Just thought I’d say your videos, content, production and delivery is far beyond what you would expect for a new channel. It comparable to very large channels. I’ve no doubt you will have a huge following if you keep the content coming 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Are they not just the same voicing,? but the spirit has 3 polar patterns (which you didn't mention) instead of the one cardioid found on the origin ? Which for vocals is all you want.

I am a happy user of the Aston spirit, But I am thinking of getting an Aston origin as well. I find myself cutting the lows of my acoustic and my voice as soon as I add bass guitar and drums to the mix. The origin would need less EQ correction. I would like my female vocalist to try out the spirit because it’s full sound adding some umph to the low end

The Spirt has a transformer in it and that's one reason it cost more and sounds better in most applications. l have an Origin that supposed to have it's own 'vibe' but l haven't found the right use for it, yet. Both these mics are made in England, that's a plus like all the Rode mics in Australia. l'll be sure to get a Spirit after l sell the Origin.

I just purchased the Aston Spirit and gave it a try for a week or so. It's a nice mic, but it honestly didn't impress me like I though it might. I have a Heil PR-781, and time and time again, with the different recordings I made, the Heil just sounded better. It cut through better. It was cleaner sounding. It's not as sensitive as the Ashton Spirit, but it, in my opinion, it produced better results. Hey, I guess all of this is subject and user relative. You definitely can't go wrong with the Ashton Spirit, that's for sure.

and in my country, NT1 is even more expensive than Aston Origin, and sits in between Aston Origin and Aston Spirit (yes, Aston Spirit is around 50% more expensive than Aston Origin.. but since NT1 is more expensive than Aston Origin in my country, i will definitively just buy Aston Origin instead of NT1..

    • @GreatTaoSage

i prefer the origin, to my ears more solid. everything else is in the mix anyway, and you cant create that sound, it sounded perfect for narration or podcast aswelll. the spirit sound great, the spirit.. average.

I think it works without the shockmount. Just make sure to use a low cut filter when mixing to get rid of foot steps, hits on the stand etc. Really low frequencies and noise are much more added without the shockmount I think. :)

I agree, it's like you said! The "Origin" has more presence in the low-mids, so it's "warmer"...low-mids which, however, can detract from the higher frequencies. Of course, these are nuances, the "characteristic timbre" is faithfully the same identical
