see that working
I would pay $10 each for a patch to send to Australia, Plus a few $$$ for the service
I think it would be cool if you came down to southern Illinois Williomson county, saline, etc and see the full time and volunteer departments
We need the invite sent to watchheroesnextdoor@gmail.com
I would like to see a video on Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad in pg county
We just need the invites from the company if you can help with that

I gotta ask my instructor since I'm a junior firefighter there
I gotta ask my instructor to ask the chief if that can happen
He might say yes but their the busiest in the county
WOW!! That station is perfect. I loved the out door firepit/eating area.
As always thanks for watching. This was impressive but to drive by you would not know all what was inside.
@@HeroesNextDoor That could be a good thing for station security.
great station. Also i had to mention 41:20 threw me off bc the cars are driving backwards lmao
yeah it threw me off to
This is a beautiful and very thoughtfully planned out fire station. Possibly the nicest station I have seen on your channel! This community is very lucky to have such a great fire station.
I was wondering if you have ever thought of coming out west to some place such as Seattle? Seattle fire stations 10, 14, and 5 for examples would be great to tour. Seattle also just became a class 1 fire department last summer. Just a thought or suggestion.
We would love to come. We just need the invites from those stations
@Heroes Next Door I will do you one and make an inquiry to see if someone I know could possibly make that happen and ask them to reach out to you. Do you have an email they could use to contact you?

MArvelous video. Would like to see videos of visits of Encinitas firehouses.
Maybe one day!
That's an impressive firehouse. I'm interested to know more about the USA fire departments and how they run. Amazing dedication by volunteer crews, but i just don't understand how a house that busy with amazing facilities and obviously funding, doesn't pay its members but the county department does. Also how do they always manage to have a crew on station if its voluntary?
Thanks again. A great video.
Omg my uncle is a volunteer there and I go there all the time I’m going today
Very impressive! No reason to leave, might have to evict me out of an “apartment”. Not sure if seen a pole in a newer facility.
Poles seem to be dependent on where you are located in the country. Denver swears by them but others say they are to much of a hazard. Indiana also uses poles. Have you checked out those videos yet. Let us know what you think.
Oooo gotta come to Howard county next
Send us an invite
You should th hampstead vfc in carroll county md they just got a brand new station
That station looks so big, would be cool to work there
Are you even near them? They are always looking for volunteers. No experience needed.

outstanding video!!!!
Glad you liked it!
The volunteer house is near perfection. The thing missing is a swimming pool and/or swimspa. The amenities is more than most apartments. If I were younger, I might think about moving to this area to join the department.
You guys should do english consul vfd in southwest Baltimore county
If you ever get a chance or have a chance, check out Prince Frederick Vol Fire Dept. I find it to be a very nice department being a neighboring department

As a former German firefighter, I would be interested to know how the decision is made on what vehicles a fire station gets? Is there a risk assessment for this like in Germany? Or is it divided randomly in the district and then pulled together if necessary?
Every place has their own reasons. Every state is different
The district I work in, apparatus placement is done by need. Squad company is near the interstate, and a second squad is at headquarters, Tower Ladder is centrally located at headquarters and we have three other engine companies spread out.
Karsten, I live and volunteer 25 minutes west of here. In America it is not as regulated for the fire service like Germany is. The individual volunteer fire company's can decide what best suits their needs. There are jurisdictional and national standards a type of fire truck must meet. The trucks are built with the area and operational needs that have been identified. This fire company has 3 ladder trucks that border them 2 are paid 1 is volunteer. It also depends on funding.
Nice
Amazing video I’m only 3 hours away from them I’ll definitely have to come by and check it out myself also I need a station(uniform)belt any good recommendations
Thanks for watching
“Propper” makes good belts. High quality, simple, and a value product
