All rock. No talk. Uncle Ben Eller here with a boatload of classic 80's riffs and my favorite amp i've ever bought, my Friedman BE100! I am seriously in love with this thing. If you're going for tones that start at Van Halen brown sound and go onwards towards the Sunset Strip sound of the hair metal era, this is THE AMP for YOU! Its just amazing, every time i play it. So to demonstrate, i'm gonna lay down some of my favorite riffs of the 80's (and a little of the 90's) on you! No talk, no tabs, no lesson. Just TONE. Can you name all these iconic riffs from the 80's?! Drop them in the comments if you can!
Gear:

Top 3 Best Parts of this Video: 3) Song Selection, 2) Ben's Live Playing, 1) Ben's Facial Expressions.
I saw “80’s” and “Ben Eller” and couldn’t click fast enough
Nuno stands out above the rest and is instantly recognizable, in my opinion. Great playing of Suzi!
You say Nuno, I say Vito!! Good stuff!
@@flatbaroque4049 I say both. Nuno's rhythm playing though is so amazing.
@@flatbaroque4049 why not both?
Dude.... I had so much fun just sitting back and reminiscing the days screaming rock guitar ruled the waves! Thanks man!
Look at that face! THAT, is a face of a happy camper :D. A one happy camper during a hard and heavy guitar season. A Guitar, an AMP, a Cab, an occasional pedal and a load of kickass fuckin riffs!
great sound, crunchee
Love John Sykes. The riffs never disappoint.
I love how you couldn’t help but play the one solo… White Lion’s “Wait” Vito was a beast! As are you sir. 👍🏽
Retitle this to 10 minutes of rockin' heaven.
80s metal - best music ever!
So cool to see someone having so much fun just jamming!
That was such a purely awesome 10 minutes of 80’s riffage, by the end of it I felt like my hair grew back!!!!
Great job. 80s metal had a feel to it, and a creativity, that has never been matched or even approached since. It was the Golden Age of electric guitar.
This was really fun. Some of my fav riffs in there especially Loudness!
Look at that joy.
I was a lucky one.
We could have been born a pianist in the 20’s. A drummer in the 40's, playing trumpet in the 1960’s. But no, I was raised as a guitarist with 1980’s hair metal guitar gods as our after school babysitters. We are the chosen ones. Party on Bill. Party on Ted. Excellent.
Thank you for taking the time to properly record audio.
I just pissed my neighbors off for 10 MINS straight!!! PLAY IT LOUD 🤘🏼🤘🏼Thanks @Ben Eller
U R da Man🤜🏼🤛🏼
Great playing there Ben, that takes me back.
That whole thing really illustrates how much a solid rhythm section adds to the mix.
So fun, frustrating and satisfying as my foggy brain slowly figures them out! 😜
Yes Ben, I'm glad you're enjoying my guitar 😉
Yes a little Britney Fox! I could name them all easy. Great playing as usual.
My favorite 80’s riff is High Wire by Badlands. It’s🔥🔥🔥
That was awesome Bro. Loved the more obscure riffs you threw in there. We need a part 2!!!!
Challenge accepted
@@BenEller oh man I can’t wait for part two 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wow bro , you’re pretty good !!!!!!!
Uncle Ben Eller makes this world a nicer place...
If a Freedman sounds that good, it's coming home.
Even better in person.
What great tone man. The Vito Bratta solo from Wait around minute 4:20, lol, is just amazing. great job
I like riffs that are nice. They’re more betterer than riffs that suck. And that’s a good thing. Uncle Ben, you’re the best uncle that’s younger than me that I never had!
Still waiting 2 years later on the 5150 lesson. You're probably the only one that's ever going to be able to help me figure that one out uncle ben.
Dude that song gets me too??
Crying in the rain!
Sat and listened to the sykes version yesterday, omg.
Thanks for the stroll through my teens and 20s. Great job man.
This is the greatest video of all time
I got most of them. That solo on wait was awesome, that’s the best solo of the eighties tied with mr crowley. Nice work
thanks for making this 80s/friedman guitar video exactly for me!
Ben, your playing contributes considerably to the tone, but Dave makes and amp with a glorious tone. Takes me back to those songs from my pre teen and teenage years. There is something about music from that time of your life that just sticks with you and really grabs you. Just hearing a single riff can immediately put a smile on your face and bring you back to some formative experience in your life.
You said it Bro 🤘
Kick ass amp! Amazing playing!
This video reminded me how insanely good of a player Vito Bratta is. Kudos to Uncle Ben for going after the Wait solo!
Hell yeah! Kix from out of nowhere! Awesome riffage Uncle Ben! NAILED IT!
Excellent!
Akira Takasaki!!! So Glad you threw Crazy Nights in there. "We're gonna do our best!"
Wicked, Sleazy, Slinky. Superb playing. Covered a tremendous # of great players with authority. Rock On!
The riff faces of Uncle Ben are a top 5 reason to keep coming back every time! You’re having a blast and it shows. We love ya, Obi Wan Riffobi
Best ten minutes of your life right here folks 🤙🏼
Have a BE-100, it does everything. Have a Jubilee and a JVM. Great playing Ben.
Nice! Classic JB and Jazz combo, can't go wrong with that. Fantastic tone and playing by the way.
You my friend are the best when I heard girl school I knew we were long lost brothers only thing that would have made it better was a little Run to the hills
HBE master??? Is that on all the BE-100’s?? This was outstanding. I’m not a “subscribing” kind of guy…but, you got me the second you started playing. Very cool, Ben!
Hi uncle Ben ! Your playing is always perfectly clean. Watched the entire video but can't get out of my head Bark at the moon's riff : crazy AF
When you did those white lion hammer ons. Just wow!!!
Hells yeah Unca Ben! Fantastic Eighties riffage. 🤘😎🤘. Its great to see you young whippersnappers enjoying the music of my youth. It was a golden age kids. 🤩👍
Thanks, this made my day! I only had the band and no song name for just 3 - reminded me of why I play guitar... to have fun! Rock on! 🤘
Can I have your brain when you are done with it? Just fantastic just fantastic!!!
I'm so happy that you included some Loudness!
I was always mesmerized by that white lion solo...vito killed that...and you too...also Viva Mick Mars
Cheers Uncle Ben, I just copied those settings into my Helix and it transformed it, been using a BE model for a while but that's a game changer, now if I could just play like you
hi Ben. great exercise. suggestion: can you do a video on how to clean up noises with the right hand? I can tell you I always struggle with this, especially with high gain. Perhaps you can do a video, show few techniques, few exercises etc ? I'm not only talking about palm muting but just in general to clean all these noises with better control of the right hand. Thanks.
Yeah! There’s a video I put up early 2020 called “clean your hands”, sniff it out!
@@BenEller GREAT, I'll check it out. thanks Ben.
Less gain.
@@demokraatti This! I discovered this technique recently. It didn’t solve all my problems, but it was a great place to start.
I struggle with that myself.. i'll sniff out that video too.. you can hear it on the videos on my channel, and i hate it..
These are my jams. love your song choices and your playing.
That tone is just perfect Uncle B
Great stuff. Felt like I was back in my college years. You really showcased a great selection of 80s rock guitar. Loved your solo on White Lion’s “Wait”. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!
Wait is a tune that damn near makes me tear up, a great song that nails such emotion! 🤘🤘🤘
Can watch and listen to you playing Extreme licks all day, Suzi wants her all day what? One of the most underrated albums
Sounds good! I have the BE-50DLX. It's my favorite amp out of the many I have. Lots of fun to play.
Really cool! Rifling, much luv👍
I love 80s metal !!!!! Awesome video Ben 👍🏻👍🏻
Great Job Uncle Ben! Totally Makes me want to pick up the guitar again.
Oh man, everytime I hear that 5150 riff I feel so sad at the passing of Eddie. What a great riff from the greatest player of all time. 🤘😎🤘
Best Years of my life were the 80's , so many cool concerts, and some of the best guitar players in my opinion were from that era! Fantastic playing as usual Ben! I have a Friedman BE 100 Deluxe on order expected mid July, I can't wait to plug it in and play some of these cool riffs on it!
NAILED the solo for Wait!
That Suhr sure is a beauty, also your playing as always
@HeavyMetalGuy852 Ahhh... Clever. 🤙
Uncle Ben-You kicked some Ass-Excellent playing (and tone)! Thanks for posting
*10 Minutes of heaven. Nice to hear some Giant in there. Dan Huff was a beast!
I’m hitting like before the video even play’s so I’m definitely looking forward to the VH video come on back y’all 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Ah yes, the glam metal years. So many make fun of it, but it was a pretty awesome time to be a guitarist...
@DFV Louderilk I was just stating "the glam era" not classifying bands. And it was an awesome time. Biggest metal scene in America that almost completely died when that era died.
@DFV Louderilk Black Sabbath is actually my alltime favorite band. Floyd is second. The Wall is one of my alltime favorite albums. I'm old, so the 70s is my favorite music era. Everything didn't sound the same.... But I did love the 80s because the metal bands started incorporating classical influence in the guitar parts heavily.
@DFV Louderilk I felt like, towards the end, the Glam era did go overboard and made people dislike the genre, ushering in the Grunge era and the rock scene in America died at the same time. Was it glam that killed it or grunge? I always felt like it was grunge because the clubs were all jam packed and even nobodies got Rick status playing in a band...and when grunge came in, everybody stopped going to clubs and all the metal clubs closed.
You totally crack me up! 🤣🤣🤣 you are soooo good!! Awesome job Ben🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
so tight, beautiful playing man, brought back some memories 🤘🤘🤘 oh and killer tone 👊
Amazing as always. My fave was youth gone wild right into cold blood. Absolutely amazing 👏 🤙
A 10 min guitar riff solo! Love it. Such killer riffs back in the 80s! 5150 has to be the most underrated VH riff ever…so sick!!
Bark at the Moon . Saw the tour is was excellent.
Total inspiration to learn those Riffs!
Great playing Uncle Ben. I’d love to have a Suhr guitar. I think they’re the best..
great vid. was easy to start air drumming to sone of these. suprised no Randy Rhodes ozzy or Dokken. really great trip down the old lane.
I'm fairly new to this channel and always wanted to see Uncle Ben play. After watching him play, now I really know I suck at guitar. 🤣 As always, great video Ben! Dude you rock!!
That Crying in the Rain riff is just too sick!!!!
King Ben - phenomenal playing! Bark at the Moon; Cryin' in the Rain; Girls School; Gypsy Road; Suzi (Wants an all Day Sucker); Bad Boys; Wait; Looks that Kill; (don't know - damn); Down Boys; Round & Round; Mr. Brownstone; Balls to the Wall; (don't know); (don't know); Youth Gone Wild; Cold Blood (KIX!)
I can help a little, after Looks that Kill is 5150 by Van Halen.
And House of Pain
Cryin' in the Rain, not Tears in the Rain
I believe your "Balls to the wall" is in fact "Crazy Nights" by Loudness. Very similar riffs though.
Dancing on glass (motley crue) was one of the unknown ones you mentioned mate.
Glad to see Susie on the list...she doesn't get around these days as much as she used to with that sucker of hers. KILLER Nuno riff! Love all of these songs, and this was easy...won't spoil it for the kids though.
That was oddly fun, watching someone else have that much fun.
How do you play so gud? Wait, NO DOKKEN??? No thumbs up!
I know it's not "hair band" but I was sure you'd play "scuttlebuttin' by SRV, thanks for rocking my morning!
Outstanding! The tone with the JB and the BE100 is just insane.
I have the JB in three of my guitars. You can put the JB into any amp at any clean or gain setting and it sounds fantastic.
Ben, your dedication to the craft is unprecedented!! I love watchin you rip out all my faves. I been working on mean street, and prob will the rest of my life!... lol.. But I have maybe a challenge for uncle ben..I would'nt mind seeing you tackle nuno's cupid's dead.......that is some sick playin right there..... when I first heard that, I was like...........F$%^ yes!!!!!!!!
Uncle Ben on Fire!!!!!!!!!!
Somebody must have a Skankbanger show coming up... Great the tone!!! Love the right hand peddling on Bark at the Moon.
We need a Skankbanger tour.
Great video Ben! You could teach "It's showtime" (david lee roth/ jason becker) great song and musical lesson , also great riffs and solo , 🇨🇱 Cheers from Chile !
This solidifies the fact that Ben Eller is one of the greatest guitarists in the world !
Amazing choice of licks as always👍🤙 a very underrated 80s band that gets no love but is so good sounding and pretty technical is Bang Tango. Love Injection is an amazing song 🎵 they have a great funk rock sound. Amazing bass and great sound production. 👌
Awesome Bro! I'm looking into a BE-100 DLX right now.
3 now, nine minutes in. Geez, I thought I would be better at this. And that's it.
Nice playing!
I am 52 I was living these riffs in real time, got them all. Thanks!
Uncle Ben You make me try to play better! Thank you!
what a glorious video
Bark at the moon
Looks that kill
Round and round
Youth gone wild
That's all I recognized by guitars alone. I know, I know *boo this man!*
