Ah A La Ronde, I am and always will be so passionate about this wonderful property. I once volunetereed for a few years at this lovely place. My mother worked for the last owner for a long while. I do miss volunteering in this lovely house, problem is I can not afford to volunteer such as life, its a real shame. I shall never forget the great atmopshere when I was here and being a room guide, it was a real pleaure and enjoyment of mine telling the public the fasincating history of the people and of the property the changes it lived through, the many intresting items and objects in the house, the dumb waiter, the feather freeze etc. This was a few years ago before covid that I had this wonderful experince. However I recently visted A La Ronde and I have to say I was disappointed and sad at the few changes they have made because of bloody covid and still will stay the same with these changes. It was not how I knew it. It was not A la Ronde how I once knew it. They have now decided to get rid of the cafe, silly idea. Instead they have an outside van thing which only serves cake and coffee or hot drinks and toasties when I visted not long ago they sold out of their toasties and did not take their sign board in to make it clear they sold out, so only cake and hot drinks, they do not accept cash! Stupid, and they got rid of their lovely national trust shop, everything is just second hand books, they do not have proper bags if you need a bag in the shop just silly paper ones, on the day we visited I did buy a second hand book but got a silly small paper bag they only had and it did rain! I got to say it left me feeling sad returning to a place I am so passionate about.

That’s very interesting to hear your experiences, sorry for the late reply. I can understand how volunteering can be a nice thing to do. I didn’t see it before so don’t have too much to compare it to but I’ve been to a lot of national trust places and you can see the various set ups with cafes/ shops etc. would love to know some of the bits I missed from the video :)
