So guys, now it's over to YOU. Do you agree with the points in the video? If so let me know - if not, tell me why! Let's continue the conversation about how best to approach your time in the sim.

Bro you approach it with such a mature, humble, and level-headed mindset. You’re my type of racer - would be glad to be side by side at some point. Great video. Great reminders.

Agree with all of your points. When racing gets frustrating I just a take a few weeks break from it. When I come back to it, it is fun once again.

I'm using a G29 desk mounted. I get so frustrated because if I start to lose control, and counter steer, the clamp comes undone and the wheel slides, causing me to fishtail or wreck into someone.
I feel horrible when this happens because not only did I just ruin my race and my iRating, but ruined someone else's race as well. I just made D class, and am trying my best, but iRacing is a massive step past ACC or another title that I'm used to.
I want to increase my iRating to get into the classes with experienced drivers, so I am less susceptible to dodging a wreck happening in front of me, as most of my wrecks are me trying to avoid someone.

Great video and a good outlook. I have been guilty of this and it puts things into perspective. As you say, we do this for enjoyment and the fun of racing. Your video reinforces this and its something that I am taking on board. Thanks for making the video.

I was a bit obsessed by getting to A class and always looking at my irating, I changed my outlook to if I can get green points its not worth thee risky moves and battling with over aggressive drivers, let them go... I find you usually breeze past them after a while when they are in a sand trap or wall.

Here is my night that just happened ….. qualify 3rd for road race on a track I just bought. Race starts and the guy behind just plows all of us in the first corner. Race over.
Qualify 2nd for a dirt road race. Leading the race almost entire time. Last corner before finish last place truck just rams me and pushed me over the wall ending the race and forcing a DQ on me for some glitch.
Qualify 1st on another dirt road. In second place towards the end of a race. As we lap last place the guy will not move. He says to us (after he totaled 1-3 place and himself ) that we “were to aggressive and should learn to be patient and just wait for the right time to pass him”.
That was my entire night off work. Ruined. My entire weekend I think I had only 2 races I was able to complete. Something has to change. There has to be a better way. Or another sim ….. at this point I did not spend 10k to just have human garbage continuously ruin my day.

I was in a race yesterday and I went from p23 to p2 with four laps left, then someone came out of the pit and went straight up. I had no time to react and it ended up with me getting towed. I finished in 10th.

Dont switch to often between cars. Muscle-Memory is an important thing in SimRacing.
Also learn where your current level is. Which cars can you drive and wich not. Dont drive an F1 Car if you spin every second corner.
And my absolut important tip is: Build a nice area for your hobby. Keep your desk clean, have maybe some racing stuff like pictures or something around you. And if you have enough space, build a SimRig. There are a lot of options from cheap up to "Your partner will leave you (more space yeah)"

    • @Harto1

I agree with one to four.
I never do five! Never! I race for the fun of racing! And if something bad happens on track and sends me to the back of the grid, I keep on driving. And most of the time that happens, I find new drivers to compete with and have fun with. Just ignore the dent in your ratings afterwards! With a bad race result you do not lose your ability to race. And with the next race you regain most of the dent back anyway.
Side note: I race online ACC. And even with a broken car I can teleport back to the box and repair the car. It costs time and a lap or two, but it lets me keep on racing.

Excellent video. I agree completely with your comments. I have been very frustrated over the end of last season due to getting caught up in other drivers garbage. When our sim time is so limited to a handful of races over the week, and you really want to grow your irating to run with the big kids... can be incredibly frustrating when someones poor choice ruins your evening. he challenge is to recognize how you react and how you ultimately decide to behave due to it. The end of last season I had to step back and decide if I was actually having fun, or being to obsessive with the metrics. Week 13 jumped into a mazda and Gt4 race and found i could start having fun again. Check out my RUclips channel for videos to see them :)
