    Some of these mixtures are amazing. They sound just like a glass harmonica.

    Splendide, fin ,élégant, coloré. Debussy n'aurait pas osé sans doute, mais un tel instrument manié avec autant de talent permet tout ...

    Oh my, a very young Thomas Ospital, yet a true master of this instrument already! Very fine arrangement, registrations and performance! Thank you, from Canada!

    Brillante transcription d'une oeuvre qu'on n'imagine pas forcément exécutable à l'orgue. L'interprétation est à la hauteur de ce défi que Claude Debussy n'aurait certainement pas désavoué. Belle registration et bien sur, très bel instrument.

    Even ONE 'dislike' is ridiculous, but twenty-five? This playing is flawless and Thomas is a true musician.

      Those who can do (wonderful Pierre-François and Thomas), those who can't criticize (thumbs down).

    • @kempedkemp
      @kempedkemp Год назад +1

      I don't see that statistic but truly, anyone who would give this a dislike is either a stuck-up Debussy purist, or just plain doesn't like pipe organ music. I would defend this organ and organist to any "organ expert" who could possibly criticize this performance. This transcription and performance are as good as it gets in the world of organ music.

    I love this instrument! May it sing forever! How lucky that St. Eustache chose the greatest organist of the 21st century . . . so far!
    TO ALL OF YOU ORGAN AFICIONADOS . . . Thomas Ospital will be at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, U.S., next month, June 20 - 24, 2023 to judge the International Organ Competition where students will compete for the $40,000 Pierre S. du Pont First Prize, the largest cash prize of any organ competition in the world. He will participate in a lecture on organ transcriptions.

    I have not heard this piece for organ before, nor have I heard Thomas. I was completely carried away by both. I have to admit that the use of the modern combination action adds so much to the tonal variety when it becomes so quickly and subtly useful. So pleased to hear the organ used so well. Compliments. And gratitude to Pierre for making it available here.
    Let's hear more from Thomas Ospital, please.

    Tout simplement magnifique. Cette œuvre s'adapte très bien pour cet instrument, pour moi, l'un des meilleurs de la ville. Cet instrument est tout simplement exemplaire, rien à voir avec St Sulpice qui aurait demandé un travail fou aux "registreurs"... sans parler du cliquetis envahissant de la machine Barker absolument trop bruyante.. (Oups... Daniel ne va pas être content!!)

    Ecouter Debussy, c'est abolir le déferlement de bruits et d'images du quotidien pour entrouvrir l'espace d'un ailleurs où la contingence et la représentation cèdent la place à l'immatérialité du sensible. Une fois refermée la porte sur l'agitation du monde, un silence sous-jacent s'installe, une lenteur saisit, préludes à une dilatation de la perception et
    de la conscience. Le pouvoir expressif de l'architecture sonore rompt avec toute forme de transcription du réel pour s'attacher à l'expression d'un univers insaisissable. La couleur et le rythme des compositions constituent un langage
    qui donne voix à l'exaltation.
