    As a redstone channel who has done a video on this (twice), there are a couple notable mistakes.
    1. Using FPS to determine the speed of a piston is a bit flawed since lag can affect how the animation looks. A piston takes 3 gameticks or 0.15 seconds to extend/retract. There is also no acceleration, it gets to that speed instantly. Or if you did want some number for acceleration you could say it reaches its top speed in 0.05 seconds or 1 gametick.
    2. A gold block is not the heaviest block in minecraft, it's netherite. The crafting recepie of a netherite block alone has 36 gold ingots which is already 4x a gold block + the added mass of whatever "ancient debris" is
    3. You mentioned you didn't want to do nested chests to calculate the bedrock side of things which is understandable. But even without exploits you can fill an entire chest with 27 shulker boxes and have every shulkerbox also be completely full
    Rest of the math seems to have checked out though

    Wouldn't Netherite be the most heavy? It needs 9 netherite ingots to craft one and you need 4 gold bars to make one ingot, meaning that you need 36 gold ingots to make one block, unlike gold blocks that need only 9, so even if we assume Netherite scraps are weightless, they are still four times heavier than gold blocks

    Hey Austin, what about water?
    A single source block of water can hold a LOT of water, by placing at the build limit and letting it flow it's maximum 8 blocks in all directions and then dropping it down one block, and then continuing letting it flow all the way to bedrock, so that you get the most water possible, it also fills in all of that area. The source block can then be frozen and then turned into a block of ice. That block contains all of that water, somehow frozen into a 1 square meter cube. (That's the part where things kinda get iffy because of the way that water flows in Minecraft, but I'm really just curious) You can then use 9 of those ice blocks to create packed ice, then 9 packed ice to create a block of blue ice. Blue has the (I think) lowest friction coefficient in the game, so that would change the amount of friction force, but it would be so unfathomable dense that I still think it would be a huge acceleration.

    Wanted to pointed somethings out:
    In 10:35 there was a typo, as 231840 kg changed to 231480 in the joules and watts calculations;
    Just as another person said, using netherite blocks, that are made from 36 ingots of gold and 36 netherite scraps, the results would get 4 to 5 times bigger depending on how heavy the netherite is;
    In the BE calculations, you could've also accounted for shulker boxes inside the chests, so the actual results would be at least 27x bigger, not even accounting for the wait of the shulkers and chests them selves;
    As for java edition, you can still push minecarts, and the minecart could have the shulkers mentioned earlier, so the BE and java results would be a bit closer in reality.
    Loved the video, hope to see more like it!

      the horsepower calculation is wrong. 1 J is a force of one newton pushing a mass 1 meter. note that the mass isn't specified, 1 newton pushing a single proton 1 meter is the same amount of energy as 1 newton pushing mt. everest 1 meter. obviously the proton is going to cover that 1 meter a lot faster, but the work done is the same.
      so rather than the mass you need the force, which is 47.2 MN. 47.2 MN multiplied by 1 m is equal to 47.2 MJ. this is then divided by the time it takes the piston to move the mass over that distance (0.117 s) giving a wattage of 403.42 MW of power, or 540700.11 horsepower.

      @@santiagotorrezsegarra7790 you're misinterpreting the definition of a joule. It is equal to the work done _by a force of 1 newton_ when moving a mass by 1 meter. You can't move Mt. Everest with only 1N of force and a proton would move _way_ further than 1m under 1N. And if you know the gravity, then you're already going to be factoring that into the equation, which is going to give you your force measurement.

    • @santiagotorrezsegarra7790
      @santiagotorrezsegarra7790 2 месяца назад

      @RabblesTheBinx ok you seem to be misinterpreting the definition of a newton in this case.
      For the sake of argument, lets say were in a vacuum. You leave a force of 1 newton pushing mt everest through space, and over the course of a century it moves 1 meter. The amount of work done is 1 joule, though that work is done over the course of a century.
      Then you have 1 newton acting on a proton. Within picoseconds the proton crosses 1 meter, doing one joule of work over the course of a picosecond.
      In both cases the force and the distance is the same, only the mass and time are proportional. As you mentioned, e=f*d, which never mentions time or mass. If the proton keeps going thats irrelevant since its energy will remain at 1 joule the moment the force stops acting on it. Mt everest would also keep moving through space with 1 joule of kinetic energy, though it would be so slow it seems to be still.

    You know, it's kinda neat watching these now.
    I fondly remember watching austin in jr. highschool - and now I'm in the middle of a bachelors, and having passed highschool physics (and some algebra courses in uni) these suddenly seem so trivial...
    And miraculously I remember all the equations!

  • @chaoticsilver8442
    @chaoticsilver8442 5 месяцев назад +6

    4:20 Gold is NOT the densest thing in Minecraft. For one, simple reason...
    Netherite.
    Specifically, Netherite is MADE with gold, and whatever ancient debris is. Four gold ingots, being compacted into a bar. Meaning a total of 36 gold ingots worth of gold are in a Netherite block. That's four times the gold per gold!
    Netherite isn't made in a furnace where impurities, or extra mass would be smelted off. It's made in a crafting table. Each Netherite ingot, is four gold ingots, and yet, both nine netherite ingots, and nine gold ingots, make a 1m³ block. All that extra gold is compacted down, and that's ignoring the other extra mass of the ancient debris... And, guess what? It's pushable by a piston!
    So all your calculations, you can just... quadruple them. ...yeah.

    I think a factor that could be considered is that a full day in Minecraft is only 20 minutes, or 1/3 hour. Dividing 24 by 1/3 means that for every second that passes in real life, 72 seconds passes in Minecraft, so that might change the force of the piston a lot.

    This becomes even worse if you consider the old recipe for enchanted golden apples uses 8 golden blocks and they can still stack to 64. Me and a friend also did this calculation with a dispenser, which can repeately fire off a loaded shulker box every few ticks.

  • @BobzBlue
    @BobzBlue 5 месяцев назад +1

    Fun fact: a piston takes 3 game ticks (1.5 redstone ticks) to fully extend, but unless it is powered directly by a player, a repeater will round it to 4 game ticks (2 redstone ticks), everything powered by the piston before the repeater experiences the 3 game tick delay.
