  • @Snippiii

Totally possible with far less steps.
And you make it super easy with the pinch bolt... people be careful with the pinch bolt! 90% of the cases it doesn't go that smoothly! Meaning you have to brake the bolt, hammer it, heat the head of the pinch bold and so on. After restalling you clean the hole of this bolt with a file or sandpaper and apply LOCTITE 8060 on the whole bolt! Aluminium anti seize (water and heat resistant) and again i see wrong tourqe specs the pinch bolt is 40Nm.

20:10 The axle nut torque value for B8 and B8.5 should be 200Nm plus 180°. Hex bit should be 19mm.
20:01 The pinch bolt torque should be 40Nm.

    ⚠️ WARNING ‼️
INCORRECT TORQUE SETTING FOR UPPER CONTROL ARMS PINCH BOLT.
As I found out much to my annoyance when it cracked the steering knuckle around upper control arms which costs £400+ main dealer. I believe it to be only 40nm NOT 75nm. Please check torque settings before using and posting. VERY UNIMPRESSED WITH AUTO DOC.

So it’s ok to reuse the coil springs, strut bellow, bump stop, and the lower spring seat if they’re in good condition? In this video I’m not sure if you guys used the same collar or not. I’m definitely gonna get a new strut mounts, cause I don’t want to have any other problems once the suspension overhaul is done!!!

Bought from Autodoc loads of times, great prices for good branded quality parts. But why on earth does this video show total dismantling of the axle hub? Apart from the drop link, the only removal necessary is the pinch bolt at the bottom of the strut clamp. Pushing down on the hub assembly after also removing the upper bolts from the (top) of the upper arms will allow access for the strut tower assembly to be wiggled down and out through the top side of the hub. This avoids the PITA job of pulling that pinch bolt, it still makes for a very awkward job though!

them pinch bolts holding the upper control arms very rarely come out that easy, in fact there an absolute nightmare, poor design fault in my opinion, they would have been better if they were made of stainless steel, i recommend anyone who owns these vehicles if they are not seized is to check and regrease every 6 months or so to avoid the mare i had with' em!!
