Hi dorian - I've just bought the 2nd gen ring with chime. I've been eyeing up a video doorbell for a while and seeming that Argos had a special offer (50% off + only pay 9.99 if you get the chime) it seemed silly not to get one! I hope mine lasts slightly longer than the first gen!
Yeah, I think they sorted out the battery issues now in later generations, my sis has the later gen and her battery has been fine for two years now. 🤞
i’ve went through two of these already, first lasted 6 months replaced under warranty and second two months ! They’re utter Garbage
Then unfortunately you’ve had a bad experience somehow, but I’ve had no issues at all.
@@HooverLux i wouldn’t recommend ring at all, a relative has a 4 channel hikivision set up and its far superior, looking in to that
That’s good.
I ended up replacing mine with the ring 2 when it decided to quit drawing power from the hardwired doorbell wiring! At that time I didnt contact ring about it because I was younger and more afraid to talk with people at that time when I had to replace it, note the hardwire power was 18v 30VA I have now replaced it was the pro because I of the pre roll and motion warning! The ring pro reported 17v when first Instaled but it does say 16v that’s just from resistance from the bell cable!
Shame, but still, they weren’t very helpful and just offered a small discount on the wired, but hey ho, that’s companies these day.
@@HooverLux well I got a ring pro open box from
eBay and that was apparently defective but seller didn’t realize as when I contacted ring they say it was a software issue so they sent a replacement and I returned the defective unit
@@HooverLux also that og ring doorbell the reason they couldn’t do anything was they actually stopped making those units since the 2nd gen released
Isn’t it really annoying like couple of years later, the battery dies!
I know and then the whole thing is just trash. It’s awful.
You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ring-a-ring-a-ring) nice upgrade mr Lux I think it’s good to watch the postman come 🤣
I’m not falling for that joke of yours again, that’s the last time I play hold your hand out and close your eyes 🤣🤣🤣
If you had the pro it would have a black backplate with level that can cover up the older gen ring doorbell holes
Ah ok, thanks for the info 🥰
the ring wired is like the pro with preroll, just dosent have motion warning, and dosent ring internal bell at all
It does have motion warning, but not able to ring internal bell no unfortunately 😢
@@HooverLux no when I tried turning on motion warning it didn’t work for
Me
@@HooverLux Did you get a ring chime after you instaled the ring wired?
This is what I need , as when postie comes , it’s like he’s trying to break in 😂
Oooh yeah! That would be a good idea definitely 🤗
The 1st gen doorbell is no longer being made by ring! The newest is the 2nd gen doorbell
I’m not surprised to be honest as tech changes so much. The quality of the new ones is so much better.
Cool 😎. I need one here as well.
Oooh yeah definitely, that would be a good video
the battery ones are pretty crappy if u live anywhere cold. over here in canada in the winter time even when u wired them the battery would die after only a day or two. i complained to there c/s and one of there mangers hooked me up with the pro version at the time was the only version that didn't have a battery. not sure about that version but the pro version came with a back plate that has pegs that fit into the wholes of the older larger models and cover up the old holes.
It’s been fine for the past two years, but u guess the battery just degraded so that it won’t hold charge in cold weather. Will see how it goes for the next year as it’s a bit warmer now, but so far absolutely no issues with the wired.
@@HooverLux ya the wired ones are great when they have no battery haven't had no issue since switching. imo the battery ones should be redesigned so that if u hardwired it that it runs off that power from the wiring and the battery is just there as a back up if the power goes down. not the way it is now that it keeps using the battery either way because that is just stupid design unless u live some place that is warm all the time and even then if u live some place like say texas were it gets crazy hot heat can affect it to.
So far absolutely no issues with the new one 🤗
Late reply, the ring pro has a powercell(battery) that saves all the data in case of a blackout, its not a battery that can run very long
My 1st Gen Doorbell only lasted 7 months. I received it in October of 2021 as winter was approaching, tried to keep it recharged and above 50% battery, but it somehow deteriorated to the point where the battery wouldn't charge at all. That's one of the downfalls of lithium polymer batteries, they are very susceptible to temperature changes, unlike lithium ion hard-shelled batteries that are in their removable version 2, 3, and 4 series doorbells. The 1st gen doorbell won't even power on when directly plugged in via usb port. It's still under warranty, but I posted a 1 star review on this garbage version of RING doorbell and a week later I got an unsolicited call from RING customer support saying they saw my review on Amazon and would like to rectify my very detailed and unsatisfied review about the 1st Gen doorbell. I usually don't post reviews on products, but when I do, it's usually a bad review. I work in the IT field, a RING doorbell without a removable battery that lasted 7 months is unacceptable. Had I known the battery wasn't removable, I wouldn't have purchased it to begin with, but alas here I am with a paper weight. We'll see what the 1 year RING warranty covers. lol
I know exactly how you feel, gutting! It’s not as though we had a particularly cold winter this year. So far the new ring doorbell has been absolutely amazing and I’m glad I went for the non battery version. My parents one which only relies on battery power has been fantastic and has lasted 6 months between charges! Hope it’s lasts another year.
Very nice. Sorry your old one failed but sounds like a nice upgrade. We have a second gen.
I was more disappointed that you can’t but a new battery for them without a load of faff, I’m sure the newer generations can have the battery changed easy?
@@HooverLux Yes, I think so as we have a Gen2 and if I remember correctly it doesn't have to be hard wired and you can remove and recharge the battery. I had a hard wired doorbell so mine is wired in.
Am sorry too her at mate
That’s ok.
Can we talk on wahtpps see OK
Am gating a iPhone and wcih
Oooh excellent
