  • Want to learn how to paint like Claude Monet? Hope this video will help you. I tried to paint his famous painting "The Argenteuil bridge"
    Claude Monet (14 November 1840 - 5 December 1926) was a French painter, a founder of French Impressionist painting and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein air landscape painting.

    I can pull off most of Monet’s style except the water... water is so difficult for me to do with his style. I can do water in my own way but it looks more realistic than impressionist. Love these videos!

    Dude, subscribed! This is great. You should do loads of different Monet paintings like this. Walking us through how you go about it would be so cool too. Like if you even had speech bubbles pop up every 5 or 10 mins saying why you used a certain technique. Thanks!

    Em mi je Monet omiljeni slikar, em si kao muzicku pozadinu stavio klasicnu muziku sto te bas izdvaja iz mase. A o tvom slikanju necu puno toga reci, vrhunski i perfektno, mislim da je dovoljno

    Samir, beautiful work. Can I ask how long this took you? Was it in a single sitting or did you edit the footage together? I am trying to improve my impressionist technique and am hoping to understand if you wait for those thinner layers to dry before you come in with the more impasto layers on top, giving that lovely classic impressionist look of dots and strokes of color.
    Please keep up the fantastic work! Lovely to watch it come together :) Cheers!

    • @PaintingWithSamir
      @PaintingWithSamir  3 года назад +1

      I think this was done in one sitting, but I think it is much better and easier if you leave that under thin layer to dry. I mostly paint wet on wet,I just got used to it. I paint over dry layers mostly when painting larger paintings.

    Excellent video demonstration. You seem to work from light to dark when most others block in darks first. Do you have a reason for doing this? I like it and plan to incorporate this technique approach in my painting. Thanks.

    • @PaintingWithSamir
      @PaintingWithSamir  3 года назад +1

      yes you noticed well. sometimes I like to jump from one thing to another even though they are completely different colors and values. that way I better compare the different things in the picture and know if I am on the right track to properly paint their relationships in tones, values, etc. sometimes it is good to experiment and look for the technique that suits you.

    • @PaintingWithSamir
      @PaintingWithSamir  4 года назад

      thank you for comment. I almost always use flat and angled brushes, small to medium in size. they are synthetic very cheap (1-2$) brushes.

    Hello I really like this. However, at the start, what colours had you already applied to the canvas?

    • @PaintingWithSamir
      @PaintingWithSamir  3 года назад

      I usually mix all the leftovers on my palette (adding some warmer color if needed) with some turp or linseed oil and prepare a few canvases painting them with that mixture.
      in that way you don't waste paint and you have prepared canvas with no visible white canvas

      yes I use linseed oil. I just dip the brush from time to time when I feel paint is too tick.

    at 24.41 - do you wait before green is dry? when i do something like that, it becomes muddy. how are you able to prevent it?

    • @PaintingWithSamir
      @PaintingWithSamir  Год назад +1

      Yes this time the first layer was dry, so no problem with muddy paint. But you can also paint wet in wet and avoid getting muddy colors by applying fat over lean or thick over thin technique.

    You are not painting like Monte, you recreate one of his pieces. He didn't use the set of paint you are using. Some, yes, but some ...never. Still, it is catchy - people don't know :(
