wow. very inspiring and wise. i always like to listen to ADVICE from older people - i always stay quiet and listen and learn. I learned great life advice in these short 4 minutes. Thanks Dean!
I run to explore! Man, you touch the right spot! I run for several years now, and i always do that. Explore the world running is who i am! You're my inspiration! Thanks for all that i learn with you
from beeing a mobile gamer with sedentary lifestyle.. I've become a ulta marathon runner just by seeing this video 3 years ago Thank u Dean Thank u Terry fox(Canada) for inspiring me
Increible!!!! Dean Karnazes, Un estadounidense de Los Angeles, corrió en el año 2005 350 millas (560 kilómetros) en 80 horas y 44 minutos sin dormir. #LIVESTRONG
Ray Sha every ultra runner has the same mutation. It's developed with arduous training. Look up David Goggins. The guy has multiple diseases and a hole in his heart and does the same shit Dean does. Limitations are in the mind 💪
I think that shows the body can be deceptively different. However, that statement tells me you're looking for a reason that he can run so well, and you don't.
OK, he doesn't get tired and this is amazing. But what about orthopedic problems? Does he have them? After years without running, he made a 30-mile run. His body was not ready for that. How can he withstand that?
Given that Dean is biologically different than the rest 7 billion people on earth his accomplishments are NOT that big of a deal to be honest. If I don't get tired while running I would probably run 52 marathons in 52 states and run some ultramarathons. He is still very inspiring and also inspired me to buy his book and to get out and run!
Not too mention he brags alot for a guy that doesn't even run fast,he runs slow as hell.He runs far yes but guess what? He doesn't have a job,he gets paid to run. Most people who have jobs and lives won't be able to nor would they gain anything from running all day.Like you already mentioned the genetic mutation also allows him to run without the build up of lactic acid.
@@kingdaleclarke well to be honest the biologically different might be a myth... There are many runners who can run faster and with the same period of time or more. There is even an insane older ultramarathonner in my country called Radi Milev. He is around 73 years now and still can run for several days with very brief breaks.
because your body gives off lots of heat through your hands and its temperature may decrease dramaticaly, especially while running longer distance. This can make fatigue bigger
wow! didnt know this, how about the head itself? that is like an heat-oven during sunshine and training? my head feels like exploding? wearing an head-scarve or baseball pet? or anything?
This guy is not inspiration when no other human can possibly achieve what he has. This man's lactate gets converted into energy which is extremely rare and unique. This cannot be achieved people, so when you're disappointed in yourself for not being as good as this man don't give up and don't hate yourself for it! You're literally not meant to be like this.
I like Karnazes and all, but I would say there are some people who have achieved more feats than he has. Dean is more known to the public than other elites are (Yiannis Kouros, Scott Jurek, Ann Trason, Jenn Shelton, and the entire Tarahumara tribe in the Copper Canyons to name a few), and thus has gotten more recognition than other elites. Kouros is arguably the best ultrarunner of all time, holding a good majority of world records, such as most distance covered in 24 hours, most distance covered in six days, fastest 100-mile run, and fastest 1,000 mile-run. The Tarahumara, wearing thin rubber sandals and living on nothing but corn beer and chia seeds, can run as far as 435 miles without sleeping (compared to Dean's record of 350 miles). Trason and Shelton are two of the most renowned faces in female ultrarunning. Jurek skied for 100 miles at a time as a college student, ran his first marathon in 2:54, came in second place in his first ultramarathon race, and at one point held the Badwater Ultramarathon course record. Also, every runner converts some of their lactic acid into energy, not just Dean. Compared to a mediocore ultrarunner though, Dean converts higher proportions of lactic acid into energy, minimizing fatigue. This is a common condition among the elites though. It's less of a genetic mutation and more of an adaptation to extreme training that only 0.00001% of the population will probably ever have the time and dedication to achieve. I find inspiration in the success of others in general. Success for Dean equates to running hundreds of miles at a time, whereas success for me would be running as many marathons as I can throughout my life. For some people, it's just jogging around for a few miles two or three times a week. For others, it's walking around the block. Success and inspiration are all relative really.
+John Dickey I know but people shouldn't look to them for inspiration since they cannot achieve what they have, they should look to those that they can meet up to goal wise.
Dean may happen to have a a useful mutation to not build up lactate but he still gets tired, his muscles may be fine but the rest of his body, especially his heart and lungs will eventually struggle to function and get tired after a while like the rest of us, he is still as much of an inspiration compared to other athletes. He still struggles and has to work hard to succeed, and the fact the guy is 53 now and is still doing it is amazing!
Look up the Tarahumara tribe in the Copper Canyons; they can run as far as 435 miles without rest (compared to Dean's 350 miles). Also, they don't wear modern running shoes when they do it.
it's also considered a mental disorder according to the latest DSM-5. But it is still something worth bragging about. Not the kind of thing that you will risk being sent to the funny farm on-it's just pure, clean fun!
This is self aggrandizing bullshit. He has a unique physical ability, obviously. Don't try this unless you want to triple your likelihood of destroying your marriage.
Dean can teach us how to suffer needlessly and to die early from excessive exercise. He doesn't look very healthy. After all the pain and sorrow from running you still have to face reality. Alcohol and drugs are not the answer and neither is running.
This guy inspired me 3 years ago to run again after almost dying. Dean is an incredible person
I hope you are still running mate.
Karno, you inspired me to become an ultra marathon runner. It changed the way I think, the way I feel and it transformed my life. Thank you.
wow.
very inspiring and wise.
i always like to listen to ADVICE from older people - i always stay quiet and listen and learn.

Impresionante...
Que rico correr por ese lugar desertico
His Lactic Acid level doesn't go up, that's why he can run non-stop. He was on Stan Lee's superhuman show.

I ran 18 kms today😊
fuck i run about 400 metres before i get tired im so shit lol
OK, he doesn't get tired and this is amazing. But what about orthopedic problems? Does he have them? After years without running, he made a 30-mile run. His body was not ready for that. How can he withstand that?
"...WOW..." OoO!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone seen a link to this video without subtitles? Been searching can't find one.

Yes

and yet I get tired running ONE mile
Quit sprinting. Take it easy. Jog.
does anyone know why he where's gloves?

Yeah, head is another heat off-giver. Hat or cap is pretty much advised, depending on the season.
Looks like a pretty big dude but hes small like 5’7

Super Dougie But people shouldn't put their expectations to his standards because then they set themselves up for disappointment.
He's death not Dean.
Ancient Greek he is
What kinda superhuman runs tirelessly 3 days straight???
*Without sleep*. This isnt inspiration this is a subspecies
+Porridge _ He does, his body converts his lactate into pure energy, it is a mutation in his genes.
Porridge _ Yeah, lucky him.
Look up the Tarahumara tribe in the Copper Canyons; they can run as far as 435 miles without rest (compared to Dean's 350 miles). Also, they don't wear modern running shoes when they do it.

This definitely is inspiring, but isn't he running on the wrong side of the road?
Sometime it's better order too see (or to be seen from) the potential threat
This is self aggrandizing bullshit. He has a unique physical ability, obviously. Don't try this unless you want to triple your likelihood of destroying your marriage.

what's the answer?
he looks very healthy
Yeah but Dean's body is unique. He is absolutely more healthy than anyone in this comment thread. He has no lactate threshold.
Your fucking with us
What a waste of energy.
Three days of running without sleeping...
How many megatons of meth did he smoke?
