Wow. So cool. From the title I was scared this could be some mumbo jumbo new age thing, but this was one of the better talks I’ve heard about church audio! Sound theology, amazing anecdotes, and just the right amount of empathy for the fellow church audio engineer. Thanks!
These profound teachings about the nature of physics in sound reinforcement in today's world... Hoping we shall need sound Gears in Heaven too! I had to watch it over and over again.
Equating the importance of people hearing Jesus' message on the lakefront (which made it into Scripture) with the sound quality for an average weekly sermon at a local church seems a stretch. I mean, people have the original message in print! Plus the maths on 4000 years maintenance on the landscaping is just bizarre. Take it to the other extreme and say all the online world needs is a hundred quality sermons in every language viewable on Vimeo by phones and the local church needs NO sound or video system. It can go back to being house fellowships meeting face to face, which is how the church first exploded. But we Christians love to platform people and share in the power and $ surrounding big ministries. It also allows tech-heads to manifest all their wet dreams as part of the evangelical industrial/marketing complex. (So you know: I ran my own student ministry PA business because I hate crap sound and I wanted to make decent sound affordable for conference venues lacking any PA)
Ancient Greeks, came after Jesus.? 🤔 This is really weird. Trying to justify over spending AV systems.. I really can't believe he's trying to use scripture to justify spending of funds that can be used for better / more important things... How did churches effectively spread the word prior to this trend..? "video matters, if you didn't see it, it didn't happen" The opposite of faith. This is demented.
You don't need a "expensive" system, but what you do need is GOOD and CLEAR sound This is practical, proper use and need of good sound equipment and how its effective in use
Hmm should I respond… I feel like u left this message and will never read people’s reply anyways because you know ppl will always prove u wrong. We’ll see
Am all in on this. He is adding relevance to our contribution as Techs in the church. I wish Pastors and worship leaders would watch this too
Kent is the best! He was one of my teachers in my Undergrad, and he has so much knowledge it's incredible to hear him speak.
Kent is so amazing. He really loves God and loves what he does.

Kent is such a cool dude. Loved this talk at this year's conference.
This, right here, is so worth watching!
It was nice to see this video. I honestly believe that my calling is directing video for Christ.
Awesome! Great stories! Great information on the practical tech (landscape) Jesus used in preaching.
This gotta be my most favorite church front video ❤

1) Already watched this and liked this from my church account, but

Very interesting take, Gary Cook! "Mmmmm! A bit cynical are we, Yessss!"
@@LynwoodJohnson I do know the power of those tech dreams. When I got my first wireless Sennheiser, I felt like I'd arrived!
