It is great because you can adjust swing phase. like the resistance of the swing an basically everything is adjustable. Keep ur head up its hard but you can do it.ur hope for a lot of ppl 🙏. I didn’t realise until recently that when the total knee swings through was that the hinge works slightly to slightly lift the foot as you swing thru so that you’re less likely to catch your toe which would cause the knee to buckle under you. Those bumpers make such a huge difference. 🤗

      Yep that's the difference between single axis knees and this type of knee. :D

    I’ve had the Total Knee 2100 about a year now and I just now found videos about it.
    It took a little getting used to but I’ve used a Mauch sns for 30 or so years. I’m really liking the Total Knee. I’m not interested in any of the microprocessor controlled knees as I don’t want to be tied to a charger all the time. Plus having to have repairs done quite frequently turns me off. For me the ruggedness and reliability is a big selling point.

    I was given one of these knees for my dad from a friend. I took it to the prosthesis to ask about have a socket made and fitted for my dad and they said the supplier said it would not be possible service the knss as it was manufactured too long ago and they are unable to assist. This is super frustrating as the only thing he gets here from his medical aid and the government is a peg leg that he has been using for years.

    They wanted me to be cut above the knee but I am glad I kept my knee. I would not have been able to go camping Last Summer. I don't really like that thing they put over my leg it is rubber and it's going to break down eventually and get a sore and get infected. I don't even know if I want to have a leg

  • @LetArtsLive

    I wonder if Insurance even would pay for a leg that nice. The way the system is now I doubt it. They have to be sure they get paid before you get anything. I needed shoes because I had an amputation of half of my foot and I could not get those paid for it and I lost my leg

    • @AmputeeOT
      @AmputeeOT  3 года назад +3

      Insurance hasn’t paid for any of my parts yet. I bought these parts on eBay.

    • @AmputeeOT
      @AmputeeOT  3 года назад +2

      But generally the only issue people have with insurance is paying for microprocessor knees. I’ve never heard of any insurance refusing to pay for a mechanical knee. Though I’m sure it happens.

      @@AmputeeOT well I have the sleeve coming on Friday. I don't understand why it is rubber? I know I get a temporary leg and then it takes a long time to get a leg. And I know I have to be really careful not to get an infection. And then if I do get one doctors do not want to give me any antibiotics for anything so I have to beg for them if that happens and it starts breaking down I'm scared to lose more. Does yours break down sometimes? I'd rather have no legs then lose more

    • @AmputeeOT
      @AmputeeOT  3 года назад +2

      They don’t make rubber sleeves. It would be gel or silicone. Those are the best materials to prevent skin breakdown.

    What about ankles? Do ankles next?

    • @arturocm3792
      @arturocm3792 2 года назад

      Ankles don´t usually flex much: It would be hard for the user. I'm also an above knee amputee and now use a 3R80 Otto Bock, before that I used really basic knee so I noticed the change in the foot was subtle but in the daily use you are glad for the greater flexibility, but still not so much that you need to "control" it, just makes the gait smoother and easier to cope with unleveled surfaces.
