My question to you is:- If some one is from non tech background and wants to get into to product manager what are the skills they have to learn at undergrad level so if get into b school as fresher they can work at it for few years and switch to PM. I want to know the skills I can learn at this level so as to get a IT placement ( the goal is to be PM).

If you don't know these terms you won't be able to lead them. Secondly, PM tech firms prefer some level of work experience, if you have related work-ex it's even better. If you wish to go as a fresher or switch later, you should do the following: 1. Pursue courses to understand what different terminologies mean. There's a lovely course on LinkedIn called Technology for Product Managers. 2. There's also a book mentioned in the first video above you could read it as well. 3. Intern in a tech role/startup to get familiar with these terms. 4. Pursue any PM related workshops online or offline. 5. Participate in tech competitions, even it at college level. Basically, the more you know about tech and have tech related points in your resume, the more your chances of being selected. Skill wise, PM tech requires - know how of tech, people management, data analytics, presentation and communication, problem solving (basically soft skills). Hope this helps 😊

Age doesn't matter to a great extent for most functions except sales and marketing - it's not like they don't take people over 26, it's just that they prefer freshers because it's easier for them to adjust to sales role since they have no work-ex. I had some batchmates who were 30 and above, the eldest being 32 - that individual got placed at one of the best consulting firms and also had offers from marketing and other functions. Having said that, during the MBA interviews, you will surely be asked why you wish to do an MBA - it will just be to test if this decision is thought through. There's no age restriction on CAT exam or MBA for the very reason that MBA can be done in any age bracket. I know of someone who did an MBA at 38 from IIM Ahmedabad, so it is certainly possible. Now whether it's a good choice or not entirely depends on your expectations out of the MBA journey. If you're looking for better placement opportunities or switching to another field or learning soft skills that will make you a better problem solver, then MBA will surely help. Hi Shweta, does age really matter during the placement of reputed B school? I am 32 years old and have done Ph. D. in science and now working as a post doctoral fellow. I want to persue MBA. Would it be a good idea at this stage? What's your suggestions?
Age doesn't matter to a great extent for most functions except sales and marketing - it's not like they don't take people over 26, it's just that they prefer freshers because it's easier for them to adjust to sales role since they have no work-ex.
I had some batchmates who were 30 and above, the eldest being 32 - that individual got placed at one of the best consulting firms and also had offers from marketing and other functions.
Having said that, during the MBA interviews, you will surely be asked why you wish to do an MBA - it will just be to test if this decision is thought through.
There's no age restriction on CAT exam or MBA for the very reason that MBA can be done in any age bracket. I know of someone who did an MBA at 38 from IIM Ahmedabad, so it is certainly possible.
Now whether it's a good choice or not entirely depends on your expectations out of the MBA journey. If you're looking for better placement opportunities or switching to another field or learning soft skills that will make you a better problem solver, then MBA will surely help.
