  • The release of the 007 movie "No Time To Die" has been postponed to later this year, and although we’re excited to see the latest Omega Seamaster 300m on James Bond’s wrist, that doesn’t mean we have to forego cool dive watch related content until then. Today I share 9 affordable alternative divers that have also seen action on the wrists of prestigious militaries from around the world, priced from $200 to $10,000.
We’ve explored Omega's involvement with military timepieces, including the production of watches for the MOD, SBS, SAS, RAF, and of course, James Bond himself. Now, let’s take an in-depth look at some of the most underrated military watches you can buy for less (and sometimes far less) than the asking price of the latest Omega Seamaster (Ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001) which retails at $9,200 new. With its deeply vintage military inspired design and style, what else can you get for that money?
Join me for a deep dive into a world where quality, precision, toughness, reliability, and function are a matter of life or death for some of the most elite military organizations.

I was an infantryman. I served with a ton of Rangers and a few Green Berets. Got to do some training alongside SWCC and observed MARSOC on occasion. Also, I now have a SEAL buddy. The one thing we all had in common was our watches. Omega? Rolex? Tudor? Citizen? No, we all wore Casio G-Shocks.

In 2012 NFW watches designed and manufactured a 500 meter dive watch by working closely with the 7th Special Forces Group, particularly after the unit was moved near the southern coast when they occupied their new compound in the vicinity of Eglin AFB in 2011. What was born from that collaboration is the Shumate Dive watch. The watch is named after Sergeant Major Walt Shumate - the first sergeant major of the famed Delta Force - and considered the founder of the Army Combat Diver Course. The watch is no longer available as they sold very quickly among the Special Forces operators. The founder of NFW watches recently mentioned on social media that he might do a limited quantity release of the Shumate diver watch later this year. I am lucky to own two of these watches. They are amazing.

    Great video!
The Vostok Amphibia was made to specification for the USSR Navy and utilized a case design, which shared many of the same qualities as the super compressor (the acrylic crystal and the case back would expand under pressure to increase the water ressistance). Apparently the watches also went to space during the 1970s.
The Citizen ana-digi diver JP2000-08E has alledgedly been utilized by members the Danish special forces combat divers, or the "Frog Men". It has been nicknamed the Pingo after the Danish Crown Prince, who supposedly wore this reference during his time in service.
And although not being issued, the modern Seiko Turtles SRP77X have a distinct Vietnam-era, PX store vibe to it, harkening back to its ancestor, the 6105.
Thanks again for your excellent content and stay safe! :)

What a fantastic smorgasbord of history! Especially for me...my first really good automatic watch was a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf I bought as a senior in high school. My choice at the time was between it and the Doxa; as I recall the Doxa was around $50.00 more, but as a kid my income was limited. Now, many years later I'm sporting a Sinn EZM 3F and loving it. For something building up its credentials in the present day, I like the Christopher Ward C65 Dartmouth - old Royal Navy Seamaster 300 vibes with their own twist in Black+Fauxtina or Blue+no-tina. This identification is on every piece of equipment that the UK MoD purchases. From uniform to tools to aircraft engines. Apologies if you knew this, if not it wasn’t meant to be a lesson. I really wanted to feature them, but I can only talk about watches I have had real world experience with.
      Hopefully one day.
      Thank you David,

Wearing a Marathon field watch right now. Tritium, sapphire, stainless steel case, ETA movement.
Also have one of the newly-updated Marathon Navigators with the sapphire crystal and battery hatch.
Both watches are so light and comfortable to wear that you don't feel them when worn and neither watch "floats" around on the wrist - they stay put.

The longines Heritage compressor is a great alternative to the JLC for everyone lustig after a compressor but not able to afford the JLC.
Thank you for the Gread Video as always and I really love the Intros with hugo his role in your channel has evolved in a great direction.

Great to see Hugo!!! Yay! I reckon you've got the Yema on your wrist, judging by it's unique bracelet. The No Time To Die Omega is actually a Grail for me. There is something aesthetically about it (especially on the Nato) that spells perfection, including the Faux Patina. I love the TONE of the colour of the Patina. It's way out of my price range at the moment so I would love to get a decent homage. But to be called a homage it must have the patina, the tropical brown dial and fully lumed bezel. Haven't seen one yet, but hopefully something will come out soon...

I bought a vintage Tissot Visodate Seastar so I'm gradually moving up the quality line. I love it. Some of my first purchases 3 yrs ago seem a little pedestrian to me now. But I still like my dopey high beat dynabeats and komardirskies and some others. Quirky stuff with style. Sold my Seiko Flightmaster, sigh. Regards from Ontario. Raising a toast to better days ahead. Stay well. You never ever make fun of anyone's watch though you have access to Rolexes.

Christopher Ward C60 Trident is very popular with UK military units. Good price point $600-700. Unit insignia added and personalised. Have had mine 6 years, fantastic timepiece. Top of the range parts within and CW gives great service.

Don't the Vostok Amphibia watches also use compression to create a tight seal compressing more the deeper you go, developed in 1968 I believe.
