That something Aussies have in common with Danes. Don't show off or brag about yourself in Australia either. We all strive to remain Modest and Down To Earth over here too. An Overinflated Ego will you into trouble over here. That's probably partly why our Aussie Princess Mary is so popular in both countries. Royalty or not she's still a typical Aussie Lady in that respect. For some crazy reason some people think Aussies are all blue-eyed blondes when that's simply not true. Aussies come in all shapes and forms, we don't all look like Chris Hemsworth or Margot Robbie.
It's not just the Danes who don't realise how privileged they are. I didn't understand completely how badly so many average Americans were treated until RUclips. From watching the news and some American TV Shows I had some ideas about the ridiculous Medical Bills etc. But not the extent of how badly the average person is treated over there by the government, police and corporations in general.

In Danish there is a saying something like: "People with money, do not speak about money", aka if you feel like you need to flaunt your wealth, you probably aren't as wealthy as you think you are. Your actions will speak for themselves, your integrity as a person, your attitude. All of this is also considered "wealth", and attitude to owning money means you shouldn't have to lower your standards so much that you get joy from showing off to others who are less financially fortunate.

I am scheduling phone calls in with those of my friends who have kids lol. It is sort of ridiculous. "sure, I got an hour for a phone call next wednesday between 20 and 21?"

I think your way of seeing Denmark and ideas about Danes, is depending on the one you talk to and his/ her age. I have other awnsers than the ones in the video, but Im also 58 years old

The thing about liquorice in Denmark is, that the flavors can vary greatly. For example, I absolutely love the salt-flavored kind, but there are some "sweet" and "bitter" liquorice that I just can't stand at all. The tastes can be so far apart that you'd think its two entirely different types of sweets, and it's not uncommon for people to fancy one type of liquorice over another.
So just because your first try wasn't to your liking, doesn't necessarily mean you dislike liquorice in general. May just be that specific flavor. I'd say at least try 3 different variants: Salted, Sweet, and Bitter.

This video tells me that the nordic countrys cultur is similar.
I have even heard frome people frome Baltic countrys that there cultur is kind of similar.
It must have to do with living in the same area, Baltic sea/North sea, and up in north, same latitude as Alaska.

As a Dane we are quite similar too our northen neighbors ye, but also Germany, UK, Belgium and The Netherlands, until we hit like "the France, Italy, Croatia line". We are more or less same people speaking different languages, but all in Germanic family. When we begin to enter east EU "Poland, Czech, Belarus, Balkans etc." We will find Slavic speaking origin people and a generally lower living standard +/- but not necessary more unhappy. Norwegian and Danish is almost the same language in terms of grammar, but when they speak, they sound more like sweds. Finland however could be a country from the other side of the universe "but same people" :D

Btw about the altitude. You cannot take a line on the map and say we have same weather as what the horizontal line cross in North America. We have the gulf stream here, to heat up the area. Denmark is like living in Chicago in terms of outside weather 😊

@@-lorentzen5925 Btw about that latitude.. its for, to explain to americans that our climate/sun light hours, have a big impact on our lives/social life and customes/social behaviors!
My Baltic friends confirmes this.. indoor living half a year and social outdoor living in the summer!

@@stiglarsson8405 Ye it depends. Played ice hockey in the past, and that was only during winter we had practice. In the summer periods we had some running and rollerblade exercise instead. But my understanding is also that the baltic countries is really gaining some wealth the past decades. They are pretty decent english speakers too. We sometimes refer to them as budget scandinavian in my friend grp. But our languages is far from each other :) I could write in Danish and both sweds and especially norwegians would understand it quite easily. Where other countries would be lost long ago. When I visited Norway on ski holidays as a kid with zero english knowledge I could just speak Danish and every person would know what I meant. Like you are home, but you are not :)

A woman from Tasmania, Australia is the future Queen of Denmark, her family are currently in Tasmania on Christmas holidays - she spent a few years having to prove her worth to the people, even though she was faultless! My niece is also half Danish, she tried to do some family research a few years ago, but her relatives were not welcoming! Yes, Danes have strong rules, change is unwelcome, refugees are usually suspect! 👍🤨

    • @mememe733
      @mememe733 Год назад +13

      That’s not true at all!
Mary has been loved by the Danes from day one.
Any society has rules and I would say that in Denmark we are quite lenient about rule breaking.
What change? Our society? Culture? Why would we change something that’s working well for us? Denmark is probably the most open and international minded of the Nordic countries I would say.
If your niece’s Danish family was not welcoming to her, there could be a 1000 reasons why, but them being Danish is not one of them.
I usually like Australians very much, but your judgemental attitude is off putting.

My niece looks Danish, she is sweet, gentle, smart and very loveable - she was shocked. Sweden is more open, friendly, fun and free - perhaps you should go there sometime! You don't know Australians, if you think my personal story is open to your random judgement! I have two Dutch niece's too, they travel to Holland frequently and are always welcome!
