I learned to swim at 70 as a self challenge to overcome fears (deep water, diving, drowning). Seven years later I remain appreciative of the teenager who taught me freestyle, backstroke, treading, breast stroke. I swim 1/2 mile and more 3x a week. (I also every day I do 30 minutes of floor exercises.) I’m working now on flip turns. Doing the dolphin hurts my back (degenerative disks) so I cut it out & glide after push off from the wall. Overall swimming is wonderful, the best for seniors.
Last night as a I was at swim practice, in the middle of a 400 free, I was thinking, "I can't wait for tmr, Fares is putting out a new whiteboard wednesday vid!"
I really like that goal setting model, Fares. At first I didn't think it was for me because I DON'T care about speed. But frequency over the course of a year, plus building in resistance workouts in the gym...heck yeah, I started to get excited. I haven't really seen how goal setting could apply to me as a 60 year old with no interest in competition, but I wasn't thinking broadly enough. I'm off to add up how many weeks there are left in the year and structure how much I can add safely given health constraints. Do you agree with the "increase by about 10% per week" idea?
I retired at age 60 and took up lap swimming. I dropped 15 pounds within 6 months. I go to the pool 5 days a week, I swim about 1200 yards. I feel better than I have in years.

Because I really want to start doing a swimming
I would love to be able to swim laps even when I'm 80. I'm in my 30s and started learning for the first time 4 months ago.
Coach Fares the workouts on the app are both in yards and meters?
They are customized to your pool length
Does the app work with Swim Spa’s / Endless pools?

How do I set myself free from depending on fins. Been swimming freestyle for almost 2yrs relying on fins to balance position and increase propulsion.
Thank you very much

Anyone have skin care tips? I swim once a week and started getting hives on my face from the chlorine.
I can swim. But i can jump in to the water because of fear. I also panic when i get into the water and tire up myself. Any advice

Hope more about breaststroke😊I'm Chinese and like your videos very much.
I don't seem to get momentum from my kicks
From what I understand, with front crawl, the kick is for support (so you don’t sink); forward momentum comes from the catch and pull (the arms)
@@tobidaada Depends on the distance - anything 200m and less, you'll need a strong kick if you want to be competitive
Don’t be honest.
Lie like a dog.
I’ve been swimming for 53 years.
I swim 5 to 7 miles per
week.
I feel fantastic.
