The Numbers section has a mistake - I'm wrong about the other two episodes with the same count and gender breakdown. Child's Play 3 and TCM2 both have 8 kills each, not 10. Apologies for the error!
We'll let this slide just this once, lol
You Guys are incredible 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Its ok
The Mummy 1932!
Love you James
I love how Ron Perlman just got a random letter from a random film student and was like: "Yeah, I'll do it."
I mean he also accepted a voice acting role for an at the time indie game series only 3 years later, so he seems like the kind of big name to just appear somewhere
@@AmyCherryLMAOWait which one? That's super cool lol
@@haveagoodday7021 Fallout
He was in black ops 3 zombies and payday 2 as well.
Some actors just really fucking love acting - they'll say yes to anything. Ron Perlman is clearly one of those actors.
Lovin' the weird stuff! del Toro is also amazing, I wish we got his third Hellboy movie, apparently they're making a fourth one without his input again.
Boo to making another Hellboy without del Toro. Blahhh, just let him to it right again!
James' channel is dying. 😂😂
The first two were very good, never watched the third and never wanted too, i heard bad things of it and making a fourth along that same route seems rather questionable
@@Kaiserreich2.0 It's a reboot really not a sequel. And it is more close to the comics, which is why people that haven't read them didn't like it as much. I loved it honestly.
@@Schnipps i'm not saying that you cannot enjoy or thats its a problem to be closer to the source material, i simply didnt like it very much
Ron Perlman is a fascinating actor. He's starred in at least two movies where almost the entire cast spoke a language other than English despite not being conversant in either Spanish or French. In 'Cronos' he was supposed to speak Spanish but it was changed because his attempts were unusable. in 'City of Lost Children' he learned his lines phonetically. That must be terrifying but he did it and he's amazing in both.
He's badass
Acting... Acting never changes.
Guillermo del Toro rarely disappoints, and this is no exception. I'm so glad James has the opportunity to cover these weird, lesser known films, especially this one, considering how it launched the career of one of the greatest directors of all time.
Agreed
Got that right.
James' channel is dying. 😂😂
Next week is INK
Lesser known in the US maybe. He said it won like 9 academy awards in Mexico.
Del Toro is one of those directors I want to just hang out with and talk about movies for hours.
Also the line "Jesus walked on water just like a mosquito" is beyond brilliant.
This show is a great source of entertainment and comfort for my partner and I. It's become a kind of ritual of ours to watch the new video each weekend together and it's helped me to develop a greater appreciation of the horror genre (coming from someone who has mostly avoided them for the majority of my life).
I led with this because my partner just got back from a long weekend out of town, and the first thing he wanted to do when he got back was sit down with some food and watch the new Kill Count. You and the whole Dead Meat crew do such amazing work in terms of research and writing, we love every bit of it. So thank you James, and thanks to everyone else on the team for bringing such great videos each week. We're loving all the weird stuff during the strike, and honestly would be excited to see more things like this every so often even after the strike is over (we know they're probably a bit more work, especially when getting into foreign language films).
Once again, thanks for everything! We can't wait for next week!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment, Matthew. Made my night.
I'm loving weird era Dead Meat. It's fun to see other media covered and some lesser known films. I'm pumped for Ice Nine Kills next week!
Fr! It's rlly bringing me back to the channel :)
Wait James is doing ice nine kills
Channel has always covered lesser known films.
@zashimi1345 I know, but it can be a worry covering these kind of films that people won't watch/appreciate the videos like they do the bigger/more mainstream stuff, so I'm showing my appreciation.
@@slaytahharwood417 Yep and I'm super excited about it, I fucking love Ice Nine Kills
I’m still glad James is covering unknown weird movies that I never seen. I’ve never know this was Del Toro’s first movie until research.
Channel has covered lesser/unknown films before
@@zashimi1345oh yeah, you’re right! Home Sweet Home and other movies were unknown movies
i'm familiar with some of the horror movies he does but there are some horror movies he does i am not familiar with
My dad had this on vhs and honestly I think that was the first movie I ever watched with subtitles
@@officialADMF terrifier was pretty unknown when his kill count came out. Honestly I think Dead Meat helped get a lot of people on the Art the Clown train
It is funny that James should joke about getting "scarab powers". There is a direct reference to Cronos featured in Blue Beetle, when the grandma is flipping through channels she pauses on that exact scene. I was so excited when I saw that
I guess sometimes the new DC movies do something right.
@@MK-yy4rsit was a good movie
That's what I was thinking too
The "estoy estupido" bit is great because it should be "soy estupido", but using the wrong verb makes the joke funnier. If that was planned, fantastic. If not, it all worked out lol
Can we all appreciate the pure professionalism and capacity to be feeling adults from Del Toro and Perlman?
Non-ironically, the first Hellboy movie is one of my top 20 favorite movies of all time.
If there was a new Hellboy movie tomorrow from Del Toro staring Perlman, I'd be first inline to see that.
You’re not alone James it also took me awhile to realize this was I vampire movie. I just assumed that it was a cannibalism film
This movie existed?
I thought it was about clocks
James' channel is dying. 😂😂
@@haiz768the fuck are you talking about
You think this was the only vampire movie he made?
I love how you can see Del Toro's style in all of his films yet they can be so different from each other. Like we have this tragic, somber take on vampires, you get metal vampire action in Blade 2, you get 50s giant bug movie feelings with Mimic, straight up kaiju vs mech in Pacific Rim, and so many more
Yeah, and The Strain is a vampire contagion/plague series (with some cool creature design elements built upon from his Blade 2 vampires). Love how Del Toro addressed the European vampire mythos in all kinds of way! ^^
😂"I don't speak Spanish "I know let's go eat "😂😂😂
Nobody can convince me that Ron Pearlman is not a shaved caveman
Neanderthal
Funny enough he plays a very convincing caveman in Quest for Fire
Bro, he looked cursed without the goatee
James saying "BUSINESS!" will never get old.
Guilhermo Del Toro has to be one of the most fascinating directors out of there. The man went from this mexican gem to gives us masterpieces like Blade 2, Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrynth, and The Shape of Water
And Pacific Rim, which is just good stupid action fun. Plus, he's absolutely adorable in the BTS of Pacific Rim.
@@erinfinn2273 I forgot he made the first one which had Idris Elba as one of the main characters, that was a fun action movie, to this day here’s hoping Del Toro and Perlman finally make Hellboy 3
All of his movies are exceptional except Shape of Water imo, that movie was a swing and a miss with alot of oscar bait.
i know who guillermo del toro is but i'm just not familiar with his work except that horrible pinnochio movie he made boy did it suck i mean the stop-motion animation was good but the screenplay was not
If you haven't seen it, he also did an animated movie called Book Of Life, which is about El Día de Muertos. Fun movie.
Honestly I think it’s super cool and admirable that you guys are still making Kill Counts with the extremely stringent guidelines you have to stay supportive of the strikes. With the two massive breaks you guys have had to make over the last couple of years I WAs genuinely worried were in for another one. So it’s such a relief as a fan that you guys are doing everything you can to press on.
It may sound dumb but this videos are legitimately THE thing I can look forward to most every week. They kind of mean a lot to me, which I hope doesn’t sound weird or sad lol
“Yes, we can be our own sponsor! It’s just good BUSINESS!” had me on the floor laughing. Love the Business Guy accent and love you guys!
I've always loved Del Toro. It was always my personal opinion that if there was ever another Gremlins movie that we should have Del Toro on it
Covering non major studio films is cool. Getting to see different films I wouldn't normally know about is sweet. INK music videos on a Kill Count = awesome. I can't wait!!!
"Estoy estúpido"
This is so much funnier than it would've been if you had used the correct verb 😂
6:43 Ron Perlman and Guillermo Del Toro actually worked together eight times, they worked together on the 2014 animated movie "The Book of Life" where Perlman played the villain and Del Toro was the producer. Just letting you know.
I love seeing a movie including Ron Perlman right now especially, since he’s such a strong supporter of the strikes :D
It's easier to tell thanks to hindsight, but I feel like the alchemist dying by a stake like object in the chest was a hint about Cronos being a vampire film.
That and the dead guy hanging upside down to be drained of blood.
@@user-se7dj6he3e he said he didn't even realize it was a vampire film until towards the end
sorry@@Forgottensnapdragoni don't even know why i said that i should have read the whole comment so i deleted my comment😅😥
@@user-se7dj6he3e it's okay😄
God I still remember watching the first series of Friday the 13 kill count when I was in high school. James and Chelsea please know that both of your playful energetic love of horror has made me embrace this culture so much. I know I’m just a random RUclips comment but I love you guys with all my heart 💕
I know the non-movie stuff you've been doing has been weird and challenging to navigate, but you've done an excellent job. You've really gotten creative with your choices and it's been a blast to watch. Thanks for all your effort. We love you bunches!
Oh my gosh I hope this is implying we'll get more coverage of Del Toro. I adore his films
Me too dude ,his horror has more feels for sure
Weird Era for Dead Meat. However, you guys are knocking it out of the park. You and your team should be very proud!!
I remember seeing this movie returned all the time when I worked at a library. Last year I finally watched only knowing who the director was. It blew me away! Gullermo NEVER disappoints.
Gracias James and the Dead Meat gang!! Love seeing you cover Latino horror, its super underrated. And GDT's Cronos is def a highlight. Un fuerte abrazo!!
It's nice to see Dead Meat cover a Del Toro movie
Will James get around to covering Crimson Peak, Mimic, Shape of Water, or Hellboy someday?
If he wants more vampire stuff from Del Toro maybe he should cover the strain the book series or maybe the TV show I haven't decided yet
@@matthewpuddock1976 The book is great, but the tv series was meh. I fucking hated Zach.
I'd definitely love to see Mimic. Just the first one though
I've emailed the request line for Mimic
I have a feeling I might be known around here and the Dead Meat reddit as "that Crimson Peak person" but at the same time, it would be a great one to cover if only because of the behind the scenes of that entire house set that was built for it!
1. I am really into the ‘weird era’ of Dead Meat already, can’t wait for more!
2. Haven’t even watched the vid but I’m sold when I saw the thumbnail and my first thought was ‘wtf is that Ron Perlman??’
i would love a whole guillermo del toro series of his horror movies. he has so many good ones
Lol lol Every time James says "Business!"
It's like Clarence Williams saying "the shit!"
😂😂😂
Mentioning Gorgio Romero's Martin really makes me want to see a Kill Count on that considering it's a very different type of vampire movie than what most people assume to be a vampire movie.
"the transfiguration" from 2016 is another very unique vampire movie!
Same. One of my favorite movies of all time
I’m really loving these different kill counts!
I was expecting Zoran to say during the sponsor, A ThanksKilling 4 Kill Count and laugh maniacally as Business Janes cowered
Guillermito and Ron are always an amazing duo. 🧡
Like Burton and Depp
I love Ron Perlman he was just on The Fighter And The Kid Podcast and talked in detail about this movie and Meeting Guillermo Del Toro and their relationship and how this movie set up his role of Hellboy
He's also done a lot of voicework you know, don't forget that
Brendan schaub is a racist.
The Tales of Arcadia franchise will always be my favorite del Toro works because they’re half the reason I gave most of the others a try.
wait guillermo del toro made that i had no idea
Yeah, his name is literally in the title
sorry@@twinswords79dualblade84 i didn't know that cause i never watched the show
@@user-se7dj6he3e If you are curious, I highly recommend it! It’s all on Netflix.
It’s called Tales of Arcadia (3 shows and a final movie)
Thank you so much for doing the Ice Nine Kills videos. I love your cameos in those videos. Can't wait!!
Love this channel for years I tell all my friends about Dead Meat and I love we finally get merch 😂
Watching Kill Count is honestly a great way to watch movies with behind the scenes extras
Job well done. These have been some of the best kill counts
11:37 Clocks Nomi is a criminally underrated joke
Thank you!
"What are you… supposed to be from The Future, or something?"
I loved the allusion that James made to Klaus Nomi, when he referred to the Clown that was present at the party that Jesús attended as "Clocks Nomi", hehe.
Its so weird having been around for the beginning of dead meat when it was small all the way to how huge it is now especially with the writers strike causing it to feel like small and weird deadmeat era again. Love how far weve come
Love seeing these videos for movies I never would've watched or even heard of otherwise!
Oh how i love your Sponsorsegments/Merchsegments their always bloody awesome, James!
i absolutely love this series. in a lot of ways i've grown up with it, because i started watching at 12 or 13, and i'm now in my first semester of college. i absolutely love horror in theory, but i'm also kind of a wimp and i'm prone to certain types of paranoid thinking, which can make it bad for my mental health to engage with it directly sometimes. this channel is absolutely incredible for giving me a safe avenue to continue engaging with horror media, and i probably would've never grown to love horror as much as i do without the kill count.
thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to love this genre as much as you do :)
I got out of the shower and sat down to wait for the new kill count to come out. Perfect timing for the mornings as always!
To future commenters, James’s patrons gets videos early that’s why there’s comments before the video came out
I know that already😵💫👍
@@alexanderhopkins7837 well then, they're not talking to you
The “I was not going to jail” comment was so funny to me
I'm really digging these forays into movies we might not have seen before... really encourages ya to explore more obscure indie stuff we might have overlooked otherwise. Love the channel!!
Nothing makes me happier than when I see a new Dead Meat episode has been uploaded
I've watched Cronos a long time ago and loved it! Really digging seeing being covered in a kill count. It's one of those obscure movies that once you watch it, you star seeing references to it in many other medias, just like Suspiria.
I still believe that the way Dio got his powers in Jojo's Bizarre Adventures is a reference to Cronos, for example =P
It reminds me of the scarab Jolyne is given with the stand arrow in it too.
i have never seen or even heard of this movie until i saw this video
Oh nice! I remember catching part of this on cable as a teenager and being so intrigued, but I couldn't track down the name. Thanks for helping me rediscover it!
Probably one of the best merch ads I’ve ever seen. Great kill count as usual!
I'm liking this change of pace that James is doing.
You should cover Emesis Blue. Absolutely FANTASTIC movie, the fact that it's made in Source Filmmaker and takes the cast of Team Fortress 2 and makes a gripping psychological horror/thriller movie still blows my mind.
He actually did!
Any morning waking up to a new Dead Meat is a good morning! But now Im hooked on the MK story line, definitely loved that last one!
I absolutely love these types of kill counts especially ones of movies I haven't heard of. The work put into these vids are amazing
These are honestly some of my favorite Kill Count episodes
Don't worry James you're doing an amazing job and I am really enjoying the weird stuff for sure!! 😊
I thought I was the only one who knew this movie for a while as a tween having found it in an bin of old vhs tapes at my granny's house (yes, it felt very cursed but was very much blessed). As a person who watches stuff like Svengoolie, channels like yours helped me find my favorite community to engage about insane little details in all the horror content of the world and put cold little smile on my pale grim face. Now who wants to set up a go fund me to support an investigation and purchase of one of Guillermo's lost scarabs? Poor dude's dream of owning one was also in the kill count, damn
What a pleasant surprise. Thank you everyone at DeadMeat.
Cronos was fucking phenomenal for a first film. It cemented GDT as a master of his craft.
Truly love the insane look James has when wearing the business! outfit
I love that you still cover films that I haven't heard talked about often! 🎃🎃
"The spirit is willing, but the flesh is full of glass," that futurama reference was great to hear
Cronos got my heart beating. Seems like it has triggered all my senses in one go. No wonder everyone's hooked about it.
well the guy who stuck the cronos device to the right left side of his chest sure got his heart beating😂
Hey James! It’s been a while since I’ve watched your channel! Me and my brothers are a big fan of your vids!
Our favorite vids you did were the purge. Thank you for being our favorite spooky RUclipsr ❤❤
Loving the shift. None of the quality has degraded (all the interest and humor is still going without missing a beat) and it's expanding into other media I regularly enjoy. Keep on keepin' on.
The “Business” was real NCP. Love it James!!!!
Cronos was my very first Criterion Collection purchase. When they evetually released the Trilogia de Guillermo del Toro I immediately upgraded to the bluray, and it is now the prize of my collection. I am so excited to see his Pinocchio getting the same treatment in December
do not waste you're time with guillermo del toro's pinnochio film i saw that film and it sucked it was the worst pinnochio adaptation i have ever seen in my life and i still can't believe that, that movie won an oscar i mean what were they thinkin

I’m a huge fan of Del Toro movies so to see sort of his directorial debut is amazing to see! Thanks! I’m loving this weird era!
Thank you, James for covering this movie. I truly believe that this one and El Espinazo del Diablo (The Devil's Backbone) are the most underrated Del Toro's films. Truly believes these two movies served as foundation for what it is to me, his magnum opus, El Laberinto del Fauno (Panth's Labyrinth), which although not a traditional horror movie, I do believe it's where Del Toro really used everything he learned making those previous two movies and putting it into action on Panth's. Everything feels way more polished.
I really appreciate your work! Thank you!!!
Weird era or not, I feel plenty of Del Toro's work fits here on Dead Meat.
Seeing a clip of Del Toro and Alien Baltan hugging in the intro of a Dead Meat video is one of the last things I expected to see, but here we are! Love it

I’ll always watch a kill count no matter what. Love the kill counts
I have never heard of this movie but exited to See it be covered
I am laughing like a lunatic in my bathroom today.
I love all the behind the scenes clips you have in this episode
Honestly, I love that Cronos is being covered during Hispanic Heritage Month. Representation matters & Guillermo Del Toro is one of my favorite directors!
