This vid sounds quite a bit like what you have to do to make up for a game whose UI is not balanced correctly in order to teach new players. If you have to teach your players by telling them to play multi-player to learn shows this game failed.

Pretty much everyone agrees that the initial phase of playing Wargame is horrible. The developers really missed out on some more mainstream appeal by making the game relatively inaccessible.
However, if you can move past the initial phases of the learning curve, a great experience awaits. There are many games that are tough to pick up but are cherished by their community. The game is unique and by no means a failure. But its inaccessability is a shame.

True, but as all games in this genre go this way there is not much choice.
Also this one has like no single player quality anyway.
I played DCS before, that was a zillion times worse to learn/impossible for normal players.
Before that Hearts of Iron, which is actually one of the easiest but still too much for most people.

Good job on the video, but you're title is "Learning to Play", and it's really not a video about learning how to play for a new player. But I do appreciate your pointers to others that do videos on starting out.

Thank you for the feedback. I see where you are coming from. My idea was not to give new players basic tips on gameplay (Razzmann is a much better source for this) but more of a meta approach on the learning curve. Imo the learning curve of wg rd is so steep that guidance for the process of mastering it can be just about as important as the technical details. And that aspect is overlooked in many other guides.
In summary, I think an essential part of "learning to play" is knowing how to go about it efficiently. Wargame is horrible about teaching this and I'm trying to do my best to help newcomers with my videos.
I definitely don't want to mislead anyone, so if you have a more fitting title for this, I am very open for your input.

@@MoistLeopard thanks much for the reply! I agree with you, and I'm really liking my first hour in the game, but find the built in "tutorials" useless, so have been looking on YT. I have no frame of reference for where to place pawns, and then how to deploy units (unloading troops and setting coverage arcs, if that is even a thing). Just experimenting in the first campaign scenario to figure it out. Just wanted to give you feedback on the title, and think you did a good job, it's just not what I was looking for. It's perfect that you put the links to videos of other aspects of the games, so thats where I'm headed for more info. It's funny that I can't easily find a true beginner starting guide for this, probably b/c the more popular videos that come up are for players already familiar with the very very basics I guess. Cheers!

Join the Bootcamp Discord Server that is linked in the description. I'm on there regularly, just like many other people who are much better than me and are trying to help people to learn the game.
