Well crap i just done a steering pump and hoses and had a leak which i thought was the rack but i never changed those seals lol. I didnt see any even though i felt like there should be some in there. This is the first video that showed someone changing seals where it hooks into the rack. Nice video thanks!!!

    Are both o-rings the same?

Trying to remember if they were the same size or not. You may want to compare the two when replacing them so you can match them up.

i have to wonder if anyone else is having issues with these racks----at work i am getting remanufactured GM racks---i put the steering wheel straight and lock it-----if the steering wheel is striahgt the shaft from the wheel to the steering rack should line up--well--they dont and i have to move the steering rack shaft about 90 degrees to get it to line up with the wheel shaft--now that i do this i have codes for steering angle sensor----every single steering rack i have done when you pull the rack out and you get the new one the new one is lined up and the shaft is the same orientation as the one you pulled out----for example on this the bolt that goes through the shaft there is a gouge where the bolt goes through and this is in the 9 o clock spot---the "new" racks i get it is in the 6 o clock spot-----------if i move the steering rack shaft to get the other shaft to line up it dont work right and get steering angle codes---------2 remaned racks and both remans where different positions--is anyone else having this issue?

We didn't get any codes using the method shown in the video.

I replaced my power steering hoses and had a bear of a time removing the old "o rings" or whatever you call them (they are certainly an odd shape) out of the rack. I finally used a bolt and threaded into them just to get a bite and then pulled them out. I then had the same issue you did when installing the two hoses. They did not want to tighten down. So I pulled the hoses out and put the "o rings" on like you did. However when I went to tighten that bolt down in between the lines its either stripping out (maybe it didn't tighten evenly) or I just don't have it torqued enough. Anyway I now have a horrible leak and will have to crawl back under there to try and fix it. I sure hope its not stripped or I have a major job ahead of me.
