      You're certainly not that, Tony. You're up there with the Kent Hewitts and Aimee Noltes of the RUclips world.

    Tritone sub on the 2-5 at 31:25. That’s the way I think Ab minor to Db dom resolving to C 7 but put a minor 2 in front of it

    Yeah, Tony, I really got a lot out of this. Actually, I've never heard anyone go through all the steps to working out an arrangement of a great jazz tune. I truly didn't know that some actually work out which inversion is used, when. That's something I've needed to know. I do wonder if you ever notate somewhere which inversion you're using or whether you use a rootless voicing, etc. Anyway, this is really helpful to witness. Now I see I need to do many of these, on my own so I really understand and experience that. Thanks a lot! I'll be working!

    I watch a lot of barry harris videos. 6th diminished scale stuff. Do you use any of that? You could probably explain how to use it more clearly than he does.

      George Chadwick Much jazz came out of the Romantic period, so you've pretty much kept up. 😉

      Aha I know! It's amazing how similar ragtime is to the likes of Chopin with the stride style!

    So many of your voicings have the 5th on the bottom, doesn't that interfere with the bass?

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  5 лет назад +1

      No, I don't think so. When the cords are in this register they are much higher than the bass. Rootless voicings would be best, but I don't know if I cover them in this video.

    Not bad. However, please try my version of the first bars of „Have You Met Ms. Jones“
    | F Bb9 | Am7 D 7/9b | Gm7 ///| C13 ///|
    Notes in left hand:
    The F and then just the Bb and 7th ( the melody is the 9th)
    Then the Am7 (just root and 7th) then the D7 with the finished 9th. I love all the rest of your changes in this and your counter melody.

    Man! That high pitched sound in the background makes it difficult to watch this video.
