I Put Plants & Animals in a Jar for a Year, This Happened | Spring ecosphere 1 year update
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 июл 2019
- It's been a year since I made the HUUGE spring ecosphere in the 10 liter jar. The closed ecosystem has proven to be extremely successful over the past year. It contains a lot of different species of animals: bladder snails, aquatic isopods, daphnia, hydra, copepods, ostracods, planaria and loads more. In this one year update I explain what has happened the past twelve months and what the ecosphere looks like now.
Enjoy!

It would nice if you make some sort of chart to know all the species who appeared at the beggining, the ones that survive and the ones that died during that whole year, very cool video!
Almost 200,000 people watched this video in only 3 days... to look at bugs in a jar of water... what am I missing here.

It really gets one thinking, what if our universe is just an ecosystem made by an 11 year old interdimensional being?
Melp Ever read Under the Dome?
Will it really matter? Let's say it's true then what?
I’m pretty sure that’s a plot of a story in an issue of Weird Science (the EC comic, not the show)
Nothing.
Do you mean gOD?
Imagine life suddenly going extinct, with only this dudes jars containing the remaining individuals of life somehow.
HAK-DOS and then they evolve and they spread their spores.
And made a civilization like ours and discovered that there were old advance species and there were a mass extinction and the advance species leave the planet and they called them hoomans and they say one day hoomans will come back and take the world again
Wow thats kind of a cool thought
Anything that could make all life extinct, would destroy this too
The life inside this jar doesn't need the life outside the jar, being it's own contained ecosystem. If all life on earth except for the life in the jars seized to exist, the life in the jar would go on like nothing happened. So yeah, cool thought.
I actually appreciate the fact that certain people take interest in stuff like this...

Honestly humans are just the most adorable animal in the world, we had to fundamentally change everything we thought we knew to survive, had to create tools, math, and science in order to thrive, developed ways to bend nature itself to our will, but
We still offered food to starving wolves during the cold winters
A lot of us cry when our tiny robot helpers get scared during a thunderstorm
We help take care of tiny furry animals just because, when every other animal wants to survive, we want to give survival to those that may have trouble attaining it; cats and dogs with only three legs, critters like that
We have entire companies, giant groups of humans in a massive network of resources, purely to give our critters the food they prefer
Humans are just absolutely adorable really

Aliens: I put humans and plants on a planet for 200,000 years, this happened.
I'd watch it
The body of the oldest homo sapiens which was found was about 315 000 years old, my theory is that during one of the natural disasters which happened on earth like for example a huge volcanic disaster only one group of pre-humans survived in a deep cave with very small amount of individuals and during that period their species only survived by practising incest, incest usually increases the chances for disability in a species but also increasing the overall intelligence of a species, by living in a cave they would have had access mostly only to water and insects, insects being a very high protein and omega3 fat source contributed to larger brains and all those factors lead to what the human represents nowadays, nothing comparable in the animal kingdom.
The Biggest Fallacy of Mankind is to think that they know their History.
As you can see the humans have destroyed the ecosystem and now are trying to escape the dying planet.

This shows why you don't drink water directly from streams. Look what shows up when you let it settle.
you’re forgetting that this is still, lukewarm water. cold moving streams normally don’t offer sufficient living conditions for these kinds of organisms
And here I was about to drink water and not let it filter through my organs and just sit inside me for a year like a dang fool.

Has it occurred to you that you are forcing living beings down an artificial line of evolution? It would be interesting to see a 10 or 20 year jar of life.
Random xenomorph start appering
Evolution doesent occur that fast
@@fnfn9199 evolution is essentially how life adapts over long periods of time, 10-20 years can be over a hundred generations for some species in there, their behavior from gen 1 to 100 would surely change, being evolution on a smaller scale essentially. It would actually be quite interesting to take notes about the changes over the years.
Not You it’s not really artificial selection, but this sort of thing can happen extremely fast; take the Belyaev experiment as an example

I'm glad I'm not the only one who taught that 😂
I thoguth it was trying to stag itslef xD
This is interesting. I was always under the impression that plants would need water that was continuously oxygenated (so as to not go into stagnation)
jehsuhs plants don’t need oxygen
@@T0YCHEST they do. Plants also perform aerobic respiration like we do.
Water is literally 1 hydrogen and 2 oxygen atoms, and u don’t need to aggravate the surface of the water to the cycle new oxygen because the lid is sealed so the oxygen that was there has no place to leave, and even if it does it would take months to sep out of the cracks and by that time the plants would oxygen and the living things would produce C0🔻2
The plants produce their own oxygen through photosynthesis! It's a waste product in that process, but means they can use it for respiration :) that's also why you can have closed terrariums with just plants in thrive for years without ever opening it!
@@robinsea yep! but the fact that there are animals in there too I thought introduced a negative factor for oxygen supply hmm

._. Wtf
we're supposed to be living like these bugs. off the earths environment solely. using natural resources only. money was never supposed to exist. it took away our self reliance. it took our true freedom. the one where we live with nature not against it.
And those humans in the jar put plants and animals into a jar...

We see the world the way we do with so few other notable species because we are among the very largest species in existence at this time - we, the large species, are however a very small fraction of life on Earth - most are the size in this ecosphere.
Also, we, the large species, could not live without our symbiotic relationships with all those microscopic critters.
