Nice finds, thanks for sharing! The bio book on McKuen, A Voice of the Warm, was fascinating, gave me a much deeper appreciation of him. The author did a great job of compassionately sharing RM’s struggles and his message of love and activism. Really interesting read!

John Charles, I noticed that the painting on the left side of your room (over your right shoulder in this video) is 'Balinese Girl', a painting by Vladimir Griegorov Tretchikoff, a Russian-born artist who spent much of his life in South Africa.
A few years ago, I bought a large pricey and out of print coffee table book, 'Tretchikoff' (1968) by Howard Timmins, featuring all of his famous paintings including 'Chinese Girl', 'Balinese Girl', 'Lady of the Orient', etc. which had very bright, almost psychedelic, colours for the most part, so naturally, his paintings were very popular in the psychedelic 60's.
Anyway, that's a cool painting/print for sure to have among your Tiki/Hawaiian décor. :)

You are stepping it up, alright. This is noticeably higher energy and engaged. The coffee, maybe? What kind do you drink? I don’t recall any from the grocery haul videos. It’s been awhile, though.
Rugolo actually worked with Kenton’s band doing arrangements. They were considered ‘progressive’, attempting a fusion of big band pop, jazz and classical music. Sometimes it was easier listening than at other times. You forgot to mention Living Jazz, who might just be my favorite of all the iterations of the RCA Camden assembly line. Phil Bodner was behind those and practically everything he did was gold.
I have one of those Essex records too, The Alto Sax of Jay White Takes Me To Far Away Places. One of the best covers ever. Great colors. I still think the 50s and early 60s was the heyday of record album art. The label art departments just seemed to do it better and more striking than when artists themselves started to have more input, somehow.
The Steel and Brass looks interesting. I like steel drums and pans but I’m really a sucker for anything with vibes, xylophones and marimbas.

How could I forget Living Jazz?? lol. Yes..the 50s produced amazing album artwork, both cheesecake AND ART. Thanks for watching!

You crack me up. Love your rips on our ages and such.
I take it you got a new microphone? Cleaner sound.

Yes, I had just been using the mic in the phone, which is good..but I noticed in my new place the accoustics are a bit different and i thought a mic might do a better job. Once I figured it out and it decided to work, it's been great, lol.
