Love it. People that earn huge six-figure salaries, telling everyone to just 'ask for help'. If you ask for help, you'll be given a patronising leaflet, telling you to shop less. The pay must be addressed ASAP. The nurses are rejecting 7.5% pay rises. Most junior ranks would rip your hand off for that sort of pay recognition!
I’d imagine that won’t happen. I don’t know about the airforce/navy but in the army, the officers are there to help with all matters, including finance.
Because that’s not how it works. They can lobby government to a degree, but it’s not really up to them unless they’re given the budget increase to accommodate it.
@@camf7522 Soldiers have to pay for accom, unless they’re living in barracks. This has happened throughout history, yes it’s bad that the accom is substandard, however it’s a problem within the private companies tasked with fixing the accom. They will fix it.
@@fod1855 just because something has been done for a long time, doesn’t make it right. Where I live, if there are serious maintenance problems, on can apply to an authority to have the payment of rent suspended until the issues are rectified in full.
Fix the problems with pinnacle families are going without hot water and heating for weeks due to the absolute rubbish CONTRACTS YET AGAIN that its provided for SFA.
It's good they see the fact people need. It's hard to block it out while on active duty but now they just can't. Viewers need to realize how little is actually earned. It's not usually as good as a shop worker.
The armed forces don't get paid enough. Regardless of their job role and how their pay is different. They cover it up with the *no taxes* but now its really starting to show. It is an absolute disgrace that people that are risking their lives for our country are unable to pay off their basic costs. Shame on you British gov.
@@fod1855 I know they aren't financial counsellors, per se, but both I and my RSM would get visits from him saying "Trooper X has an issue". The other advantage is they know solutions outside the system.
@@whya2ndaccount The padre may well say that “trooper x has an issue”, and for a young soldiers that will definitely find him help or the padre may sit down with him himself. In the British army, officers are expected to help soldiers with all matters, including personal and financial. So a soldier is able to go to his platoon commander or ask to see the adjutant etc and they will sit down with him in their office and help him get everything in order.
@@fod1855 Oh yes here too Officers and SNCOs look after soldiers welfare. The Padre though is another channel (esp. if they are concerned re publicity). Its just that the video didn't mention them at all.

But In regard to the concern re publicity, here, it's really only the officers that deal with this sort of thing, the NCOs will be asked to keep an eye on them afterwards. and in general, depending on the regiment there is a social gap between the officers and soldiers which means that the information goes no where - more of a chat with the headmaster/principal sort of situation.

What about Padres / pastoral support? Here they are an integral mechanism to support soldiers and commanders.
Not necessarily for helping with financial matters, they’re more patoral support (literally) although I’m sure they’d do their best if someone asked!
