    Dead Space 2 had an updated Plasma Cutter reloading animation that saw Isaac rack the slide of the plasma cutter back with the palm of his hand like a hand gun causing the spent magazine to eject out and fall on the floor. A neat detail that I personally found really cool was that each and every time that you reloaded, the magazine that you just spent can be heard hitting the ground and the sound effect would vary depending on what type of surface it landed on.
    I really do hope that what I mentioned above gets carried over to this remake in some form!

      Yeah the original reload animation is so goofy. They really need to change it to the one in 2. It's so satisfying.

    I love the overall ‘sound’ of the new Plasma Cutter, but I feel like it could use some extra bass or something to give it a bit more impact. The new Pulse Rifle is great though, sounds more meaty and like a traditional gun.

    The Plasma Cutter needs that iconic hiss. It doesn't sound "bad" per say, but it sounds more like the Force Gun because the hiss gets covered by other layers of the firing sound. It's hard to explain, would be better to show by adding that og sound in post production.
    The Pulse Rifle is great, I love how they added that echo back that they completely removed in Dead Space 2 and 3 and it actually looks like a military firearm. It kinda looked like a simple tube with a stock in the original. I imagine it was difficulty to even hold it, I don't remember it even had a foregrip, but now it does. Not sure if the fire rate is great for balance, it's definitely slower than in the original.

      I can sort of hear the hiss in the new one but its way less pronounced.

    The new pulse rifle has way more weird Sci-fi noise. Which sounds actually kind of cool
    Though the plasma cutter lost a lot of its boom with it's shots. The new one sounds way more like it's shooting plasma.

    Just wrapped watching it live. One thing for this section..... the Plasma Cutter does not sound great. It's too tinny. The OG sounded so beefy like it wasn't meant to be doing what it was doing, but whoever wired it made sure it was outputting way more then intended. Other then that solid. Excited to play it next year!

    I'm curious to know what everyone else thinks about the new plasma cutter. I love the sound it makes when rotating. It's got a nice mechanical sound mixed with the original kinetic sound. I think they're on the right track for that. I also like the sounds it makes when reloading the next shot. The actual firing though I feel like it's not quite there but it is on the right path. I think it needs a sound of something like a torch being lit for a brief second. Kind of like an actual plasma cutter being lit. Adding a sound of a quick ignition of fire might give it that deeper sound it's missing. I think that would make it sound closer to the original while keeping the new sound effects. What's everyone else's thoughts?

    Honest opinion: I LOVE the new Pulse Rifle sound, and the reload sounds more appropriate to how Isaac handles the weapon (with that thunk sound)
    First hearing the Plasma cutter without headphones I was a little mixed on how I felt about it, but after relistening with headphones, I can hear the bass (power) of the shot more accurately.
    It sounds a little more realistic now, less like a thud and more of a shot of actual energy being ejected, which is what the tool's use it for anyway, mineral cutting.

    I hope they balance the weapons, in the original Dead Space, the Plasma Cutter was so powerful, that I didnt even use the other weapons even on the highest difficulty

      @@Simplystimulating Why not? There's quite a few weapons that are almost completely redundant and a waste of credits in the original.
      Dead Space 2 fixed them and the Remake team should use it as a reference for weapon balancing.

    I agree with all the others that are saying the new Plasma Cutter sound is nice but not quite there. I guess the added modularity given by the layers and the greater detail is gonna come in handy but it needs to retain the volume that the original one had; I'm not by any mean an expert so i don't really know how to explain myself but the gun sounded like it exploded something at every shot before. The new one lacks that weight that it originally kinda passed over to the actual shooting experience, making hitting the necromorph more visceral (lol) and physical. I've seen the demo during the stream and while definitely looking way better than the walking bit that was shown the previous time i immediately thought something was missing while shooting down that enemy. The pulse rifle isn't pefect either. It's close, but even knowing it's the only conventional weapon in the game it sounds a bit too conventional here. It's Dead Space after all. It should've retained some of that laser gun feel the OG one had. Great job anyways guys, keep it up. I truly hope the game turns out amazing

    The only "complaint" I have is the classic sound of the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle being absent. Those were the most memorable sounds for weapons to me so I could immediately recognize them if I heard them. What is here though is amazing and I hope they can add the classic Plasma Cutter sound in somehow. Maybe there could be an audio option to turn on Classic Sound Effects like DS2 & DS3 had the Classic Aim option. Great work so far though, extremely excited for this!

    I loved all the new sounds but there's something really weird with Isaac's arm when he shoots the plasma, it seems he is pulling down a rope, the original looks more like a gun recoil.

      The current reload animations are probably just placeholders so that they have something to show and something during playtests to show that you’re reloading instead of just having the character model not move

      @@droppnmics1297 yes, but they said they were going to retrofit dead space 2 gameplay fluidity. If it should have the ds2 animations I don't know. But what I DO hope is that they don't recreate the nasty issue from ds1 where you can't shoot alt line pack bombs directly after shooting the primary fire.

    I really hope you guys pull a 343 with the feedback on sound effects. As I know people criticized the sound of the needler in that game, so 343 changed it to something more in line with what people wanted.
    Hopefully that’ll happen with the plasma cutter as it just needs some tweaks here and there

    I like the strange and complex sound of the new Plasma Cutter. It reminds me a bit of Jinx's gun from Netflix's Arcane. It's not the report of a kinetic bullet, it's almost like a cork leaving a bottle. It has that hollow WHUUUMP with a bit of a sci-fi zap.

    I noticed that while aiming in the remake Isaac doesn't move his head to align his aim with his weapon (I noticed this first in another comparison video and now it bothers me). In the remake he seems to just be winging it; I hope that will get changed. Edit: Also the kickback is very unnatural, the shoulder doesn't move at all, it almost looks like he is pulling the weapon back himself after pulling the trigger.
    Lets just hope this is just pre-pre alpha stuff!

    The original plasma cutter nailed feeling both futuristic and powerful.
    I still love the orientation switching sound especially.
    The comparison is not quite fair as the remake is obviously work in progress, but unfortunately, the pulse rifle I think has lost its futuristic sound (especially compared to DS2).
    To me, the quality is there but the direction seems to far off from the original.

    Love the new sound designs. Especially the plasma cutter. It does sound a bit quieter, but I actually really like that. You can hear the other sounds that go into it rather than a loud, dominating boom. And I also LOVE how the new PC has plasma coming out even after the shot, really gives it a powerful look.

    Loving how punchy the sounds are and everything looks beautiful! I hope the animations/hud are a little closer to the original but cleaned up or more pronounced?
    (Also, this is just a fan idea but have you considered adding liquid into the health gague? It could look like stem cell injections or something to keep an engineer healthy and the fluid level would drain into the suit as your health lowers!)

    The rotation sound on the Remake Plasma Cutter sounds so nice. Glad they kept the original sound bit added a bit of mechanical clicking to it so it sounds more like a real tool and a little less scifi

    I find the recoil animation of Isaac with the plasma cutter much too strong as if it were a high caliber pistol and above all the kick goes down.

    I like it all but it would be better if you guys add more animation when firing the PC, like raise the aim a lil bit higher on his shoulders and the recoil. (the OG is awesome cause it feels like a badass when u feel the firing impact of the Plasma Cutter)

      It's more of a Resident Evil 2: Remake-tier remake than a remaster really. A remaster would just be taking the old game and giving it a resolution and frame rate boost which is not what MASSIVE is doing here.

    i think that the Plasma cutter has a lot of recoil and i like more the transparent ammo counter,
    i like the sound of the pulse rifle, but it has a very slow fire rate

    I like the Pulse Rifle sound, and the slower fire rate gives me the impression that it's more powerful. I actually expected them to take a suppressor mechanic into play for realism; when you fire a gun in an enclosed metal corridor, such as on a ship, the sound is deafening, so future weapons will likely be fully suppressed in order to remedy this. Prey's remake did that with its handgun. Doom 3 also addressed it, but most people agree that the weapons never sounded like they packed a punch as a result. The original Pulse Rifle is stated to use small-caliber rounds, which would further quiet the weapon, but in the game, the gun is far from quiet. Isaac would likely be fine, as his helmet has hearing protection, but Kendra and Hammond would be deaf after a couple of shots. This new Pulse Rifle sounds sci-fi and hard-hitting, though, which is nice. I'm eager to see how things go with other weapons.
    I also noticed that the PR fires three bullets with each trigger pull, one from each of the three barrels. That means there's 150 rounds in each magazine, fired in three-round bursts (like the G-11), instead of 50 bullets being fired individually from each barrel. That's a LOT more rounds than the original was putting out. There's also no sign of its secondary fire. Curious.

    Absolutely loving these sounds. Plasma Cutter sounds very industrial and the Pulse Rifle sounds very militaristic with a little sci-fi pew pew.

    What i hope with the new plasma cutter is for it to sound and behave like a power tool, because it actually is. I don't want it to sound like a gun, recoil like a gun, and to be aim like a gun. Same thing for the line cutter and other power tools Isaac used in Dead Space.

    i think the recoil looks weird on the plasma cutter, it's like issacs arms are jelly while the rest of his body is a statue and the sounds are amazingly clear i love that but they seem too powerful for something thats meant to be a tool before a weapon. even in the original it doesn't look too powerful and issac handles it with ease, but somehow in the remake even with the exaggerated recoil he seems to maintain his aim if you notice the laser sights they hardly move from the center. nonetheless still looks incredible and im excited for the release!

    The pulse rifle seems very different than the original. It sounds less like a sci-fi pulse rifle and more like a normal assault rifle. It was balanced like a laser beam in the original, each shot had very low impact and damage so sustained fire was needed to be effective, the new one seems heavy and more impactful per shot but it’s also much slower.
    I am hoping it has the 360 degree spray alt fire as opposed to the grenade launcher

    I don't really think these updates are entirely warrented, while I get the emphesis is on updating and refining the sounds of old weapons but the meatyness of the plasma cutter feels off without it's iconic hiss.
    As for the pulse rifle, it's a caseless gun from what I can remember and works more from a powered battery and internal mechnisims. which makes me lean to the idea that the gun needs more emphisis on the pew and allot less on the explosive bang. AS I don't beleive it's a heavy gunpowder design.

    Pulse Rifle feedback animations are great but Plasma cutter ones are really off and you could see there is no difference in recoil since the lasers pointing same spot and it seems like they are locked on the position.

    Dead Space should continue like the Resident Evil series.
    ​Dead Space 2 and 3 including DLC after this then Dead Space 4, also we want Dead Space Extraction, Dead Space Ignition, and mobile one remake for all platforms. Make John Carver's own story game. Make games out of those 5 novel books. You guys have lots of possibilities and potential. Make us Whole. I also want Dead Space animation movies, tv-series, and live-action movies just like Resident Evil. Please make Dead Space great again. Continue the journey.

      I mean, while it would be nice, and even if the remake is successful, would remaking the sequels even be necessary at this point? Because the original sequels already established quite a lot(excluding the Awakened DLC which was merely a setup of what's to come) and the last thing we'd want is for Motive Studios to jump right into Dead Space 4. Because as far as I know, lore wise, it's only the first game that's being remade because the original was lacking in certain areas. I do welcome the sequels though, but then again, I'm biased.

    I believe the original is muffled to match the atmosphere, it's about being cool and matching the concept art rather than being realistic, it's a bit distracting being too noisy and acute and could stop the player to being aware from where they are, the original takes much advantage of scaring even in the heat of the action, I think they're missing a point here.

    The sounds are amazing but I agree with everybody about the Plasma Cutter needing more impact, another thing is that the classic Pulse Rifle shooting sounds has way more impact and feels more Sci-Fi which made it unique at the time, now it sounds like a generic machine gun and even the muzzle flash looks generic instead of futuristic and advanced.
    But anyways, this is a work in progress and overall it looks promising, I hope for the final game to be fantastic and well done. Take your time guys.

      Agreed. Plus.. If you are using such a tool for construction purposes, you'd think less recoil would give more 'precision' for the person using it.

    Definitely prefer the original sound of the plasma cutter. Torn on the plasma rifle though.

    Before it was isaac's helmet projecting BLUE light from inside the helmet to weapons and objects, now it's changed to a floating colored hud on the weapon itself, which looks terrible and makes 0 sense.

    Plasma Cutter has lost all impact of being a literal CUTTER, and pulse rifle just sounds like a generic machine gun

    You clearly seem to have changed the armor design to resemble something more futuristic? But it's just ends up looking more generic and missing the point of the original style, It would be like changing the design of Alien Rifle.
    Yeah you guys still have alot of work to do and please don't change visual designs in general if yours is clearly inferior and is missing the point of the original design

    Like the new pulse rifle sounds, don't like the new plasma cutter sounds but that's not really your fault though, it's because the original plasma cutter sounds is as perfect as it gets.

    The re-Updated ones are better, but still wrong.
    Just import the original sound files from the first game, tweak it ever so slightly if you won't but don't add the overaggerated reverberation.
    Then I think everyone will be happy.
    Change the sounds of all the other guns if you need or want to but the plasma cutter. That's THE iconic weapon.
    That's like making the torch on the statue of liberty have spaghetti instead of flames.
    And this is just me, but the metal of his suit, on his arm, they look like they are wafer thin now, like racing fins for arodynamics, like his suit would be light and easy to manuver in, which isn't Isaac Clarke. Heavy footed engineering badass.

    The old plasma cutter sounds better to me, when you fire it you know you’re ether taking off a limb or dislocating your shoulder.

    As much as I’m excited for Dead Space, this is EA we are talking about here. As much as I don’t like it, I do wanna see how it goes near as the final product does show itself. I do like how this new team is displaying prototype view of the game but still kinda worried. Lol

    I think the new pulse rifle feels too much like a regular rifle, specially because of the boring yellow muzle flash (the blue one was iconic)
