You made this look like a tv commercial or VHS tape from 1982. It couldn't be more perfect.
I can't start to imagine how many weeks you have spent on this, but the result is in a league of its own.
You even found the fonts, specific shades of each color and so many other details that tell me it's from 1982.
That's actually 14 years before the CS1x was released, but who cares? 1982 was so much better than 1996.

I had the CS1X when I was young - it was inexpensive but I still had to save pretty hard for it. I loved it because it was mine but I always figured that it was a poor man's synth. I'm surprised to see that it had some kind of following.

    • @KOSmusicovers

I'm glad that you had the CS1x too... many times mid-range products can surprise you with their capabilities and I must say that in these years that I have learned to use this synth thoroughly, it has amazed me with its versatility and its sound quality. The only thing they could do better is the acoustic piano sounds, but other than that I love it!!! :) :) :)

Unbelievable, the same thing happened to me a long time ago, that I discovered that there was a second bank of presets with beautiful sounds!! One of the things I would have liked on the CS1x would have been an extra bank to be able to store personal presets, instead of overwriting existing ones. GREAT!!! Me too, I compose original music with him :) Oh yes, the Drum machine sounds are really stunning too!! A huge thank you from me and my wife for your awesome comment :) :) :)

You have convinced me. I'm going to try to let the machine do a full production. As described in my post below. That is: divide the (virtual) keyboard into 4 sections, running on midi channel 1, containing, drum, bass, lead and a 4th sound. Mute all effects to get channel separation and two mono machines with assigned layers (panned). Mix & fx externally. Possible "general midi" addition on remaining 12 channels. The cs1X has a lot of banks with some useful stuff. Nineties challenge. Full production / live performance in one go, with merely this thing as tone generator and the knobs on the old budget devices. Ready to record on my Minidisc.

Wow, thanks for this cracking video. I own a few classics and the first one I bought was a Yamaha CS1x, I have bought and sold almost ALL my gear in the past 30 years! But NEVER this one! I will never part with it, old faithful! In my studio rig among synths like an M1, Triton extreme, DX7 blah, blah, the CS1x is "THE ONE" in front of my computer DAW and next to my mixer! All the others are to the side and on stands! I wonder why? Filers and arpeggios are just amazing, oh, and lets not forget the factory stock patches! In my opinion, this synth owns a world record! It is definitely a valid musicmate... then the design is too beautiful!! Still in these months, while I'm creating other videos like this, it always surprises me for the incredible sounds that he is able to reproduce (many of the first synths of the 70s). I still own the CS1x and CS2x. I bought them when they frist came out, years ago. I paid $600.00 for each of them, a year apart. I wish I would have picked up an AN1x too. I have them sitting on a two tear keyboard stand, but haven't had them energized in a long time. I'm sure they still work, but I bet the internal memory battery needs to be replaced and that's not an easy task. I used to watch a video called "Top Gun Jets" all the time when I was a kid and that music would always get my fired up for what I was about to watch. I was so happy when I was able to rediscover that tape when I finally found it about 15 years ago and I've rewatched it many times since (it's on YT, btw). Even going so far as to find the original tracks of some of the music used on the tape. Airwolf main lead Pads in general were very different to this and it was multi-layered. Sly and Udi's session fellas mostly used Oberheims, Prophets and DX7 II's, with Jupiter 8 now and again.

Great work from both of you. The Terminator theme still gives me chills whenever I hear it after all these years and Airwolf was my favourite of all the 'super vehicle' shows.
I've just been looking into Syntronik on iOS, as that covers a few Yamaha synths (CS-80, CS-01 II and GX-1), along with some Jupiter, Prophet and many other synths. I was going to wait until next month but you may have persuaded me to jump now (pun intended). :-)
