    First time I made Okonomiyaki I used their flour, I messed up the ratio of batter to cabbage so it was kind of soggy, but still good. Fast forward to 2 years later I had it in Japan, and my abomination wasn’t even close in comparison, lol. Props to Lizzy, well spoken background on company, and she speaks fluent Japanese ❤️. • @pilot4prophet
      @pilot4prophet 5 лет назад +5

      Yeah, the gluten issue is largely a farce. Celiac disease is not really prevalent, but the wheat based major ingredient in this recipe makes the gluten free issue moot.

    • @Doogleraia
      @Doogleraia 5 лет назад +3

      pilot4prophet The majority problem with celiac disease isn't what most folks believe, and conflate for gluten-allergy. The problem that leads to celiac disease is that the grains are from seed embedded with pesticides like roundup in the seed itself, so the plant will grow to be almost pathogenically pesticidal and then when consumed by humans cause the lining in the intestines to react in a way that triggers an immune response. The immune response causes the villi in your intestines to retract to a borderline malnutrition state and not pick up nutrients.
      It's why a lot of folks who believe they have celiac disease are surprised when they manage to eat grains, wheat, etc elsewhere in the world any have no reaction to it and heirloom wheat etc.

    I never knew the history of the sauce for okonomiyaki even though the picture of their office building that was destroyed is iconic and having lived in Japan. Funny thing is I've never heard of this brand before, the logo is familiar but yeah...... doesn't help that I can't read Japanese lol. I always thought the Bulldog sauce (bulldog brand tonkatsu) was the traditional sauce for okonomiyaki.
