I'm new to this guy but can see why he's loved so much. He's a great musician but so open and down to earth. He's real.
I just got into Bruce and I can’t believe I didn’t take the time to listen to him sooner he’s such a cool guy and amazing musician
Welcome to the worthy admiration. Class act. He manifests the joy his mother infected him with-to our benefit.
Bruce is a class act. It’s not often that the person behind the songs, is equally as worthy of admiration as the public persona, but I think Bruce manages that with ease.
Bruce is looking good, sounding good. Comes across as sincere and thoughtful.
Damn he's well spoken.
Love his music. He writes such a broad range of songs that very few others can match. His music makes me feel complete when I'm lost. Legend.
Hey🌹all love and how are you doing today?
Kudos to Springsteen for talking so honestly about his depression.
His spirit is huge and his gentle awareness is also focused and powerful. It's these qualities that make him such a timeless songwriter.
He has made me a better person, and for that I am grateful.
Cheers from Canada Thomas .... I think the BOSS is the kind of man you would follow into Battle .....literally
He is awesome 😎
how? I'd like to know how? are you a friend? family member? did he give you help in some charity case? (highly doubt any of these)
how has he helped you. by music? then that's just sad man. someone like this who says the greatest president we ever had undermined the election? please.

Youre getting your panties in a twist over something he said about the orange shitstain, Trump ? Really ?
You need to get a life dude.
I had the pleasure of meeting Bruce roughly about a month before this interview took place. Very kind & so mild-mannered off the stage.
Mister Sarajevo omg that’s amazing 😵
He has, for the most part, never gone into detail about his mental state with each period of creativity (other than "Nebraska" which is EXTREMELY obvious) but the more and more he lets out about it, it becomes pretty clear what were his good and bad periods. As an absolute, faithful die hard fan it makes everything he's done even more interesting.

A beautiful human, not that I expected less xx.
Lovely interview. What a wonderful poem to end on...
Amazing how many non-fans take time to comment on an artist who's work they have no interest in.
Strange...
Yeah, apparently it's mostly people with far right political leanings that seem to do this. Who gives a shit if he doesn't adhere to the same political ideologies as these dunderheads?
Everything's about Trump to these fuckfaces.
Used to be that the Bruce non-fans would just diss on him at an intellectual level, and claim that his music was shit, when he's clearly a genius. Now the non-fans are just Trumpsters.
Graeme Walker As I got older I took a second look at his lyrics, saw him in a few interviews, and recently read his autobiography. He's a genuinely smart guy and very well spoken.
Funny too that he's very rich and self made. Started with not much more than a pawn shop guitar. Some estimates have him at $345m and having made over $60m in 2016 alone. I thought being a good businessman is the key to understanding politics?
And rather than everything being handled by his "people", he plays a major part in all the business decisions. That's why they call him the Boss in the first place.
Reaves MO I got into Springsteen in my early early 20s. And honestly, it completely changed my opinion of him. I used to be one of those assholes who shat on him.
By the way, they call him The Boss, because when the E Street band was starting out, after every gig, the guys would come to him, the boss, and ask for their money, and the name stuck. He is The Boss. :)
I have been a fan since I was in the 5th grade, and I’ll turn 50 this year. He continues to impress me. At first, I appreciated his music- such energy! Now, I appreciate his lyrics, his kindness, and his intelligence. Bruce Springsteen is a good man.
Currently listening to the audiobook of his autobiography, read by him. He's such a good writer, such a vital artist to American culture. Poet-laureate of the down at out, the working class, the every man. Thanks, Bruce!
guy from down the shore. I grew up in the 70s in Essex County and had friends in Seaside who owned bars who turned me on to Bruce then.....at the time 1973 and so forth, there was something about this guy that you could tell would evolve into something just all about good and great
Laverne Johnson You suck more. What have you achieved with your life? 🤔
Shaun McGee exactly!! Just another jealous loser!! I’m sure Bruce doesn’t care that you think he sucks!!
Was a huge springsteen fan the early years until the Rising and after watching Blinded by the light I rediscovered the power of his music that has transformed so many peoples lives who lived through his music .
Never even knew he suffered from depression but after listening to Wrecking ball where the song this depression is about depression .
It's something I have struggled with and music has always been the drug to treat it .
Now that album has really spoke to me .
It explains why in his early career he never did many interviews .
He looks so comfortable here that you just cant see him suffer depression that bad .
Anytime influential people speak about there mental health issues, the more the average joe can see a light at the end of the tunnel .
Only the boss can look cool while talking about a personal subject like that .
The power of music is truly like medicine for what ails you .
He writes a life story that comes to life...
A lovely honest interview.
Is it me or is Springsteen still underrated?
He has written some of the greatest songs of the last 50 years which certainly would make the new American songbook.
Still under-rated.
And he is basically a folk singer. A bloody loud one.
@@DavidAndrewsPEC Springsteen is his own American Songbook...PERIOD.
I wonder what it must be like to walk out on stage and be loved by millions, to be cherished, to be sanctified. Then to go home to silence and to face yourself as only you really know you. That has to be a difficult task, despite the trappings of success he enjoys. In the end, it's really just you, all alone. He's smart to seek help.
Very thoughtful and articulate individual. Look forward to reading his book.
Saw Bruce for the first time in 1975 at UC Santa Barbara, with my friend Curtis who was from Freehold, NJ, just before Born to Run was released. $3.00 ticket, 5 hour show, ears ringing for two days afterwards. He played all of Born to Run, the previous two albums, and then played Beatles, Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly when ran out of his own songs. Seen probably 1000 concerts, including a bunch more with Bruce, but that '75 concert was a stunner. It was so obvious that he revealed so much of himself through his music in a passionate and honest voice.
wow, unique experience to have a moment's glimpse in the soul of such a legend. And what you see is beautiful, genuine and inspiring
What an nice intelligent human being,

@marina Hey🌹, all love and how are you doing today?
Utmost respect, what a legend.
My lifetime musical hero.
Love you Bruce, you're the best. Xxx
Like his music, honest.
The worst thing is when you are not comfortable being on your own, but the best inspiration comes from that place, Bruce is a pure evidence of that, poetry and music really help to get out of there.
What he says about people not realising depression in the 50's is so true. My partners mother committed suicide by putting her head in a gas oven. He was only 6 months old. We recently got her death certificate and it said that she had a "disturbed mind." I think reading that line hurt the most. People just didn't understand depression, disturbed mind sounds as though she was mental or in some bizarre state. My personal opinion was that it was post natal depression and living with a violent husband, and it got too much for her.
Oh yes, very much likely postnatal depression!
I admire him greatly
Never been a massive Springsteen fan musically (tho Human Touch is a magical record), but I've always had respect for the guy. He comes across as a person interested in realness and in thinking deeply about the world. Love also that his ipod features both Magnetic Fields and Kanye West!
awesome guy.....great interview
A truly beautiful guy!
The Boss ❤❤
Another great interview, thoughtful questions and equally thoughtful answers, An openly honest man and a brilliant songwriter. ✨Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏼
I love Bruce he is a real honest man
Bruce Springsteen, I love you man. You have been my favourite singer since i was 11 thats for 31 years now going. I have seen you live in so many occasions, followed you everywhere Sweden, Norway, UK, USA and Italy. I believe now it is time to give it a rest, celebrate your success and go play gulf man you have made all the differences we know it all your story. time to rest man. peace out :)
Why? Because he’s older? Please. He seems vital to me. Thisb”everybody needs to retire” BS is exactly that.
If you read or listen to his autobiography "born to run". The honesty comes through.

Glad he speaks so honestly about this stuff. As an artist there are a lot of ups and downs. More downs when you start off. It’s good to hear that legends like Bruce have gone through it and handled it the way he has.
I am very impressed as to the answers he gives to his fans on his q&a interview.
A giant like him opening up about his depression can only help. There is something great about a someone like him humbling himself to share some part of him that involves struggle and illness. Its almost a Christ-like attribute.

I know he was suffering stress after the release of born to run due to management, deals, royalties etc and he released Darkness On The Edge Of Town which is a dark masterpiece. It remains my favourite album of all times
20:50 to 21:03 - what a great loving tribute to his father
I don't think he has a phoney bone in his body - It's his honesty in admitting he's phoney that makes him the realest thing in music. Does that make sense) ?
Agree 100-percent. 5:01 When Bruce admits that he is a phony, he proves that he is genuine. Most cannot understand this, but I can. It's similar to a person admitting that he or she is a liar. No one will admit this. However, if you ever meet someone and this someone says straight-up, "I'm a liar;" well then, you know that he or she is NOT a liar. This takes a while to understand, but it is true. Thus, if you ever meet someone and this someone says vehemently, "I am NOT a liar;" well then, you know that he or she IS a liar. You see?
Lo amo ❤

Hello, for someone who's suffered from long-term depression he's lived a very active and productive life.
+ Sajjid Mehal It's rare that something pops up in my suggested to view box where I, 1. peruse the comments section and 2. Where the comments section doesn't run into the 100's. Depression is agonising and life long for me. The only pick me up is work and security, love for my family, friends and community and (this is the best medicine) beer, in moderation, and The Boss and his music. Cry and laugh in equal measure, brother!
Exactly he doesn’t suffer from clinical depression it’s nonsense
Yes, I used to get very bad, what I now know was seasonal depression, when I lived in Pittsburgh, and now that you mention it, YES, Bruce's music is what I would listen to to pull myself out of the depression.
He actually does. He has talked about it before. During when HE was growing up though, people didn't know how to deal with it, and especially with men. He dealt with it through his music. Playing music would lift him up, but he says it is when he was off the road, and had to be his own company that he had the hardest time with it. I am of similar ethnic and religious background as Bruce (I have gotten the Irish Catholic side of me as well. I also have some Italian in me, and I grew up in a neighborhood just like the one Bruce grew up in. The words to his song My Hometown, could apply just as much to my hometown, as it does to Bruce's. The issues that Bruce talks about in his music about his relationship with HIS dad, could apply just as much to my Brother, as it did to Bruce, the rest us siblings in my family are all female, so in a different way, they all applied to us as well, but my brother got the brunt of it, being my dad's only son. My brother TOO suffers from depression as well.
Sajjad Mehal I guess it depends on the depth of the depression. He had a loving wife and children and I would guess had the most fantastic private counselling and of course the medication. Here in the UK, you wait over 4 months to see a counsellor and by that time someone could be dead. I have suffered from depression on and off for more years than I care to remember, along with chronic anxiety. I have had days where I just did not want to get out of bed but I like my job and I think that has saved me, really.
Bruce é maravilhoso.
