I am from Turkey, a Muslim country but I know this was a well-known tune here. The other Israeli Eurovision winner, Aba Nibi, was also popular. Religion and language doesn't matter in music, because it is the universal language of peace. Greetings and shalom to Israel!
This was the song for our dance at our wedding in 1979. Still together 40 years later and the song still sounds great. So nice that it was performed at this years Eurovision.
Clever ? Try to come up with a song like that. It's not 'clever'. It's sweet and deep and innocent and blossoming. And some of those chord changes are pure genius.
Just ADORE this. I was 15 in 1979. I remember getting goosebumps when I heard it on the Eurovision Song Contest and wanted to be just like the female singer, so beautiful and talented. Now watching it again I’m drawn to the male singers especially the one with the green eyes, not only are they all fresh and handsome but..what talent! I would love to know if they made any other records and what they are doing today. Just can’t stop playing this song again, thanks to RUclips x Nickie.
Hi Nicky,Milk and Honey, recorded lots of beautiful songs, with different femel artist Leah Lupatin she is fab.their catalouge is vast, fab unforgettsble group,Israeli treausure, regards Grace,x
SADLY! I am, and Milk and Honey, are in our 60's, as they leave a legasy of their music, I do as well. 8 albums, and, about, 3 to 4 double albums. I play them on my radio show, here in the UK.
Dave Aspen dont be sad Dave glorify the Lord for each day he gave you , you win awonderful time to live and who did good deeds in his life should not regret the days except those who did bad things So smile and sing Hallelujah in Hebrew means praise to God Love from jerusalem israel
So What's 60 got to do with anything as long as your in good health you can still play Milk And Honey so they are in their 60s Like other artists bet they still look and sound just as good Like the old saying age is just a number
Waow !!! I was a little 10 years old Moroccan Kid back in 1979 watching that beautiful song on Tv in Casablanca on a cool breezy summer night beautiful song and beautiful memories 😉 but I love the original version better ....
I'm shocked that they broadcasted Israeli content in the Arab countries in the 70's! I thought there was a boycoty of the Arab league on us. The more you know
I love this Eurovision winning song! Won't get tired of listening to this, both the English and the Hebrew version. Must be a real fine taste. Even Ray Conniff and his singers did a version. 🙂
How fitting that this uplifting classic closed the 1970s decade of Eurovision. Which by any standard produced its finest songs. From Cliff Richard, Abba, Clodagh Rogers, Brotherhood of Man and the New Seekers, all simple lyrics with a distinct musical backing. Together with good production values, unlike todays offer that fall very short of this music, and on sets that like a science fiction movie.
Music builds bridges! This beautiful song has been in my memory for several decades because, if I remember correctly, I heard it in a movie in the early 80s in a scene with a beautiful winter landscape. Unfortunately, I still don't know the name of the movie. Maybe someone has an idea? Or do I have the wrong memory?
When the Sunset comes and our eyes are shut, whether we dream or not. When the time has come, and we come to our God, he will not ask for religion, no matter what! Life, love and Peace 😌
I'd forgotten this song until it was shown on the 2020 eurovision programme, it's a fantastic song, tune and performed perfectly both in Yiddish (I assume) and English
They all go down on their right knee when they sing the word hallelu-YAH, near the end and they look up to the sky singing the end note.... just wow, praise our mighty lord and saviour Jesus the Christ Yeshuah AMEN ✝️
I wish and pray for peace in Israel and Palestine. Why do people think Israel is the big bad wolf? I hope to visit one day. Best wishes from England. You have at least 1 friend.
So you don't understand this? It has to do with taking revenge on all the Palestinians in Gaza including the children. And misusing the horrific crime on the 7th October to implement some more horrific crimes on all the Palestinians. That's why they call these war crimes. So if you want to be a friend of Israël, be a friend of all those Israelis who protest daily against the crimes of their own government. P.S, If you hope to visit Israël one day (!) Why don't you book a camping trip to Gaza without any food or water right now, which is 7 April 2024 and don't be afraid of the big bad wolf! Worse thing that can happen is that you may loose your life due to an unfortunate unintentional accident. That is if you don't starve to death first due to all the great food and medicine supply that is blocked from entering the Gaza strip. But according to mr Netanyahu this happens in war so why oh why do people think Israël is the bad wolf here?
I am from Turkey, a Muslim country but I know this was a well-known tune here. The other Israeli Eurovision winner, Aba Nibi, was also popular. Religion and language doesn't matter in music, because it is the universal language of peace. Greetings and shalom to Israel!

An amazing great comment, bless you!
At the age of 6 this was my favorite song!
We need this music

Excellent performance, love this song, best ever...
Very cleverly crafted song with a fabulous feel good tune. That's why it's still the most favoured song in Eurovision history.

@@NisseOhlsen In 44 years there has been no song to touch it so if it was not a cleverly crafted song, how come no one has been able to equal it!
@@markyboy1704 my point is obviously that it is beyond clever. There are plenty of clever people around. But not many songs like this.

It's taken me over ten years to find this!!!!!!
Fantastic song !! rock on the 70s & 80s
Endlessly beautiful Gali Atari ❣
As a Finn, I have to admit this "Hallelujah" was a much better Eurovision song than our "Hardrock hallelujah" in 2006. 🙂
African Halleluja finde ich auch gut.
Exactly the two songs are my Eurovision favourites.
