    I totally picked up a few tips so very cool. I just got the pedal and I hear people say to "drag and drop", but as he just pointed out, you have to know if it's a preset or not because it makes a difference. Those small details count so thanks for sharing.

      You got it. The idea of Preset/Tone Model eluded me for some time!

    First off... love your channel/content. Great info and I just subscribed.
    About Tonex... love the pedal - can't stand the software. With every new version they add cool features but just make it more bloated and it is absolutely UNINSPIRING! Just to edit a tone model then to save as a preset then have to import it onto a slot on my pedal. They have such a cool thing with this pedal but the software just makes me want to buy the amp I'm modelling and just be done with it. Anyways...guess I just wanted to gripe for a minute. You are doing great work . Keep it up and have a great day!

      Thanks man. Much appreciated. I’m with you, the software could be vastly improved. I have figured out my workflow and, once you fully understand it, it’s manageable. But still… I would love to see a good solid holistic update.

    Super useful video, thanks for explaining so clearly. I just got the pedal and tried it today and just completely overlooked the preset panel!

      @@thetoneshepherd there is 1 more issue I'm having but haven't had a chance to investigate. How to use the tonex as an interface when using the software to try out tones. It plays both the pedal and the app at the same time. Is this just a matter of putting the device in bypass, or is their more to it? I don't want the monitoring output to be a mix of software and direct tone. Did a search on the internet and the only answer seemed to be use a different interface. Which is a stupid answer as the goal would be to have the exact same input gain when previewing sounds as playing them through the pedal.

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  2 месяца назад +1

      There's definitely a legitimate answer to this, Ned. And I've seen it done. However, I never use the pedal in Interface mode so I have no personal experience with it. It would do me well to learn how to do this method to help those who want to know out.

    Hi! Thanks for the informative video. I am a newbie tonex user and I connect my guitar straight in to the tonex pedal and the tonex pedal to the my interface. But as i understood that you connect your guitar straight into the your interface and edit the tonex pedal presets after that right? And my other question is should i use a di box after the tonex pedal for live situations? I will use tc electronic pleatorah after tonex pedal in my effects chain.
    Thanks!

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  6 месяцев назад

      This is a good question. Because I never use the ToneX pedal in Interface mode, I can't comment on how that workflow works. But I do believe it could potentially be easier if you do it that way. I just have two pedals and can't connect both at once so that workflow doesn't work for me anyway. But yes, I do use a DI box live. I actually use a Pinstripes DISO+ Line Isolator and that works much better than a regular DI.

    I Cannot get my Tonex Software to pickup my guitar in real time to make edits. And I've been using modelers on tour for over a decade but this is incredible frustrating.

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  6 дней назад

      It can't currently edit the pedal in real time. But there's a chance IK is working on this functionality. I've heard hopeful rumors.

    Love You're content and your Captures !!! Question - what is your Routing when trying out captures in the Tonex software ? Guitar into the front of the interface (Apolo) or guitar into your pedalboard - through the tonex pedals into your diso then out to the L and R input of your Interface ? Thanks for your time !!!

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  4 месяца назад

      Thanks a ton! I do both methods actually at different times. Most all my demos though are through my whole board, going through the DISO into my Apollo interface.

    Hi, I have tonex cs and it doesn't load custom iR's, and the support team, In a week later just told me "it works for me, I don't know why it doesn't work for you" so I really have no idea how to fix that.
    Do you think you can help me?

    Just got tonex one last week, one problem I'm having is when I'm plugged into the software with my pedal and running through my frfr cabinet I'll get a tone I really enjoy and put them on my A and B then when I disconnect from the software and just play directly through the pedal with my frfr cabinet the tones sound completely different and I can't seem to figure out why.. any pointers?

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  15 дней назад

      Hmmm, that's interesting. How things translate from one environment to another has a lot to do with input trim and gain staging in my experience.

  • @tylerjames9626

    This is great! How do you go about this with two Tonex pedals? Can you connect and manipulate both at the same time? Or just one at a time?

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  6 месяцев назад +1

      Unfortunately you have to do one at a time. On my pedalboard I have two USB outlets on the sides connected to each pedal.

    Do you recommend to adjust gain with the new software?

    • @thetoneshepherd

      Not exactly sure what you mean...

    • @oleksandrk4853
      @oleksandrk4853 6 месяцев назад

      Sorry, I ment "input trim"

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  6 месяцев назад +2

      So I still put my Input Trim at 8.5. I still find that works best for my captures and many other captures I try. But, do know that the Gain knob on the ToneX pedal (per preset) effectively does the same thing as Input Trim--both simply add clean signal to the front of the capture. So if you wanted to run your Input Trim lower than mine, you could adjust the Gain up on the presets and get close to the same level.

    when I try to import my purchased presets it says I reached my limit and would have to upgrade, can you help? Thanks

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  3 месяца назад

      It's sounds like you've reached your limit and need to upgrade! Ha! In all seriousness, the limited versions only have a limited amount of presets you can add I guess. I believe when I purchased my ToneX it came with MAX which hasn't capped how many presets I can add. Perhaps you have SE? (BTW, I don't work for IK Multimedia so I can't answer some of these technical questions)

    editing the tone model and make it as a new preset, or just edit the preset in the tonex pedal. is it the same thing ?

    Hi, I just want to test and hear some of the capures I bought from Tonex Factor, do I need to get an audio interface?(guitar -> pedals -> tonex -> audio interface and then to my macbook?)

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  4 месяца назад

      If you’re just using one ToneX pedal at the very end of your chain you can use ToneX pedal as a USB interface. But you’ll need a separate interface if you’re using two ToneX pedals or running wet effects after.

    • @swordio777
      @swordio777 Месяц назад

      Hey man, I know you made this comment a few months ago so hope you worked it out before now, but on a mac you'll need to give the Tonex Pedal / One microphone rights to use it as your interface. You can do this through System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone, and then make sure the Tonex button is turned on.

    That software seems just terrible. So much people are confused about it and sell their units.
    I won't try one of these pedals, no matter how good they may sound, unless they completely change the software to a userfriendly, modern standard.

      I hear ya. But I'm still grateful IK is making the ToneX! It's working great for me!
