  • The story of Shapur I, the Persian Sasanian king, and his conflicts with Rome is a remarkable one. Shapur I defeated several Roman emperors: Gordian III, who was killed in battle against him, and Philip the Arab, who was forced to sign a humiliating peace treaty. Later, he captured Emperor Valerian and turned him into his slave.
But who exactly was this extraordinary adversary of Rome, and how did he achieve such feats?
this is the story of Battle of Eddesa

Persians and Romans were true rivals not only in military issues but also culture, sanitation, civilization, economics and etc.
Unlike other berber kingdoms such as arabs, goths and Turk.

Thank You! Best video on the subject so far. The mix of pictures, storytelling and music is very well done and keep the audience interested. Tjough, other Sasanian kings like Shapoor II or Khosrow I were not less than Shapoor I. Could you please also the word Iran without saying "ay" at the beginning? it is actually spelled with "ee" at the beginning. Best!

Amazing work! Hope to see more Sassanid content. Consider doing a video on the 602-628 war.
