      It was the best performer at sanremo this year, but the song is really nothing special nor ESC-worthy. That said he mentioned the possibility of bringing something different on stage at ESC.
      Personally I liked Lazza - Cenere who arrived 2nd place. Very different sound and great vocals. Also Madame - Il Bene nel Male was great. If you feel like doing more Sanremo reaction, I recommend these and definitely Rosa Chemical - Made in Italy which is VERY different from anything else Italy has ever done, and very very queer ;)

    Italy entries weren’t all ballads:
    2011: Rafael Gualazzi-> Jazz
    2014: Emma Marrone-> Rock pop
    2017: Gabbani-> Dance pop
    2018: Ermal Meta+Moro-> Folk Pop
    2019: Mahmood -> Contemporary R&B, Electropop
    2021: Måneskin->Glam Rock
    Taking into consideration the fact that we came back to Eurovision only in 2011 after more than 10 years, the ballads were just a few.

      2012: Nina Zilli didn't bring a ballad (and all the eurofans complained about it)
      2015: Il Volo: opera pop, maybe a ballad? I'm not sure. Anyway they are among the most succefull artists ever competing on ESC stage.
      2016: Francesca Michielin---> soft pop, but definitely not a ballad
      2020: Diodato---> a ballad, but no ESC that year.
      Basically the country skilled in ballads, brought ballads only 3 times including this year since 2011, and twice by the same artist. And maybe the previous ballad from Italy was from 1992. Don't care about stereotypes.

      @@giovannimoriggi5833 Thanks for the clarification, I didn't mention them just because even if those are not "ballads", they are way more on the Italian melodic wave, while all the others I mentioned are completely and absolutely not ballads. Diodato didn't compete but we have to take into consideration that "Fai Rumore" was a ballad and the entry for that year. I agree we shouldn't care but it's a bit tiring to listen the same thing over and over again here on youtube.

      @@mariarosariamaruca9544 you can comment if you feel like, I was just reminding you that it’s so hard.
      Also because Diodato not competing change the things. We didn’t heard the song among the contestants, we didn’t get bored and who knows, maybe he world have won, with a stellar performance. We wouldn’t be here saying a ballad is wrong. And, anyway, it was no ballads since 2013, I think 20-22 and 23 with BEAUTIFUL ballads (and a global phenomenon rock band in the middle) is not a crime, and Diodato performance in Arena di Verona and at 2023 stage were more than stellar.
      But then it seems that we need to apologise, while choices are just winners of Sanremo, which have nothing to do with ESC until it ends.

    It's an italian power ballad. Italian music is about expressing emotions, in this case the self-healing and the rage of a man that judges the many mistakes in his life. You always expect something revolutionary from Italy and then always fall in love with the average dancy song made by the latest international queenie joining ESC. Do you make the same questions to those singers who have been singing the same ole uninventive dance song for the last ten years? In this sanremo you could listen to great groove and beats like Elodie, Madame, Rosa Chemical, Lazza, gIANMARIA and they all sound great and contemporary, but get over it, italians have their tastes and they have a soft spot for power ballads THAT is the style we created in the early 60es with songs like "io che non vivo/You don't have to say you love me". Power ballads are known to be raw and raging and soft and raw again. That's what italian passion is about. Would you say to any contemporary soul singers that they are predictable only because they sing a style that has been a household genre since the early 60es? Do you really consider Adele, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith innovative? Just asking....

    Sanremo is quite a different competition compared to the others.
    Italians don't usually vote for Sanremo thinking about the song as a potential Eurovision entry. Just very few of them do it.
    That's why, for example, songs are usually longer than three minutes, or, for example, that's why our actual winner is thinking of bringing this song or another one and/or modify the language of the lyrics. That's also why winners have to say after their victory if they want to compete for Eurovision or not. Sanremo is always full of different kind of songs and genres. Just some examples:
    - Madame - Il bene nel male: ruclips.net/video/Nq-u9jV1uEg/видео.html
    - Lazza - Cenere: ruclips.net/video/A5ab7U9RVLE/видео.html
    There was also a touching ballad about broken loves in Ukraine.The video is breathtaking, I strongly suggest it:
    - Tananai - TANGO: ruclips.net/video/C7ckx1gbDH0/видео.html

    Sanremo is a competition made to celebrate Italian music, you watch it with your friends, parents and comment on socials about memes and funny things that happen, it’s one of the most waited event in Italy. It’s not something made for Eurovision, we don’t mind about it hahahah, Eurovision it’s just a “side dish”, artists take part to Sanremo without the aim of going to Eurovision, it is only a consequence. This only to explain that we choose songs not according to Eurovision.
    another important thing is the lyrics, we can say that all the songs participating in Sanremo really have even a minimal meaning but they have it anyway; I emphasize that the text is a means of communication, an artist who writes communicates with it. Marco is a songwriter, in this case he chooses to communicate with the lyrics, but I can assure you that in other songs he has shown himself to be an excellent performer, he is a singer known for having sold millions of tickets here in Italy during his tour.
    Today he also said that he’s not sure if he will sing this song 👀

    Sorry guys I have something to tell you about Italian music; first Sanremo is not a selection for Eurovision, it's our festival of the Italian music so songs are not "created" for Eurovision.
    Yes, we have "many words" in our songs because for us it's important the meaning of the song not just "it's catchy".
    I think you should first read the translation of the song, it helps a lot to judge a song.
    I don't agree that we always send ballads ( think about, Maneskin, Mahmood, Gabbani, Frabrizio Moro and Ermal Meta, just naming the last 7-8 years). In any case I am sure that if Marco goes to Eurovision with this song (probably he will choose another song) he will never win; Eurovision's taste is something like the entry of Norway , the so called "catchy" song. Just a suggestion: listen to Madame, Elodie and Lazza songs they perform in Sanremo.

With this song we go back 40 years. But, unfortunately, this song wouldn't have been great even in the 80s. In a song, the music comes first, then the lyrics (otherwise, I'm reading a poem). Music can also be simple, like that of many songwriters, but it must be good. Here we have banal music that even has its weak point in the chorus. I don't save a song for the lyrics, if the music doesn't convince me. If you don't have good intuition about the musical part, then better write poetry.

    I totally understand your point of view, but..., about the "too many words" issue: You have to consider that this song is produced for an italian music competition, that only happens...to be sent to an international one. Not the opposite. And those, too many words have a different sense when you understand the meaning. :) This is for sure something you already know yourself, and of course you judge this song from an international point of view, that is not the one for which this song is born for. Not saying you are wrong, just explaining the "too many words". Anyway, maybe "Joy" would appreciate it! :D
    The second classified at Sanremo wasn t a ballad, if you are curious about it. Just look for Lazza "Cenere". Much less classical. Actually, Italy is not sending ballads so often. Generally Sanremo winners can get in this category but it is not always like that. Mengoni has a lot of fans, both in his specific fandom and in the Italian general audience... it's like he's been adopted (also because of his personality I gotta say, he really is a sweetheart and a very professional artist).

    I hope that you know that Sanremo ISN'T a national selection for ESC but it's the Italian Music Festival, and here (in Italy) is more important than ESC, in fact, here no one talks about Eurovision and when we decide the winner of Sanremo we don't think about ESC, and I think Sanremo is better.
    Singers who win Sanremo can choose whether to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest or not to go.
    In this last case, the runner-up will go (for example in 2016 the Stadio won but Francesca Michielin, that was the runner-up, went to ESC), but also the second may not go so we go to the third place and so on...
    Furthermore, the singer can also choose to sing another song, other than the one that won Sanremo.
    And then you will wonder why Italy uses Sanremo as a "selection" for the ESC.
    The answer is that, when Italy returned to the competition, RAI (Italian television) decided to use Sanremo so they wouldn't have to do another competition (in fact even in the years in which Italy was absent from the Eurovision Song Contest, Sanremo was there, in fact Sanremo has continued uninterruptedly since 1951).
    As anticipated, Sanremo was also born before both the Eurovision Song Contest (born in 1956) and Eurovision in general.
    In case you already knew it, forgive me, but may this comment be useful to someone who doesn't know it, because Italians are fed up with Sanremo being considered a simple national selection for Eurovision.
    I didn't expect to write such a long comment, but if I did it means there was a lot to say.

Here it was the first evening of Sanremo and he was very excited and also had a fever and sinusitis, despite this he sang wonderfully! ❤️ At the point where you say he screamed, all the other pros called him an alien because he can modulate his voice so masterfully that it seems from another world, moving from one key to another.
    The songs presented in Sanremo are meant to be the best Italian song and not for Eurovision, where a different style often prevails, but this is real music and it could still win. The song is about the inner conflict we all struggle with, that's why he feels the song very much in his heart while singing it. The text speaks of two parts of the same person, the conscious and the unconscious that talk to each other, the life of dreams that collides with that of reality. Truly a deep and emotional meaning, a beautiful music that together with the text take the audience into a dreamlike scenario. Furthermore Marco is an excellent interpreter, this makes the difference and makes this song perfect, because he transmits all the emotions to the audience that watches and listens to him, even to a foreign audience that does not understand the Italian language and this says everything about what a great artist is Marco.

    Himself, the microphone, earphones, his voice and his talent, that is all Marco needed to perform in a superlative way this magnificent song full of content, poetry and soul. Songs like Tattoo performed by Loreen are for sure very into today's music business and are great to listen to. I very much like it as well. But mind a lot is turning around it. Technical support, scenery, studied outfits and dance moves. Furthermore this song has in part been copied. My opinion is that she was out of tone during her exhibition at the final. But as said this is still a great song.

    Hi!
    So I want to start talking about the Blanco thing (it is a long thing, just so you know) and then I will say some thing about Marco's song itself in a different comment.
    I don't know what news you read about Blanco's performance, but I followed everything that happened very well (i'm italian) so here's what I think and what you might not know: Blanco sang "Brividi" with Mahmood and then after some performances by some contestants he came back to sing his new song "L'isola delle Rose" (the Island of the Roses). The song started playing and he started singing but immediatly it was clear that there were some problems with the in-ear and he couldn't hear his own voice and he IMMEDIATLY and more than once pointed it out, he stopped singing and said it out loud but no one stopped the music. From what I heard from one of the persons who were in the Ariston Theatre (where the festival is held) before the performance Blanco came on stage and tried some kicks in the air and also the people that were responsible for the roses on stage said that it was prepared, also Blanco himself at the end of the performance said "I should have done it anyway" and from the moment that he couldn't sing he just messed up the scenography.
    You may ask "why would he do that?", it is simple, because he does it also in the music video of the song that you can see on youtube and it is linked also to the meaning of the song.
    Then what was the problem? The problem is that the people in the theatre were mad about him doing this to the flowers (also since Sanremo is known as "the city of the flowers") and not singing because I am sure that if there wasn't the sound problem people wouldn't have been that mad.
    By the way Amadeus himself (the host) wasn't mad at all and the day after during the press conference he said that Blanco was really sorry about what he did and he surely didn't want to disrespect the stage, the festival, the city nor the public with his behaviour and posted on his instagram saying "I am sorry to the city of the flowers".
    Long story, I know, but I wrote this because you were so fast to judge not actually knowing what happened, I mean have you listen to Blanco recently or do you follow him? If you don't than you don't know A LOT about his person, he is just a young man and he didn't react in a proper way in that type of situation, but he surely is not a bad person for that, like everyone judging as if they have never made a mistake at 19 years old.

    This year Sanremo did not have many good entries in my opinion. Lots of people expected Mengoni to win because his song was undoubtedly one of the best. It's made for an Italian audience. We can't forget that Sanremo is the most important song contest in Italy and the Eurovision entry is just an added bonus (an invitation that the singer can accept or refuse). Marco's voice is amazing and I can't wait to see all the leather outfits on the ESC stage 😂

    Ok now about the song.
    I can say I like it but it is not Marco's best song at all, but also I am happy for him, he is a pure soul and has a fantastic voice, he sang perfectly all the nights of the festival and he was in first place since the first night so he is very loved and we actually do not choose the song for esc, we choose the best italian song in competition.
    It would be interesting for you to check out some other songs from the festival like (I suggest you to watch the music video, the live performances are not available for long on RUclips):
    - Lazza, "Cenere" (2º)
    - Madame, "Il bene nel male" (7º)
    - Elodie, "Due" (9º)
    They were my favourite and they are really good, thank you
    bye♡

    I think one important thing that many miss when judging Italian songs ending up in Eurovision is they come from Sanremo, and Sanremo is, traditionally, a cuore/amore contest, where love/heart-embued, slow ballads are more likely to win than other pop/rock songs. It's just what the Sanremo audience expects (and one of the reasons it's not very popular among young Italians).
    Manneskin are more like an exception in Sanremo than a rule. So, it's not that Italians are always about ballads. Sanremo is :)

    You guys…i beg you to read the lyrics, understand the meaning and redo the reaction. The emotions flow through the words magically. Due vite (two lives) it’s a song to himself that run 2 parallels lives always chasing each other and meeting at cross points. And one life has something to regret from the other and vice versa. Considering the rumours of Mengoni’s sexual orientation , this is a love song to the part that we denied of ourselves and how we should love our whole identity. This is not an easy song to sing. This is not a love song, it’s a self forgiveness song. I don’t want you to love it more than the others entry but i would like for you to love the meaning as we, each one of us, always had 2 vite.

      1) The lyrics you described are beautiful. I am going to find full translation of the song and read more about it.
      2) The reality is less than 1% of the audience (exclude Italy ofc) are interesting in finding out more about non-english entries...just as I do. For me as non-italian this was solid song but nothing more. For example, melodically I was much more impressed by Madame's performance.

    I found this song pleasant but I believe part of this is due to me being Italian and understanding the lyrics. From an objective point of view I must agree with you, the melody is not particularly original and in the final part his voice sounds too rough (but in all fairness this wasn't his best performance, at least in my opinion).
    Anyway, your honesty is what makes your videos so interesting. Thank you for always keeping it real!

    Personally i adore Blanco music. His songs are amazing and he is one of my favorite singers.
    What happend in Sanremo i didn't like it, but it is known that everything u see in television is organized by authors of the specific program.
    it is my opinion so i hope u respect it.
    PS: the blonde guy should stop repeating " Italian songs have a lot of words." Ooook?? Italian language is like that?? Just avoid repeating that u do not like how our language sounds casue it is not very respectful.

    • @giovannimoriggi5833
      @giovannimoriggi5833 Год назад

      Blanco kicking roses at minute 1 of the performance wasn't organized. Assuming that it's a very banal way to try to forgive Blanco, but he doesn't need to be forgiven. What happened there it's just an accident, involving a young singer who likes make party like a wild kid (and everybody knows it). But it wasn't outrageous or offensive (Blanco is a good person and you can see it), just stupid, and now we miss a beautiful performance on Sanremo stage.
      Sanremo is a culture itself, I don't care the way foreigners judge some weird things. In terms of 'professional' I think that many people on ESC shouldn't be even showed, if everything should be so professional.
      A lot of things happened in and around Sanremo stage in 73 years. Brian Molko has been totally disrespectful on that stage, but that time Placebo did finish the song at least.
