In Italy he wasn't really 'understood' if I can say that. Right now in our country we have some immigration issues, and this song, this artist is wrongfully put in between (not that it matters, but he's 100% Italian). Both of us feel that we should have taken ITALY forward. We need to hear the rest of the songs but it feels like ITALY this year will do very very well ! 😘
Mamhood, the singer who participates for Italy, was born in Italy to Egyptian father and Italian mother. The song with which he participates with the title "Money" is dedicated to his father who is an alcoholic and left home but always came back from the family, tormenting he and his mother looking for "money" to buy alcohol
Thanks for your comment. We love the way the song felt before we knew the meaning, and now we love it even more as it's so dark. A very solid entry again from Italy!

I think this is so far one of the best songs, the song has trap, rap, and pop together, and as we know now a day trap is on the top of music in many countries is a really good option to put together those generes. In my opinion Italy and Spain have the best songs

The money song does not talk about money, but about a father who left his son when he was little, and only occasionally returns to him and asks him for money. He speaks of love for his father and for this difficult relationship. Alessandro has an Egyptian father and an Italian mother. He was born and lives in Milan. The Egyptian father returned to Egypt when he was small and only shows up once in a while.
@@empress2423 You are saying this everywhere in the comments, it's dreadful to see how much eneregy and hatred you put trying to make the song (and the singer!) look bad. It would certainly be very appreciated if you could just be fair and at least not repeat lies. I don't know why you do this, but I'm sure people are not so stupid to believe you, every one can look for a translation of the song on google and see that what you say is completely false. What saddens me is that you could have done that yourself and spare yourself the shame of sounding like an idiot.. or perhaps you are doing this on purpose, and that's even worse cause it would mean you are cruel. Which one are you really, idiot or cruel?
Loved the start...we say "ciao" both for hello (when you meet somebody) and for goodbye (when you end a call or a meeting), but like when you don't expect to see somebody anymore (deathbed, end of a relationship) we say "addio"
The arabic words are words that he remembers hearing as a kid, his dad is egyptian. Also the called is called "Soldi" but it's not in a materialistic way, it's about the dynamics that money (and lack of money) affect the family life
Thanks for your comment! Much like in Israel where shalom is hello and goodbye in a similar way. We really enjoyed the way this song affected us and made us feel, and the culture mix that Mahmood represents is great to see!
Dear guys if u understand the language u will understand the song. The song is about the complex relation with his father who left him and his mother when he was little child.
This song has a very deep lyric, that speaks of the father of mahmood who left the family when he was child and came back just now to ask for money, the father is Egyptian... for this there are Arabic references.

This song is a fusion style, and as you have well understand is well written (2 expert authors has help Alessandro Mahmoud - artist named Mahmood) to arrange what he wrote. As you told this kind of song growths little by little inside and it is certainly a young style. He won also "Sanremo Youth" with a song that we could consider the first part of this song, "Gioventù bruciata". He is a writer, coming from a very good music school in Milan and he wrote already songs for famous singers. Good luck Alessandro!
Good job!! You understood that it's arabic and not italian!!! The song it's italian but in that part he says: waladi habibi taala hena, that means hey son come here...it was a phrase that his father told to him when he was a child
Hi, I'm Italian and would love to give a little backgroud to how he got to rapresent us, beside the song. Sanremo Festival is the most important musical event in Italy, whoever wins gets to take part to Eurovision rapresenting the country. This year there was plenty of very (very) old, traditional italian music and singers, people we've been listening to for 40 years around here. Plus, we are currently under a government that strongly attacks and tries to isolate anything that differs from 'the traditional italian culture', any kind of foreign vibe gets strong criticism (and Mahmood is hald italian half egiptian). Also, youger generations in Italy are being criticised, judged and not supported, at all. With this, I am extremely glad and proud we'll be rapresented by a young, hardworking songwriter with a diverse etnic background both in his personal life and his music. This entry tells me my country is not giving in to the attitude of the current politics in charge, is not giving in to fear, rejection, judgment and isolation. So I really don't mind how this will work out, as many others I am so happy and proud.

the arabic phrase is what his dad tell to him when he was a child. It means "my love, my dear come here" and Mahmood decides to put it into the song because is one of the few phrases that he remember in arabian (he is half italian and half arabic but he consider himself italian 100% because he grew up in Italy and he has got a italian's culture, so he can't speak arabian). p.s. I'm sorry for my bad english, hope you guys understand what I said
This is kinda odd but i really love it, the other songs i didn't like as much. his voice is regular but i love this because its catchy. And btw your reaction videos are so fun to watch!!
Mahmood is half Italian and half Egyptian. In this song there are 3 words in Arabic. Unfortunately now Italy doesn't like Arabian people and culture and in fact he has been much criticized. Anyway I love him. 😊💞
1. Italy doesn't have anything against Arabic culture as itself 2. Mahmood defined himself 100% Italian, and his win was actually criticised for having tried to make him a banner for something that doesn't even concern him (which doesn't necessarily mean the song itself didn't deserve to win). 3. This kind of generalizations is exactly what most Italians are fed up with the most (and not only Italians, I's say)
Can’t see this winning You have to translate what he is singing to appreciate the meaning, and I don’t think the average Eurovision viewer will do that. As you said, the song grows on you - but lots of voters will only listen to it once and it will have no time to grow on to the listeners. I think it will do well with the Jury’s though
Hahaah the surprise at arabic part is very funny also because he does not look italian at all, you should have understood not only for the strange surname that he was not full italian, he looks very north african despite being half and half.
Listen the official video, because the audio of Sanremo was really bad. All of the artists had problems during their performances. It will make differences.
Two perfect intuition: • the arrangement is very good and it’s better in the studio version. You should ear the original on his channel [ ruclips.net/video/22lISUXgSUw/видео.html ]; • his producer is well known for producing rap music, and even Mahmood is near to this kind of culture. You kinda perceived the atmosphere, but maybe you should understand the meaning too. It’s strange to ear for Italian speaking people too, due to the intensity of the text. If you don’t know the meaning, maybe you can’t understand why the song gives you that kind of discomfort.

You used to tell me while playing your games fiercely

Wanting so bad to bring things back to what they were
I didn't ask you for your money...
It hurts to be alive
When you lose your pride
You leave home out of the blue
You, tell me if
Only cared for the money money
As if I had any money
You leave the city without anybody knowing

Mamhood, the singer who participates for Italy, was born in Italy to Egyptian father and Italian mother. The song with which he participates with the title "Money" is dedicated to his father who is an alcoholic and left home but always came back from the family, tormenting he and his mother looking for "money" to buy alcohol
Thanks for your comment. We love the way the song felt before we knew the meaning, and now we love it even more as it's so dark. A very solid entry again from Italy!

The money song does not talk about money, but about a father who left his son when he was little, and only occasionally returns to him and asks him for money. He speaks of love for his father and for this difficult relationship. Alessandro has an Egyptian father and an Italian mother. He was born and lives in Milan. The Egyptian father returned to Egypt when he was small and only shows up once in a while.
did you heard the word RAMADAN at the beggining? he is criticizing drinkin alcohol during the Islamic RAMADAN
@@empress2423 stop writing lies everywhere, you've only distorted the meaning of the song!!!!

This song is a fusion style, and as you have well understand is well written (2 expert authors has help Alessandro Mahmoud - artist named Mahmood) to arrange what he wrote. As you told this kind of song growths little by little inside and it is certainly a young style.

Mahmood is half Italian and half Egyptian. In this song there are 3 words in Arabic. Unfortunately now Italy doesn't like Arabian people and culture and in fact he has been much criticized. Anyway I love him. 😊💞
1. Italy doesn't have anything against Arabic culture as itself

You have to translate what he is singing to appreciate the meaning, and I don’t think the average Eurovision viewer will do that. As you said, the song grows on you - but lots of voters will only listen to it once and it will have no time to grow on to the listeners. I think it will do well with the Jury’s though
"ciao" is hello and goodbye
You're so funny! Siete molto simpatici (con i vostri stereotipi🐒) 😊 the pronunciation of the pizza name is the same as that of the Japanese

Two perfect intuition:
• the arrangement is very good and it’s better in the studio version. You should ear the original on his channel [ ruclips.net/video/22lISUXgSUw/видео.html ];
• his producer is well known for producing rap music, and even Mahmood is near to this kind of culture.
You kinda perceived the atmosphere, but maybe you should understand the meaning too.
It’s strange to ear for Italian speaking people too, due to the intensity of the text. If you don’t know the meaning, maybe you can’t understand why the song gives you that kind of discomfort.
