Zacc, the shots of the 8 unit consist of fresh T4s were absolutely gorgeous! Just absolutely stunning to see. The newly painted orange and silver looks amazing together! BNSF orange is a fan favorite to me as a whole honestly. It’s also the fact you caught 2 8 unit consist trains in this video, not to leave out the CSX YN2 at the end.
How about a bunch of engines painted in retro ATSF colors? And singing that song in the commercial? Now that would impress me. Or seeing UP having a nice haul of new SP engines in retro colors.
Great video! I love the long telephoto shots! The train with eight units pulling it doesn't seem all that long, though. Any idea why BNSF employed eight units? Please excuse my ignorance, but was this a power movement, or do these units require a break-in period, where they aren't used to pull a full load? Another thing: Please consider doing one of your telephoto shots at sunset, looking West off the I-40 bridge at Yucca, Arizona. Every time I pass over that bridge, I think how cool such a shot would look.
When you see that many (6 to 12 units) on the head end, it always means some engines are being repositioned to other terminals. You can look at it as excess engines being a part of the train.
RailfanJunction Yes indeed a few years ago I was stopped at the railroad tracks and a Union Pacific train went past the lead units was two e9’s great 👍 videos and I will be subscribing
@@raymondbermudez5660 Thanks Raymond! Much of modern railroading has become generic and stale to watch and follow. Hopefully you will see some interesting stuff in our videos although to this day we have never had the chance to see the E9's.
Does anyone know how many of the 8 units would still be needed if they took off all of the smog control dampeners off of all the diesel engines? How much more horsepower would a single unit have? Thanks.
Thanks, this vid also has beautiful scenery. Wonder how far away you were able to see the trains, quite a distance I see. Wish we could see that far here on the east coast. Great vid, thank you for giving me the link, I enjoyed it very much :-))
Kathy, on a good day you can see headlights at least 15 miles away in the desert. When we go out to the Needles subdivision and set up near Trojan, which is shown in this video, we can see trains all the way on the other side of Amboy near Cadiz. Certainly not going to see that on the East Coast!
RailfanJunction that would be cool. I actually went out 66 here in Va. on 11-10-17 and made some vids of my rail fanning field trip. I know it’s not the same but 66 goes from DC out to the mountains in Virginia.
RailfanJunction thanks for the answer. Here in my country the railroad tracks are long overdue, average speeds are well below that. I really like trains one day I would like to be a machinist.
Depends on the region in the east it's around 65 for freight and around 70 for Amtrak in the west its 70 for freight and around 80 give or take for Amtrak
Ha; nothing says a BNSF train nowadays like an endless parade of J.B. Hunt, Swift, and Schneider 53-foot containers. (and for UP, Hub Group, UMAX, EMP, and Pacer Stacktrain.) Regardless, a great compilation with these brand-spanking new T4s.
speaking of Needles, if anyone is railfanning in this area you must stay at this little motel in Needles right on old Route66. It has a perfect view of BNSF line from the second story. It is run by a freindly Indian family and is located a hundred yards west of I40 overpass on route66.
Estimates 10 years ago were at least $2 million dollars per locomotive although I am sure that is much higher now with the cost of the Tier IV technology. If that number is still true, that was $16 million dollars worth of locomotives lashed together in one train. Oddly, nobody at BNSF was on hand to photograph or take video of it even though this would've been something of interest for publicity. When I talked to a BNSF film crew at Cajon Pass about 3 months later, they had no idea about that train and said they never know when new power is going to be sent out on trains. Seemed like a missed opportunity for some spectacular corporate shots but in the end it is all about running trains.

Thanks!! Yeah when new BNSF units are absolutely gorgeous!!
Great angles - beautiful footage! Really enjoyed it.
Sweet sounds listening to those motors running in notch 8👍👍,,

They won’t ever do that, heritage units are all.
Great videos Zachary! love the desert scenes.
Fantastic video Zach
Scenic trains
I like how you had all those trains in the Dry Dessert then at the end Snow. Nice touch at the end, kudos.

Absolutely great video!!! Love those American freight trains! Greetings from Germany!
It would’ve been great if a couple of dd40ax was cut into the middle of the consist or at the end as helper units or a couple of big boys perhaps?
Yes we can all dream! Unfortunately nowadays it's wide cabs almost every where :(

RailfanJunction I can not imagine seeing that far, we may be lucky seeing a half mile in each direction :-))
Sounds like somebody needs to make a trip out to see old Rte 66 through the California desert...
RailfanJunction that would be cool. I actually went out 66 here in Va. on 11-10-17 and made some vids of my rail fanning field trip. I know it’s not the same but 66 goes from DC out to the mountains in Virginia.
Glad you could get out and enjoy the scenery and trains. In my opinion, its a great stress relief to get away!
Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it. Todd Peeler.
Awesome video! I would have paid money to have been able to shoot the new Gevo lashup, those are sharp!
AWESOME VIDEO!

Eight engines is cool on a train but four facing forward and four facing rearward is way cool ..

Yes, all eight were running for that train!

Can anyone tell what the average speed of freight trains?
The train with the 8 brand new engines was going between 30-60 mph from Kingman to Barstow.
RailfanJunction thanks for the answer. Here in my country the railroad tracks are long overdue, average speeds are well below that.
I really like trains one day I would like to be a machinist.
***** You deserve an Oscar kkkkkk

HAY ! What happened to Needles ? You said Needles !
My home town ! That's why I watched - by-damn !

They must be breaking them in with that short of a train. Am I right?
They were being moved to the LA area to be distributed to multiple trains. Several of the units were set out in Barstow.
Cool. Thanks Railfan for the respond
I saw a comment saying that bnsf overdoes their power. On the 2nd clip that seems about right.
+Steezo S some of those engines they were transfering to another terminal on the line
How much is the coast of one BNSF ? Can i buy ?
