“It’s a very very conservative version of the hit me baby one more time” ....so like a “slap me sweetheart at your earliest convenience if you so desire?”
Their lawyers would demolish anyone who tried. They say "personal shopper" means that the items were "custom picked for you" and then they could show the algorithm incorporated "personal" data. Alas no one has a chance.
Right! And most of the fabrics were see through when she held them up. Anyone could make that Calvin Klein shirt out of a standard tee shirt for around $5 and it would be better material.
To be fair though, she only picked comfy and edgey as styles and no colours except black and muted tones. So of course its going to be pretty plain. But there could have been a bit more edgey choices I agree with that.
I wish they had a "never" option because there were so many styles in that quiz that I would never even get close to wearing. Then again I'm ridiculously picky about my clothes so an online stylist box would never work for me because I'd return pretty much everything.
I'm tempted to try this or another one because it's so time-consuming for me to read all the details on a zillion items. I'd have to see what all the quiz & input options are because I'm hypersensitive to a lot of fabric types & I didn't see that on the quiz. That makes it difficult for anyone to buy clothes for me (people who occasionally get me gifts know not to buy me clothes unless it's something specific I've put on a wishlist).
@@del_eris I have a similar problem but my main issue is even though I kind of switch between styles pretty much daily based on my mood, I'm still very specific about the stuff I buy. Like my biggest issue is I would tell them I like black and colors and they would give me all muted stuff even though I only wear jewel tones. I have a hard enough time shopping for myself both in stores and online. I could never expect someone who's never even met me to get it right.
@@Mars.M Exactly! Like these online personal shopper things are great in theory but in practice they only work for such a small amount of people that it hardly seems worth it.

After seeing her last insta post I was really ready for this to be a "I Bought Products That Were Recommended to Me After I Mentioned Them Out Loud" video. We all know this happens and I WANT this video.
My husband was listening while I watched this video and casually said "She needs to be an audiobook narrator" So just an idea if you're looking to switch careers

A little bit of info that Amazon probably doesn't want you to have: I was on a job recruiting site and the Amazon stylist job was on there, which means there are real people doing it. But it's also contract work so they're just churning people out approximately every year. So real people: yes. People well versed in fashion: probably not so much. If you keep the service it's probably a different person "styling" you every month.
@@leifang1211 I mean that's entirely possible. The job description was vague, but there are humans in the process somewhere. I'd guess it's closer to the algorithm showing the "stylist" a few dozen options or so and then they pick what gets sent to the customer. But it's also not exactly people passionate about clothes.
My mom has stitch fix and we’ve noticed that after about 5 months of her doing it she’s started loving more and more of the clothes they’ve sent. I think it takes a couple trip for them to understand you style preferences and body type
Yeah, you wouldn't want to send a first-time customer too many items outside their established like or love zone because then you'd risk losing them, especially since many of these personal stylist subscriptions' customers are doing it because they don't have time to shop or face other barriers there. So sending them a few items outside that zone is best to see how they respond to them first
Or, this could be due to Unconscious Bias, thinking that her outfits have been selected by an image stylist. What's important in clothes is not what we like, but how do they look on us and importantly if other people love that look too.
Mohammed Al-Rawi dude wtf. how *we* feel about the clothes we wear is the most important aspect of clothing. what other people think and what it looks like are secondary.
Could you try to answer their survey in exactly opposite way of how you feel about it's answer ? I am curious to see what they would pick for you and how it will actually look on you.
@@ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ608 Maybe not for you, but most girls, me included this is true. I always base most of my clothes on how little I will have to shave for them.

Keeping a black wardrobe is so practical that you can never go back. -Stain-free -All your clothes match -You don't need to think when you choose your outfit I'm all for it

it's insane to me how basic items are so expensive just cause of the brand name. Like you could get the same product somewhere else for waaaaaaaaaaay less.
@@nelesophie174 I always use off brand, I had an ex who always used brand clothing, I can assure you /some/ brands are better quality than just buying the item from anywhere. I.e with t-shirts, a good quality fabric will dramatically diminish how much the smell of sweat sticks to it. With jeans, cheaper brands tend to lose shape easily. Shoes really vary on how comfortable they are. However, not all expensive brands carry quality items. Also, there's a price point where the quality isn't getting any better but prices can still get more expensive. After learning I could have better quality clothing by paying a bigger price.... I still buy cheap clothing 😂
I will be willing to spend more if I know it's quality. I would recommend to anyone just to research a little bit. Sustainable Fashion or find brands you like and read about them to see. There are some really cool brands who are focusing on sustainability and quality.
Its a reference to middle age peasant blouse. I guess a modern "peasant" blouse aka workers blouse is a t-shirt, maybe with randon logos, bands, movies or some other pop culture references
So, I tried Stitch Fix for about a year and my stylist really benefitted from my feedback after the initial shipment. I would be curious to see how the style oicks/feedback given evolution would have played out. Great video once again.
Plain doesn't mean just color, it means style too!!! Not sure why you think she meant the colors were plain. I only wear those colors for the most part too and it's not about the color but the style.
BsTheLadynred yeah but she also chose simple, casual, and athleasure on top of choosing neutral and black, so of course they’ll give plain (plain is fine imo too though)
It seems like they went with safe choices in different styles to see what you liked and didn't like, and then they would start giving you more personalized results. I would say that you should see what gets picked for you after a few shipments to see how well things get personalized.
@@sweetpjeb23 yes, but cheaper styling price since it would be from amazon, it could be worked into the prime membership! you could get decor sent to you for free then if you dont like it send it back! i just dont understand these full stop. i feel like no matter how much detail you give someone, only you will know what you like. sure they can theme things, like theme a room to a specific style but each item wont be something YOU like. thus ending in every home looking like an ikea showroom
Several of my friends have tried this or stitch fix and they all got “safe” the first one and then it got better because they want to see your response.
I used stitch fix for a few month and the last month I had it, it was like the stylist picked everything out that I didn't want. I guess the person I had was phoning it in at that point!
Stephanie P that’s a bummer! Did you get a different stylist? If not maybe they were trying to see what more adventurous things you might like? Who knows.

You can like only black, white, gray, and neutrals and still have some pretty fun clothes. The stylist *did* play it safe and, personally, I wouldn't pay $4.99 a month for someone to recommend these boring ass clothes to me. She also said that she likes edgy style and boho style and she selected that she'd try any trend other than animal print or cropped pants so they had a lot of information to go off of.

I work graves and my coworker wanted to call our shift “the ladies of the night” and did not see how that could be viewed in any other way other than you work nights...bless her lol
@@Birtheish It's short for "graveyard shift". The etymology is hotly contested; the two origins that seem most likely are either (1) since most people are sleeping, graveyard shifts tend to be dark, quiet, lonely, and creepy....much like we think of a graveyard and (2) the % of workplace accidents & death is WAY higher during this shift, for a number of reasons: human bodies don't like to be nocturnal (there have been some studies that suggest night shifts may be carcinogenic), and human society is not set up to allow late shift workers to merely flip their entire schedule (the DMV won't be open when you're normally awake, the kids can't be picked up at daycare in the middle of the night, etc) so those workers are probably living with a messed up sleep schedule. Add that to reduced visibility outside, reduced numbers of workers for teamwork and aid in an emergency, and increased risks taken at jobs that have business or public hours to keep customers/public safe...the graveyard shift has put many people in their graves.
Thanks for the answers both of you! I'm not a native English speaker, so there is a lot of sayings that I don't know. That etymology theory is quite depressing, but it does make sense, on the flip side working graves at a hospital can save lives, so kudos to those who do that.
You should do “my subscribers pick my clothes!” I think AmazingPhil did this a few years ago, it would be interesting to see what people who see your videos and see what you like would pick for you!
You're 100% being styled by a bot with a series of algorithms. This isn't a small boutique where real people could really dedicate serious time to each customer, you're talking about potentially thousands of people needing to be styled all at once and there is no way they are going to pay a huge staff like that, let alone qualified stylists with years in the business, when the bottom line is they want your money.
There may be someone who quickly checks to make sure that things line up with what you like, and takes what you said in the comment boxes into account. Who knows. It could be a full time job!
I also wear a lot of black and I agree with Safiya’s assessment that their picks were nothing really interesting. Color isn’t the only way to make an article of clothing interesting, you can do different and unique cuts or fabrics, have layers to a piece, add unique detailing to certain parts, etc. even with only neutrals you can make patterns out of black/white/gray (see: the black dress she got). I mean it also seems that the service is aiming to give the customer clothing for their everyday wardrobe, those items can tend to be plain and look cool when you add them to something else. There’s a place for plain clothing in a wardrobe, so it’s not necessarily a criticism to say it is plain.

I would NEVER use Amazon for a clothing service. If I can't even trust that the hydro flask I bought is real, I can't trust that the picture of that cute skirt isn't going to show up to my house and be made out of paper
I bought a few clothing items during Christmas time. What I did was look at a ton of reviews to make sure the quality was good. Everything I received was really good quality but I did come across some items that had terrible reviews so I didnt bother with those.
They have gotten a little better over the years if you actually put in the time to search multiple options and read reviews/info. I do have to say though that they are the BEST place for books. You can get pretty much any book used for like $3.00-$10.00 and it ends up looking almost brand new 95% of the time.

The clothes are soooo expensive :s
To be fair though, she only picked comfy and edgey as styles and no colours except black and muted tones. So of course its going to be pretty plain. But there could have been a bit more edgey choices I agree with that.
I mean all she put in the survey was basic colors and styles
Late to the party but I just added the “celestial dress” to my wish list. Multiple reviews titled “Safiya made me do it” 😂
Wait I need the link to this dress! Haha
how did you find it? I searched and couldn't find it!
Yeah Like hijabis are gonna have a really big problem
@@Mars.M Exactly! Like these online personal shopper things are great in theory but in practice they only work for such a small amount of people that it hardly seems worth it.

My mom has stitch fix and we’ve noticed that after about 5 months of her doing it she’s started loving more and more of the clothes they’ve sent. I think it takes a couple trip for them to understand you style preferences and body type
Nice advice for sofiya

@@nelesophie174 I always use off brand, I had an ex who always used brand clothing, I can assure you /some/ brands are better quality than just buying the item from anywhere. Laura Elena Aguirre
Reminds me of my very innocent teenaged self...😆😂😎
What does it mean to work graves?
@@Birtheish night shift, or third shift. Her hours might be 11pm - 7am.

Internet : Hey look Amazon has a personal shopping service
Safiya: hand me my laptop
Tyler: I’ll grab the camera

if that isn't a real song already, someone needs to produce it asap. i don't make the rules
I don’t even know how she came up with that from what’s originally said....
I'm surprised they left that bit in 😆 Its quite rude....... in my country anyway! 😆
@EnderZee 🤣 not a chance! 🤣 You could be 10 years old for all I know. Gotta protect the kiddies! 😁
60$ for some leggings....Imma head out...
Damn straight.
I'm sure that even with your small window of colours etc that you chose they could have styled you more on trend.
I think that dress was super cute on you.
I would NEVER use Amazon for a clothing service. If I can't even trust that the hydro flask I bought is real, I can't trust that the picture of that cute skirt isn't going to show up to my house and be made out of paper
It's better than Wish.
Like she said, there is the wish side of Amazon and the blooming dale's side
I bought a few clothing items during Christmas time. What I did was look at a ton of reviews to make sure the quality was good. Everything I received was really good quality but I did come across some items that had terrible reviews so I didnt bother with those.
Also, the owner treats his workers like shit.
They have gotten a little better over the years if you actually put in the time to search multiple options and read reviews/info. I do have to say though that they are the BEST place for books. You can get pretty much any book used for like $3.00-$10.00 and it ends up looking almost brand new 95% of the time.
She said “Yes to the dress”. Love that pick 🖤
We need pics of Tyler in his new leggings🦵🦵
